At first, Lizzie didn’t recognize the man — all the years that’d passed and what not — but slowly, his face began registering in her head, and her forehead shot up. “Cooper?” She asked, unsure of her own voice, and for a moment she forgot about the animal in her hand. The kitten, spotting a chance for escape, yowled and scratched her arm, heading for the back of the clinic. “Wait!” Lizzie yelled, tumbling after the kitten, almost running into Cooper as she headed back.
An escaped kitty was not a new thing for the clinic and he let out a slightly amused laugh when the kitten escaped. “Don’t worry, we deal with this all the time. Just help me make sure the baby doesn’t make it too close to the doors.” He pulled out a little bag of treats and took some in his hand, before passing them to Lizzie. “This might help us get them out. We just have to find their hiding spot now... Which is the hardest part.”
