When I first started approaching polymer clay I was amazed by all the talented people out there making tiny dolls on pendants and things like that. I still am. I tried a few times, didnât like the results and gave up. I know practice makes perfect, but it just didnât feel ârightâ for me. Then I slowly realised I prefer to make simpler stuff, things that allow me to play with colours and shapes. Itâs nothing fancy, really, but I like it, I have fun and itâs relaxing (which also gives me the time to brainstorm for CampNano or just relax, listening to some music while I craft).
I first tried my hand with Bettina Welker pixelated retro cane this winter. I made a whole set (ring, earrings and cuff bracelet) inspired by the colours of Klimtâs palettes. Then, I made a few buttons with the scraps I had. My mom got the cuff as Christmas present and she loves it, and I slowly realised that I really like making pixelated retro canes. It gives me the chance to play with colours, staking them up in different ways and mix them in all sorts of way. I love how I can predict the end result but can only be sure about it once I make the cane. And I really like the whole process.
So yeah, lately itâs been a pixelated retro cane galore, and I can see myself making more and more, with different colour combinations. I already have something in mind, but itâs a present so Iâm not going to write it down for now. Hopefully Iâll be able to post some pictures soon. Meantime, here are the two cuffs and matching pendants I made recently:

Itâs been a few busy days, and while I wait for them to be even busier at work, Iâm trying my best to work on some projects. In the past few days I finished a commision for a friend.
