This may seem like a very “well duh” post but i do think it’s important to be clear that when trump claims he intends to “deport” U.S. citizens that that is definitionally not deportation. Deportation specifically refers to the civil process of removal a foreign noncitizen to the country where they hold citizenship. Deportation is also, in most cases, a legal punishment in itself and will not result in the deportee being jailed upon arrival to their country of citizenship. Removing US citizens from the US and placing them in jails in countries that they have no citizenship claim to is commonly referred to as “disappearing,” “kidnapping,” or “trafficking” and discussions around trump’s desire to remove US citizens from the country should refer to it as such

In August, I started volunteering at a non-profit that works to aid and uplift Black workers in Philadelphia in their fight for better wages, better treatment, and knowledge building. It has really helped me connect with my own blackness and passion for social justice that I haven't been in touch with since I was about 17 (8 years ago omg). It feels good to actively be working towards helping people like me in my own community/city. Even just volunteering has been so rewarding, and I want to document a little bit of my journey on here as I continue to move into the working world and explore the causes I stand for.

Over 260,000 police cases including thousands of sexual assault reports were dropped because ‘there wasn’t enough staff.’ Black Houston residents are more likely to be injured by police force. Disabled folks being brutalized during traffic stops. It’s not shock or scandal anymore, it’s systemic failure. It’s past time for transparency, accountability, and serious change. Judaism and the Israeli government are not the same thing at ALL and should not be treated as such. yes, what the government of Israel is doing is AWFUL. no, it is not some random jewish guy that goes to your school’s fault.

someone told my partner yesterday (while they were arguing about trans rights??? completely unrelated) to “go light the menorah or whatever,” “free Palestine, Israel is trash and so are you,” and that “finding out ur a jew makes me dislike you more” along with other hateful things.

my partner supports Palestine. being jewish and supporting Palestine can and DO co-exist. anti-semitism within the pro-Palestinian movement is one of the main reasons it doesn’t have more support, especially from foreign leaders.

Judaism is not Israel. attacking jewish people is only going to make things worse for EVERYBODY, including Palestinians. i know a lot of people who are hesitant to affiliate themselves with the pro-Palestine movement because of how violently anti-semitic *some* parts of it can be. we are fighting against violence and injustice, we are fighting against a corrupt, power hungry government. we are NOT fighting against a demographic.
