Title sequence of "Altered States" (1980)

The title sequence of "Altered States" starring William Hurt still looks extremely modern with a visual connection to the opening credits of the Alien movies. The music adds the necessary amount of uncertainty one finds in the movie, but even more in the book by Paddy Chayefsky. 

Sequence starts with short pre-text by the assistant of the main character

The movie may be most famous among sci-fi (or horror) fans for the final transformation/hallucination scene (see low quality version below), which though is not the most important scene of the story (from the perspective of the book).

Trailer & Opening Sequence: Up in the Air

I attended the Austrian premiere of "Up in the Air" on the 3rd of February. Thanks to RAY Filmmagazin!

Short Info * It's NOT a boy-meets-girl-movie (only)

* It's about Clooney - playing ... "charming guy" Clooney (like it or not)

* It's about those who fire people and people being fired

* Cast and plot seem very life-like, easy going with a chance for tremendous change

* It got a lot of non-professional actors in it - or at least some of which you would say they truly look like the average co-worker. That fact brings in that slight documentary touch that keeps the story down to earth in a pleasant way.

According to engadget this could be the Google ad that ist going to be aired tomorrow during SuperBowl.

* An entertaining, emotional clip * It's focussing on "what the product actually does" AND * making me want to try it out the exact way (e.g. ask Google like you'd ask a human)

Is the iPad going to kill Macs?

Apple seems to plan to stop the production of Macs and focus on selling iPads instead in the near future.

iPad 30" coming soon?

A trustworthy source has informed our office that the final development stage of Apple iPad 15", 17", 23" and 30" has been initiated during the last days of January 2010.

We expect to see the first models of the new product line at the end of the third quater of 2010.

The source (a former, quite unsuccessful developer of iPhone Apps with some tight connections to an Apple developer's daughter's best friend, who is an assistant at the dentist of his psychiatrist) also believes to know that this strategy is going to affect - sooner or later - hardware and software aspects of the products.

It truly is a brilliant and economical act of the company as it's obvious that this way the blueprints of a single product can be reproduced over and over again in different form factors for different products and target markets. The same applies to the software, which will be reused over and over again on every device. AppStore Apps being compatible with "TAPFKAPAM" (the amazing products formerly known as Pods and Macs) AND the amazing iPad. Great and so easy!

Nobody can foretell how immense the impact of this step ist going to be. Imagine editing and rendering videos in FinalCut on your 30" iPad Pro or typing your next novel on the even lighter iPad Air while enyoing your favorite music on your teeny-weeny iPad shuffle or just watching video on a 9.7" iPod substitute (which you already can).

One-Click-Payed-Install

Once again the revolution definitely is hidden in the details. Picture yourself no longer having to setup software like Photoshop through a setup assistant by yourself. For the first time, the iPad allows us to really speak of a one-click-payed-install for any App (and every other piece of content - possibly even our own - one would like to transfer to the iPad). Isn't it great?

Download the app from the AppStore and set (the extremly useful) auto-purchase-feature to "just do it" to buy every single update (you could ever need) in the background. Without the touch of a finger!

We expect a redesigned version of Photoshop in the AppStore by the end of 2010, offering all the features of the TAPFKAPAM version but enhanced through the unique capabilities of the iPad. The full iPhone version is already available, see demo here
