Trump’s Tariffs Gambit – Upending World Trade, Redefining Global Economics – my simsbook story
Those draconian tariffs, it means something bad is afoot. What is it?
It's America's nearly 10 trillion US$ in debt due in 2025. I feel Kamla chickened out of this massive headache, and in the backroom Trump said heck yeah I'll enact the tough calls so make me President.
In Man's drive for the good life on earth, America became all that's wrong with fallen human nature. People want shiny things and indulgences and material overstuffed stuff. So American progress became a grotesque fat bloated thing, to satisfy the masses, as democracy demanded politicians pamper to the whims of the superficial and shallow voting public for the almighty vote. The bankers with sly smiles and shiny suits all too willingly obliged the greed, with interest loans and bonds and printed money that they issue In Legal Tender - to themselves.
And to pay off the private bankers who own the Federal Reserve and the banks and hence the Treasury, and who determine the price for gold in London, England every morning (see Carroll Quigley's tome of a book, Tragedy and Hope), only a huge global war could bail out the sinking ship. So Iran, China, Russia, the eagle is wounded, and will attack the bear, the dragon, the lion.
War always the answer when humanity finds its System fails. Now, war will end the Industrial Age that Adam Smith ushered in, and the Technology Age will promise a new dawn - not greed and coveteousness as Industrialization did - that failed utopia of material things. But definitely a new utopia emerges, one of technological magic, except the sin of control and command in the surveillance society takes hold.
In the 1770's, as the French and America revolutions tore the world system apart, Adam Smith's book Wealth of Nations filled a gapping vaccum: it redefined how society could develop to improve human life, which up to that time for all history had been brutish, cold and miserable.
Out of that book, Capitalism fuelled America's rise out of the ashes of its war for Independence from Britain, with an Industrialization agenda that lifted Mankind to astonishing heights of what we now call progress.
When Marx and Engel published the Communist Manifesto, and Marx's Das Kapital formed an intense critique of Capitalism in the 1880's, the West demonized the idea of anything anti-Capitalist - even as Scandinavian societies were enacting a blend of the two.
Today, America faces the music for its headlong blind plunge into that mirage, the mystical American Dream, the idea that Capitlaism is god's gift to America. Economic progress became an obese, overgrown monster feeding on itself, demanding more and more and more, now, instant.
Capitalism became synonymous with greed, and that biblical sin, coveteousness. Every generation for the past two hundred years craves the American Dream, a mythology that's monstrous in its lack of humanity. Money became everything. And people grasped for more and more money to keep paying banks, to secure bigger and bigger housing and drive newer and newer cars, and to indulge in hedonistic, debased debauchery, the pursuit of pleasure and personal gratification.
Today, in 2025, America faces the stark crisis of an overblown debt load - close 10 trillion US dollars in debt must be dealt with this year. And the American economy cannot sustain such a weight.
All that progress we have taken for granted and that we demand from politicians, as we splurge in pleasure to escape the angst of our pitiful existence as workers, the monster now demands payback.
Like Marx warned, Capitalism is cannabilizing itself, and a USSR-style techno-communist Socialism, already in place in China and Singapore in the Social Credit System, is what's our fate tomorrow. India, Russia, South Africa, Brazil all grasp this new playbook, and thus BRICS tries to form the alternative to the American Century.
As tariffs wall in America, the guns and weapons-manufacturing industry will again save the day - except this time to make sure those precious minerals needed for neon-powered microprocessing magic don't become a global dictator's dream, but usher in a new World System to govern the unruly masses.
So Trump's mandate makes him - like Rene Girard's theory of human nature illustrates - a sacrificial hardnosed man now, but he'll become hero eventually, after we rise again from the rubble. It's the story of Man's history. -sms
