Catnaps and snacks | Hau & Nanu
This wasn’t the first time he’d done this. The area was pretty quiet most of the time after team Skull was kicked out, but he was still a bit wary for some reason. Was it the creepy atmosphere that always hung around the place? After glancing around him a few times to see if anyone was watching him basically breaking and entering, he opened the door to Nanu’s place and snuck inside.
Hau was instantly greeted by a chorus of excited and cheerful cries of Meowth, and he couldn’t hold back laughter as the army of felines swarmed around him, nuzzling wherever their fuzzy cheeks and whiskers would reach.
“That tickles- Hahaha!”
The boy emptied a big bag of Pokébeans on the coffee table, watching half of them spill off the surface and onto the floor. Eh, they’ll eat it anyway.
“Promise to share, okay?”
And with that he curled up on the couch strategically placed so it’d catch the most sunlight during the day, soon to be half covered by at least half of the Pokémon in the building. It didn’t take long for him to doze off, and whenever Nanu would arrive he’d find Hala’s grandson peacefully snoring on the couch with the kahuna’s cats.

Although the island of Ula’Ula had quieted down ever since Team Skull were put in their place and forced to saunter off to what he’d hoped was better places for themselves, Nanu always made sure to scout the area. It had become a routinely walk through the backstreets and trees that he just couldn’t sit still with if he did not do it at least once every day.... or.. every other day. Some days he could let himself get away with that.
Pleasingly enough, it seemed like nothing was going out of the ordinary, and that meant he could go back home and read a book or something. Great. One might have thought that this fact could have brought a smile to his face, but really it felt more like a spark on a wet surface--- it just fizzled. It didn’t really matter much, though, at least he could relax. Honestly the area was still deserted because there was a lot of cleaning up to do in Po town if anyone wanted to make their way back to living over there.
When he went to turn his key in the door and found that it was already unlocked, he let out a sigh and opened the door to step inside anyway. Immediately, a number of mews and meows could be heard, and all 24 of his Meowth came up to him excitedly without skipping a beat. This time a hint of a grin took a place on his face. “Hey, hey..” He spoke softly, raising an eyebrow and reaching down to pet the Pokémon as they wished to be. “Yeah, I’m home.”
Looking over past them, he couldn’t help but notice the scattered pieces and crumbs of... Pokébeans.... spread across his floor and table. He hated to think about cleaning that now.. As luck would have it, sleeping peacefully beside the evidence of intrusion and Pokétreat giving was none other than Hau. Stepping around the Pokémon still at his feet, he walked over to the table and looked at the plastic bag still sitting there. A single Pokébean clung to the bottom of it, and he knew just what to do with it.
Deciding to pick it up and walk over towards the couch, Nanu dropped the bag, and bean along with it, atop the boy sleeping there in an effort to stir him awake. “Hey, kid.” He started sternly, hoping that the mix of his voice and the feeling of the bag falling on him would be enough. “What’d I tell you about overfeeding the cats?”
