One of the most common reasons I hear for people being against abortion is because “life is sacred.”

Really? Since when? When has life ever been sacred in this country?

If life is sacred, how come we don’t have universal healthcare?

If life is sacred, how come we don’t pass comprehensive gun laws so first graders don’t get gunned down in their classrooms?

If life is sacred, why don’t we offer paid maternal leave so mothers can actually take care of the babies that you are now forcing them to have?

If life is sacred, how come we don’t bat an eye when the police murder black kids?

If life is sacred, why do we have the highest maternal death rate in the developed world, which is only going to increase now that women are being forced to give birth?

If life is sacred, why is the death penalty even still a thing?

If life is sacred, why are we still encouraging violence against the LGBTQ+ community?

Life has literally never been sacred in this country. Maybe anti-choicers like to pretend that it is because it makes them feel righteous when in reality, they’re just misogynistic pieces of shit, but it’s not. And as long as psychotic, reactionary morons continue to steal power undemocratically and make decisions that the majority of us do not want, it never will be.

Btw, if you have not had tragedy dropped on you before, grief does fuck you up in unexpected and physical ways. If you can’t sleep or sleep more than expected or have more or reduced appetite, or energy goes weird— your brain just had a bunch of emotions dropped on it and sometimes it reacts by hitting every button in your brain. It will pass. Just try to not get too frustrated with yourself.

It’s also fine if you feel normal. Grief literally hits everybody differently, and some people are made to be able to to keep the farm going the day after a death, and some of us turn into sleepless gargoyles and get really into trying to help, and some of us are just unspeakably sad. Grief is weird. Be kind to yourself.

in any case. im not really sure what to say so i'll say what i think i need to hear right now. it's entirely okay to cry about this. it's entirely okay to be upset about techno's death and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. he was a great person who inspired a lot of people and it's a fucking tragedy that he's gone so soon. there's no shame in mourning him. take care of yourselves. stay safe

I know we joke about the whole “[streamer] can’t love you” copypasta, but watching Techno’s father read his letter and talk about what went on in his final days, I can’t find words to express just how much that isn’t true.

Everything Techno did, everything he said, was oozing with nothing but love for his community. Techno was never afraid to tell his community just how much he cared, he never hesitated to say what we meant to him or how proud he was of us.

So I don’t think it’s wrong to say Techno loved us, and I don’t think it’s wrong to admit that we loved him. Maybe not personally, maybe not intimately, but love isn’t defined by intimacy. Love doesn’t have much of a definition at all, really.

So don’t be too worried about being “weird” or cringy or parasocial about this, okay? The passing of a loved one is incredibly difficult to handle, and Techno loved us every way he was capable. There’s no need to be ashamed of how you grieve someone you loved.

technoblade was an inspiration to so so many. he was proof that you can be funny and kind, passionate and genuine. he made an everlasting impact on not just the mcyt community but the internet as a whole. the loss here is immeasurable and i hope that god does hesitate, just a little.

I don’t typically do this, but I have to agree with the others saying this: Do NOT bring up Techno’s death in CCs chats, be it Twitch, YouTube, or anything else. The CCs deserve the ability to grieve in peace. They should not be finding out about it through flipping Twitch chat.

Take care of yourselves everyone, it’s going to be a very rough couple of days. It’s going to be a very rough couple of months. It sucks. I’m so sorry to everyone in this community, to the CCs and his family. It’s such a rough hand he was dealt. Drink water, make sure to eat, reach out to friends if you need, try your best not to beat yourself up, I know Techno would want all of us to remember him at his best and be happy for the good times we got. I don’t know how we’re supposed to move on like this but we’ll get through it and always remember the amazing man he was. Technoblade never dies.
