According to the latest Gallup Survey, 76% of Americans have a great deal of respect for our police. That's only 1% shy of the all time high. Let's hope that number keeps climbing, as it should!

Kenneth Knox was the first on scene after a Georgia family called 911 when their two month daughter had trouble breathing shortly after eating. The family had performed CPR with no luck, and the baby was quickly turning blue and fading. Knox knew just want to do and performed REVERSE CPR, sucking the cereal out of the baby's throat, and she immediately began breathing. She smiled at him for a second right before starting to cry. It was "music to my ears," he said. A week later the family called him and asked whether he would be her godfather. He graciously accepted, calling the whole experience the most profound accomplishment of his 25 year career and saying he will love the little girl with all his heart and forever be her guardian. This weekend in Indianapolis, a man high on weed dipped in PCP stole his baby from his mother's house. He then walked down the street, knife in one hand and baby in the other, babbling drug-induced nonsense. When SWAT arrived they surrounded him as he continued walking and put the knife to his baby's throat. Luckily for everyone, Indiana officer and specialist in non-lethal force Pete Koe arrived and immediately acted. Koe knew EXACTLY where to discharge his taser at the suspect so that his body's reflexive reaction would be to throw the knife away harmlessly and fall backwards, with his body protecting the baby from the fall. A Texas homeowner was told by his community property owner's association to remove his thin blue line flag. Why? Because apparently someone in the neighborhood found it offensive and complained about it. Three days ago New Jersey Transit police officer Victor Ortiz saved a man from taking his own life, while disregarding his own in the process. According to news outlets, Ortiz is a 16 year veteran who followed the man off the train after reports that he had been causing a commotion on board. The man ran, then lay on the tracks, while a train could be seen barreling towards them in the distance. Video shows that the battle of tug and war between the men could easily have ended with Ortiz on the tracks as well, and I’m sure he knew that, but he did not let go of the man until he was out of harms way.
