Casey was midâaeroplane-noise, bouncing Celeste lightly in his arms like she weighed absolutely nothing, when Coralâs voice cut in. His head snapped toward her instantly, grin already there, bright and full and completely unfiltered. "You hear that, princess?â he said to Celeste, gently tapping her nose with his finger, eyes wide in exaggerated shock. âYour mum just exposed us. Said she loves us more than anything. Thatâs, like top-tier information.â Celeste giggled, clutching at his shirt, and Caseyâs whole expression softened for half a second, just a flicker, but it was real. Then he looked back at Coral, already moving toward her like she had gravity all her own. âI mean,â he added, dropping down onto the blanket beside her in one quick, slightly chaotic motion, âgood thing, too, because we are a lot and we both know it." He shifted Celeste into the space between them, steadying her with one arm while immediately reaching for one of the strawberries with the other, holding it up in front of her like it was a grand offering. âBut,â he countered leaning in toward Coral now, voice softer but still laced with that restless energy, âI love you more. Just to keep the competition alive.â He pressed a quick kiss to her cheek, then another, because one clearly wasnât enough, before pulling back with a grin. âAnd her,â he added quickly, tapping Celesteâs little foot. âObviously. Sheâs, like tied for first." Celeste squealed, grabbing for the fruit, and Casey laughed, letting her take the smallest bite from it while he leaned back on one hand, looking between the two of them like he couldnât quite believe they were his. His eyes drifted over what Coral had set outthe blanket laid out perfectly, the strawberries washed and glistening, the apple cut up just right for Celeste, everything placed with this quiet kind of care that made his chest feel weirdly tight. He stilled for a second, really looking at it this time. Then at her. âYouâre,â he let out a small breath, shaking his head with a quiet laugh, âYouâre actually unreal, you know that? You make everything feel sorted. Like, I donât know, like weâre doing life right. Also, these snack choices are elite. Good job, Mommy."
coral would always say she fell for casey at that wedding venue, and that was true, but the truth was she fell a little more in love with him every single day after that. one of the things that made her heart swell the most was the way he cared for celeste. watching him throw himself wholeheartedly into being the best dad he could be made her love him even more. âyou're a lot,â she said with a warm smile, âbut i don't mind.â when he decided to keep their little competition going by insisting he loved her more, she laughed. âat one point i had two hearts beating inside me, so i definitely love you more. you can't win this one.â she stuck her tongue out at him playfully before looking down at celeste between them. their daughter had already picked up a whole piece of fruit in her tiny hand, and coral couldn't help smiling. âis that your offering to the dragon?â she teased as casey held up a strawberry for celeste to grab. coral reached for one herself and took a bite. âoh, we're definitely doing life right,â she said contentedly, propping herself up on one arm to mirror casey as she leaned a little closer. she pressed a quick kiss to his lips. âand good job to you too, dad of the year.â her smile softened. still holding the half-eaten strawberry, she lifted it toward his lips. âit's only half a strawberry,â she pointed out, âbut it's the best strawberry i've ever had.â she grinned. âmy humble offering to the mighty big dragon.â she winked playfully before letting out a content sigh. scooping celeste onto her lap, coral shuffled back until her shoulder rested lightly against casey's, his arm comfortably behind her. she looked at the two people she loved most in the world and smiled to herself. ânow this is what i call a perfect friday afternoon.â
Royalty listened to Coral with an expression that shifted between amused and sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck when she called him a loverboy. A quiet laugh slipped out of him. âAlright, alright,â he said, holding his hands up in surrender. âMaybe a little smitten.â His mouth curved into a grin. âDonât go spreading that around though, Iâve got a rep to protect." His eyes dropped to Celeste as she clapped enthusiastically, the sound tiny but determined. The sight made his grin soften instantly. âOh yeah?â Royalty said, leaning forward slightly as if addressing her directly. âYou backing me up, huh, my little hype girl." When Coral joked that the baby was supporting him being smitten, he placed a hand dramatically over his chest. âThatâs a lot of responsibility for someone who just learned how hands work,â he teased. âBut I appreciate the support, little one. I'll promise not to let you down." At the mention of Casey and Celeste coming with their own terms and conditions, he laughed again, shaking his head. âI believe it,â Royalty said. âCasey alone feels like a whole instruction manual in one. Throw in the baby too and I feel like Iâd need a training course to get use to it all." He nudged Coralâs shoulder back when she bumped him, smiling fondly as he watched her help Celeste clap again. âAnd donât worry,â he added, pointing a finger at her. âYouâll absolutely get a full update. Popcorn, commentary, the whole thing. Might even be a recap of my most embarrassing moments too." When the conversation softened again, his expression followed. Royalty leaned his forearms on his knees, listening carefully as Coral talked about Celeste growing up without being boxed into anything. âYeah,â he said quietly, nodding. âThatâs exactly how it should be.â He glanced down at Celeste again, his smile returning when Coral spoke to her. When the baby started whining and twisting to get down, he chuckled, pushing himself up from where he was sitting. âNah, youâre good,â he assured her. âYou guys donât have to rush out on my account.â He glanced at Celeste again before looking back to Coral with a small, appreciative smile. He glanced between the two of them before gesturing toward the kitchen. âBut at least let me fix you both with a snack before you go,â Royalty added. âWhat do you want, chocolate? biscuits? crisps?â His smile widened slightly as he looked down at Celeste. âAnd donât worry,â he added playfully, âIâm sure we can find something she might like too."
"itâs a lot of responsibility, but she just learned how to clap to support you, which is a big step for the gay community," she joked, laughing at herself. celeste kept clapping for a while until she got bored, still clearly very proud of her new skill. "donât let her down, sheâll want to know her uncle is having a good time," she added with a smile. "yeah, he does, but youâll probably do great, you have your sister," she pointed out, "and if she has as much energy as caseyâs mom says she does⌠youâd survive celeste just fine," she laughed. she really liked nevaeh, she was funny, easy to talk to, and the fact that she got along so well with casey was an instant green flag for coral. "i love that iâm going to get all the details," she added, this time clapping her own hands playfully. when celeste got tired of sitting and started whining and wiggling for coral to put her down, the blonde smiled and gently set her on the floor. her smile lingered as royalty insisted on giving them a snack before they left. "i think iâm in the mood for some crisps," she nodded, getting up from the couch. "sheâll eat anything you give her, sheâs not picky at all," she assured, "when she started crawling, she put everything she found in her mouth, iâm honestly surprised she never got sick," she laughed, shaking her head. "but if not, i might have a little bag of puffed grain snacks somewhere in my bag, you always need fuel for that little machine, imagine if she ran out of energy," she joked, glancing at her daughter running around, giggling and bouncing. "thanks for the update, i really needed it," she added with a small smile.
Casey watched Celeste sprint toward them with a wide grin, his chest warming at how excited she looked. âYeah, thatâs definitely our kid,â he murmured, shaking his head with a grin. When Coral leaned over to kiss his cheek and teased about his energy, he laughed, brushing a hand over his own hair. âYou donât know the half of it,â he said, winking at her. He glanced down at Coral as she repeated the plan. He smiled at the memory, eyes soft as Coral laughed at him. His hand ruffled Celeste's hair lightly. When Coral joked that their daughter could climb a building if they let her, Casey nodded, still smiling. âAbsolutely no doubt in my mind,â he said, gently squeezing Coralâs hand as they walked toward the exit. Caseyâs eyes softened as he watched Celeste grab the pouch with both hands, already bouncing excitedly as she tried to drink from it without spilling a drop. âYeah, yeah, I got her,â he said with a grin, kneeling slightly before scooping her up onto his hip effortlessly. She wriggled a little, giggling, but he held her securely, one hand supporting her back. âDrink slowly, princessâ he murmured, his voice warm, amused. He glanced at Coral, who was smiling fondly, and chuckled. âYou know sheâs going to wear us out before we even make it to the park, right?â Then, leaning down just enough, he pressed his face gently against Celesteâs, scrunching his nose against hers and making her giggle even harder. âYouâre just like your daddy, huh?â he whispered to her, nuzzling softly. A soft laugh escaped him, and he shook his head with genuine admiration. âYour mommyâs got the patience of a saint looking after the both of us and somehow making it look like the easiest thing in the world."
if coral loved something, it was their afternoons together, and friday was definitely her favourite day. as casey picked celeste up so she wouldnât fall while drinking from her yogurt pouch, coral smiled softly, she loved all that energy, loved how their daughter was basically a tiny version of him, it was too cute. she laughed as casey leaned in closer to celeste, making her giggle in his arms. "her mother loves you two more than anything in her life, and she can handle all that energy because of it," she said fondly, letting out a soft sigh as she pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of them, just another one for the growing collection of her two favourite people. she kept walking beside them before guiding them toward a patch of grass, pulling out the blanket she had brought and spreading it on the ground. she was the first to drop down onto it, tapping the spot next to her as she rummaged through the bag. "câmon, i need you two over here with me," she laughed. she pulled out some washed strawberries, a diced apple for celeste, and a couple of muffins, setting everything out neatly. "i think this is more than enough, if not we wonât have dinner later," she added with a small smile.
"Sounds fun. I think she'd love that." Casey had been mid-thought, something overly ambitious involving the park, ice cream, and maybe building a blanket fort at home later, when Celeste came barreling toward them. He immediately dropped one arm from Coral to crouch, arms wide. âThere she is!â he laughed as Celeste squeezed between them. He pressed an exaggerated kiss to the top of her head. âWhoa! Slow down, princess,â he laughed, brushing her blonde hair out of her face. âYou make Daddy look low energy with all that running. And that is saying something.â When Coral asked about the plan, Casey straightened up, still holding Celesteâs hand and swinging it lightly. His brain fired in five directions at once, but he grinned anyway. âOkay, hear me out. Park first. We let this one,"- he gently booped Celesteâs noseââburn off approximately a thousand percent of her energy. Then dinner. Somewhere with fries. And maybe crayons. Very important criteria.â He glanced down at Celeste. âYou thinking swings? Or are we climbing everything in sight today?â Then he looked back at Coral, squeezing her hand with a warm, boyish smile. âYeah. Letâs go. Friday family adventure officially starts now.â He leaned his head gently against Coral's smiling down at their daughter. âHow did we make the prettiest human being alive?â he murmured, genuinely awed. Then he tilted his head slightly toward Coral. âActually, scratch that. She gets it from her mama. I was just lucky enough to be involved.â He kissed Coralâs temple without missing a beat, still grinning. âThose eyes? Grandma Owens. That smile? Definitely yours. The chaotic sprinting through public spaces?â He tapped his chest. âOkay, fine. That partâs me.â
coral loved her loud, energetic little family more than anything; sheâd never been this happy before. seeing celeste sprint toward them made her heart swell instantly. âshe literally canât slow down, itâs impossible,â she chuckled as the teacher laughed and handed over the toddlerâs tiny backpack. âoh donât worry,â coral added, leaning over to kiss caseyâs cheek, âyou donât look like youâve got any less energy either.â when he mentioned the plan again, she nodded like she was mentally preparing herself. âpark first,â she repeated. âand yeah, we definitely need something with bothâpainting and snacksâbut we should paint first or weâll end up confusing the crayons for chips again.â she laughed softly. âlast time we tried multitasking we got an oily picture and a crayon covered in blue chip dust, remember?â she glanced down at celeste. âright, baby?â âi want chips,â the little girl suddenly declared, stopping just to bounce in place. coral raised her eyebrows. âchips it isâeasy decision.â holding caseyâs hand as they walked, she smiled fondly. âi swear she could climb a building if we let her.â as they headed out of the school, she looked down at celeste again, but caseyâs little rant about their daughter stopped her from answering right away. coral grinned. âperfect description,â she agreed warmly. âsheâs the perfect mix of both of us.â after a second she glanced between them. âdo we think she can walk and eat?â she wondered aloud, already letting go of caseyâs hand to dig through her bag until she found a fruit purĂŠe pouch. âbaby, do you want a snack?â she askedâknowing the answer already. she twisted the cap open and handed it to celeste, who grabbed it with both hands immediately. coral laughed softly and looked over at casey. âokay, pick her up before she faceplants while drinking that.â
Royalty didnât even try to hide his grin as Coral started squealing. He shook his head, laughing under his breath while Celeste clapped along, clearly pleased with herself. âDonât gas me up too much,â Royalty teased, though the warmth creeping into his cheeks gave him away. âIâm not smitten.â He paused. ââŚOkay, maybe a little.â His eyes softened watching Coral kiss Celesteâs hair, something tender flickering across his expression. âThat clap thing is elite parenting, by the way,â he added, nodding toward the baby. âShe's a little hype lady now, huh?" At the mention of Benji facing Nevaehâs rapid-fire interrogation, Royalty laughed outright. âSee, thatâs exactly what I told him. I said, âYou think youâre prepared, but youâre not.ââ He lifted a brow playfully. âI might actually bring popcorn.â When Coral talked about giving Celeste space to become whoever she wanted, Royaltyâs expression shifted, softer, thoughtful. He watched his best friend with a quiet kind of admiration. âYouâre already doing it,â he said gently. âSheâs going to grow up knowing she can be anything because you never boxed her in.â Royalty huffed a small laugh, trying, and failing, to play it cool. âYou make it sound so dramatic.â But his smile betrayed him. It wasnât dramatic. It was real. When Coral leaned against his shoulder, Royalty let her, bumping her lightly in return. âIf he melts, Iâm blaming you,â he added playfully. âBut yeah, I think youâre right.â He gaze lifted again, steady now. âI am in love,â he admitted, finally owning it. âHe should know how I feel, right?â he said, voice steadying. âThat way heâll know heâs got a safe space with me. No guessing. No second-guessing. Just something solid.â
coralâs eyebrows lifted when he said he wasnât smittenâonly for him to correct himself a second later. she smiled warmly. âyou can be smitten, you know. thereâs nothing wrong with that,â she assured him. âyouâre a loverboy, and thatâs a good thing.â she glanced down as celeste kept clapping enthusiastically, fascinated by her own hands. coral chuckled softly. âof course, we all need some baby claps from time to time. sheâs clearly supporting you being smitten over your new boyfriendâyou should feel honored.â she winked playfully. âthatâs the plan anyway. sheâll grow up supporting uncle royaltyâs rights and wrongs.â when the conversation shifted to casey and celeste, coral laughed lightly. âtrust me, you canât really prepare for them. they come with their own terms and conditions. eventually you get used to it, but at first itâs likeâwow, thatâs a lot happening all at once.â she grinned fondly; she wouldnât change her boyfriend for anything. âand yes, popcorn is absolutely required. iâm going to need a full update on how that goes,â she added. when the topic turned more serious, coralâs expression softened. she had never planned to tell celeste who she had to be or who she should loveâthat would always belong to her daughter. âthatâs always been the idea,â coral nodded. âhonestly, casey and i never even had a big conversation about it. we both just knew we werenât going to box her into anything.â she bumped shoulders back when royalty nudged her, laughing. âof course you are,â she said as she gently held celesteâs little wrists, helping her clap again. âand hey⌠if heâs still in the closet, maybe hearing how you feel could actually help him,â she added gently. âmight make him feel a little braver.â she looked down at the baby again. âceleste,â coral called softly. the little girl turned her head. âuncle royalty deserves to be happy, right?â coral chuckled when celeste just stared at her. âthatâs a yes. i can read my babyâs mind.â right on cue, celeste started whining, twisting in coralâs hands as she tried to get down to the floor. coral laughed. âokayâsitting time is officially over.â she looked back at royalty. âand hey, if you need us to leave at any point, just say it. weâll probably have to head home soon anyway and get her something proper to eat.â
it was friday, which meant their favorite routineâpicking celeste up together and claiming the afternoon as family time. coral and casey stood in line outside the kindergarten classroom, moving slowly with the other parents, caseyâs arms wrapped comfortably around coralâs back. coral glanced over her shoulder at her with a soft smile. âso whatâs the plan? park first and then dinner out?â she asked quietly. before casey could answer, celesteâs teacher called out, and their blonde whirlwind came running toward them. âmama!â she beamed. the teacher gently reminded her sheâd forgotten her bag, but coral was already stepping forward to grab it. âthank you, have a nice weekend,â she smiled politely before rejoining her little family. she crouched slightly to kiss celesteâs cheek. âhow was your day, baby?â coral asked softly. âgood!â celeste replied proudly, squeezing between them. coral stood again, slipping her hand back into caseyâs. âshould we go?â she asked warmly, already picturing the park swings and sticky fingers from dinner after. @casey--owens
Royalty laughed softly, shaking his head as Coral talked, that easy smile settling on his face. âYeah,â he said, voice warm and a little bashful, âthatâs exactly it. Like I could be anywhere, but Iâd still rather be wherever Benji is.â He listened as she talked about Casey, nodding along, clearly getting it. "I'm still learning but I'm down to learn. He's interesting enough to want to get to know as something more." At the mention of Nevaeh, he laughed again. âOh, trust me, Benjiâs been warned. Repeatedly,â he teased. âI think they will get along though. The two are both opposites but she's kind and he's got a nice heart." He hoped they would make friends one day soon. It'd be nice to have a get together at the same time. When she handed his phone back, he rolled his eyes playfully. âOkay, but donât encourage me,â he joked. He smiled at Coralâs last words, touched. âThatâs all I want too, for her to feel loved and safe. Royalty smiled at that, nodding gently. âCelesteâs got good parents whoâll keep her grounded and honestly, thatâs what matters most. Everything else, sheâll figure out in her own time.â Royalty glanced down at his phone, and when the lockscreen lit up, he let out a soft laugh. He pressed a hand to his chest, smiling to himself as he took in the picture of his boyfriend. âAh, damn,â he murmured fondly, shaking his head. âHeâs so fucking cute. I didn't realise I would be this much in my feels with him."
coral looked at her best friend with a wide grin. âthatâs so cute, ah!â she squealed. âyou sound so smitten itâs insane, i love it.â she clapped excitedly, which immediately made celeste clap too, and coral laughed. âsee? coolest trick ever,â she said proudly before leaning down to press a kiss to the babyâs hair. when royalty mentioned warning benji about his sister, coral smiled knowingly. nevaeh and casey had been chaos in matching sneakers since they were kids, so she could only imagine the energy benji was about to experience. âoh, sheâs super nice,â coral assured with a soft chuckle, âbut yeah⌠he better stretch beforehand. the questions come fast and thereâs no commercial breaks.â at the praise about her parents giving her space to figure life out, coralâs smile softened. âthatâs the dream,â she said gently. âlet this little princess be whoever she wants, do whatever she wants⌠just preferably far, far away from sharp objects.â she poked celesteâs sides lightly. âright, baby?â the tiny giggle that followed made her beam. then she turned back to her best friend, eyes warm. âyouâre in love, my man,â she nodded knowingly. âand i am so ridiculously happy for you.â she leaned her head against her shoulder affectionately. âyou have to tell him how you feel. if heâs the softie iâm picturing, heâs going to absolutely melt.â
Casey laughed under his breath, slow and smug, eyes flicking up to meet Coralâs. âI couldnât say no to you if I tried,â he said easily. âAnd trust me, you make sure I donât try very hard.â He tilted his head slightly, watching her reaction, clearly enjoying it. When she admitted she did it on purpose, Casey grinned, unapologetic. âOh, I know,â he said. âYou learned real fast which buttons to push.â Her promise that he always turned her on only made him chuckle, cocky and pleased. âYeah,â Casey replied, brushing close, âbecause you never give me a break. Not once. You call me that and expect me to behave?â When Coral whispered what she wanted, Casey paused just long enough to make it dramatic. Then he smirked. âYou really donât do subtle,â he said, amused. âYou go straight for the knockout every time.â He leaned in, voice low and teasing. âBut donât act like this is all on me,â Casey added. âYou know exactly what youâre doing when you say things like that.â His grin softened just a touch, still playful, still confident. âAnd the funny part?â he murmured. âIâd fall for it every single time.âCasey didnât even break eye contact when he lifted his hands and clapped once, sharp and deliberate. The light snapped off, plunging the room into darkness except for the faint glow slipping in from outside. He smiled to himself, cocky as ever.
What followed didnât need words. Casey leaned back into her space with intent, the kind that left no room for doubt. Any teasing grin heâd worn earlier faded into focus, confidence taking over as he went to work like heâd been promised something and planned to collect. Time blurred after that. By the time it was over, Casey was breathing hard, chest rising and falling as he rolled onto his side, one arm draped lazily as if he didnât have the energy to move it yet. Sweat clung to his skin, long hair damp again, a satisfied exhale leaving him as he stared up at the ceiling. âDamn,â he finally breathed, half-laughing, still catching his breath. âYou made me work for that."
coral had always known exactly which buttons to press, which words to murmur, which silences to stretch just long enough for casey to follow her wherever she wanted to lead, and she loved that about themâhow easily they fell into that rhythm, how a simple challenge could spiral into tangled sheets, messy hair, and breathless laughter. when he rolled onto his side to look at her, she smiled softly and shifted closer, resting her head against his chest, her hand sliding lazily over his abs while she caught her breath. âyou know i always do,â she murmured, pressing a light kiss to his skin before glancing up at him. âbut i think we made a pretty good mess,â she teased, a satisfied grin tugging at her lips. âguess we had a lot of tension built up.â her fingers traced idle patterns as she studied him. âyou look exhausted. casey, youâre so out of shape,â she joked lightly. âmaybe grandma needs to watch celeste more often so you donât forget how this works.â she leaned in to kiss him again, softer this time. âi love you more than anything,â she said quietly, sincerity slipping through the teasing tone. then her eyes sparkled with mischief. âand even if you lose your practice tomorrow, i hope youâre proud of your performance tonight⌠because i might need to buy a pregnancy test soon.â she propped herself up on her forearm so she could properly see his reaction, a playful challenge in her gaze. âso,â she smirked, brushing her thumb along his jaw, âare you ready to face the consequences of this mess?â
Royalty laughed easily along with her, the kind that came from his chest. âThree might actually be the right number,â he grinned. âYou've got the perfect little family but I don't know how you deal with all that energy bundled into two of your favourite people at the same time." At the story about the puddle, he winced dramatically before laughing. âOkay, okay, I take it back,â he said, holding up his hands. âThatâs funny but also a little gross." Her comparison made him laugh harder. âTiny Casey energy? Yeah, I can see it already. That look of pure confidence while doing something wildly unhinged.â He softened a little then. âYouâre doing an incredible job though, Coral. Even when itâs messy. Everyone can see that you're a great mom." When she mentioned the early days of a relationship, his smile turned fond. âIt really is like that,â he agreed. âEverything feels electric at the start. Iâm trying to enjoy it without rushing through it.â At the comment about Nevaeh, he laughed again. âOh, absolutely. No oneâs safe from her curiosity. I'l need to warn Benji before she along and scares the hell out of him with all her questions that need answering." As she took his phone, he didnât protestâjust watched, amused, as she scrolled. âHey, donât expose me like that,â he joked, shaking his head. âListen, if youâve got it, youâve got it,â he said with a shrug. Then, more sincerely, âBut yeahâheâs special." Royaltyâs gaze shifted naturallyâfrom Coral, to Celeste in her arms, then back againâhis smile softening in a way that felt unguarded. He chuckled quietly. âRight?â he said, easy confidence laced with warmth. âHeâs cute. Definitely my type.â He glanced at Celeste again, amused, then added with a playful hum, âI do wonder what her type will be one day. Way, way in the far future,â he emphasised lightly, grinning. âSomething tells me sheâs going to have opinions. Strong ones. I wonder if she'll be into blondes, brunettes, tall people, short people âathletic build or not. I feel like sheâs gonna surprise us all.â
coral looked at her best friend with a smile on her lips. âyeah, thatâs how itâs supposed to feel, electric in a way that makes you want to be around him all the time no matter what,â coral smiled, genuinely happy that royalty had found his person, the boy who made him smile and look so happy. she remembered when she met casey at that wedding, how the world seemed to stop and she wanted it to stay that way, how everything felt brighter when he was around, when all she wanted was for him to text her. in a way they had changed, the passion was still there, the longing to be together remained, but it had blossomed into something deeper than that honeymoon phase. âjust enjoy it, itâs really nice, it turns into something better, but the first months? ugh, you learn a lot of things from your boyfriend, for sure,â she chuckled softly. when he mentioned having to warn benji about nevaeh she laughed. âoh, you definitely have to, she has a lot of energy, i do know,â she chuckled, knowing how close casey and nevaeh were, how long theyâd known each other. her attention shifted back to his photos and she laughed at his words. âof course, if i looked this good, iâd take all those shirtless pictures and more,â she promised, handing him back his phone before wrapping her arms around the baby. âheâs your type for sure,â she assured. coral leaned down to kiss celesteâs blonde hair. âi donât know,â she mused, âoh, sheâs going to have opinions for sure,â she nodded, âof course sheâs going to surprise us, sheâs caseyâs daughter,â coral laughed. âall i want is for her to find the person who makes her feel loved and safe, the same way you feel when youâre with benji,â she nodded.
"Touche. I'll give you rest breaks to catch your breath and get snacks." Casey nearly short-circuited at her teasingâheat rushing up his neck, a breathless laugh slipping out before he could stop it. He shook his head, eyes blown wide with want as he carried her. âYeah? Good,â he murmured, unabashed and burning. âBecause I donât do half-measures. If Iâm yours, you get all of me.â His hands steadied her, reverent and certain, like he still couldnât believe she was real and was all of his. The second she said that wordâdaddyâhe was gone. A sharp inhale, a muttered curse, eyes dark and locked on her like she was the only thing left in the world. At her final tease, Casey let out a shaky laugh, confidence flaring even through the flush. He leaned in close, voice rough with truth. âOh, absolutely,â he said softly, voice thick with flirt and confidence, eyes never leaving hers. âBecause when you say it like that, it feels like an invitation and a challenge both at the same damn time." He chuckled under his breath, clearly flustered but owning it. âYou know exactly what youâre doing to me,â he added, tone warm and teasing, âand the fact you do it on purpose?â His grin turned dangerous. âYeah. Thatâs insanely attractive as are you.â Casey lined up into the right position between her legs before starting to slowly push in. It'd been a while, too long, actually. His hands planted against the mattress either side of her head as he went slightly deeper than before. "Am I turning you on right now? Freshly showered, stark naked, and making promise after promise of making you cum all night long."
coralâs eyes twinkled in excitement. âi knew you wouldnât be able to say no to me if i asked nicely,â she winked at him playfully, her hands moving up his stomach and chest. âi donât want half-measures, in the same way i wouldnât want you to stop until weâre both panting and tired,â she smiled, playfulness in her voice. she knew what that nickname did to casey; she had learned about it after their first pregnancy. there was something in that word that drove casey crazy, and coral loved getting that reaction from him every time she wanted something and used it. she noticed how he cursed under his breath, and she bit down on her lower lip, looking at him. âof course i do, i love it,â she promised, a whisper falling from her lips. âof course i do it on purpose, itâs hot,â she added. a gasp fell from her lips as casey pushed himself inside her, her hands moving to the back of his hair, fingers threading through his long hair. âyou always turn me on,â she promised, biting her lower lip as she took a deep breath. âi just want you so bad,â she said softly, her legs moving to wrap around him, pulling him closer. âi want another baby,â she whispered. âplease, casey, i need it,â she begged, her voice just above a whisper. âmake the neighbours hate me for moaning and screaming your name.â
coral was curled into the corner of the couch, one leg tucked under her, the other dangling, a blanket pulled halfway up her lap more out of habit than need. the living room lights were dim, curtains half drawn, the glow of the tv washing everything in warm greens and golds. celeste was sprawled on the floor with her coloring book open, crayons scattered like confetti around her, the movie playing mostly in the background at first. coral hadnât grown up with nights like this. disney movies had existed in her childhood, sure, but theyâd played on screens she watched alone, volume low, no one sitting close enough to laugh or comment or explain things. sheâd promised herselfâlong before celeste was even bornâthat her kid wouldnât grow up like that. so she sat there, every night she could, present and intentional, quietly stitching something back together inside herself while she did it.
tarzan was on now, the jungle filling the screen with movement and sound. at some point celeste stopped coloring altogether, the crayon slipping from her fingers. coral noticed it right away, the way mothers do, and smiled softly when she saw her daughterâs little mouth hanging open, eyes wide and reflective. âbaby,â she murmured gently, patting the couch beside her, âdonât you wanna come sit with me?â celeste didnât even look back. ânope,â she said, completely serious, eyes glued to the screen. coral laughed under her breath, fond and a little amazed. four years old already. four. yesterday sheâd barely been talking, and now she had opinions and favorites and characters she identified with. time was moving too fast, and coral wishedâjust for a secondâthat she could press pause.
âhe looks like daddy,â celeste said suddenly, pointing at the screen as tarzan swung through the vines. coral blinked, then followed her gaze, a grin spreading across her face. âhe does, right?â she chuckled. âuncle nate calls your dad tarzan sometimes.â celeste hummed thoughtfully, then twisted around on the floor to face her mom fully. âdoes that make uncle nate⌠terk?â coral snorted before she could stop herself. âyeah,â she said, laughing, âthat could totally work. and flynn is definitely tantor.â âthatâs true,â celeste nodded solemnly, like this was a very important conclusion, before turning back to the tv. coral hugged her knees, warmth blooming in her chest as the movie continued. she barely realized she was tearing up until celeste spoke again. âand youâre like jane,â she added, casual and sincere. coralâs breath caught. âthatâs really sweet of you, cece,â she said softly, her voice just a little thicker. celeste thought for another moment. âand iâm a gorilla,â she decided, as if this was the only logical option. before coral could respond, celeste was up, dropping to all fours and stomping around the living room, chest puffed out, making low growling noises. she tripped over a pillow, popped back up like nothing happened, and kept going.
the front door opened mid-growl. âiâm home,â casey called out, keys clattering into the bowl by the door. âhow are my two girls doââ he stopped when he fully registered the scene. coral looked over her shoulder, already laughing. âcareful, babe,â she said, grinning, âwe have a gorilla in our living room.â celeste growled louder in response, clearly proud. casey didnât even hesitate. his face lit up instantly, and without dropping his bag he sank down onto his hands and knees, matching celesteâs stance. âoh no,â he said dramatically, âa wild one?â celeste squealed. âdaddy!â coral shook her head, laughing harder now. âgreat. now i have two.â casey crawled forward, completely committed, making exaggerated jungle noises, his movements chaotic and enthusiastic in that unmistakable casey wayâtoo loud, too fast, all heart and no restraint. celeste stopped suddenly and pointed at him. âno, mommy. daddy is tarzan.â casey froze, looked up at coral with mock offense. coral wiped at her eyes, still smiling. âoh,â she said, playing along, âyeah, sorry. my mistake. now i have a gorilla and tarzan in my living room.â casey beamed, crawled over, and pressed a dramatic kiss to coralâs knee before springing back up. the movie played on in the background, forgotten for the moment, but coral didnât mind. thisâthis noise, this mess, this loveâwas exactly what sheâd wanted to give her daughter. exactly what sheâd never had.
coral was still laughing when casey crawled across the rug, palms flat, knees thumping softly against the floor, fully committing to the bit like he always did. there was something about him like thisâunfiltered, playful, presentâthat made her chest ache in the best way. heâd barely had time to kick off his shoes, hoodie still halfway zipped, hair damp from the cold outside, and yet here he was, on all fours in the middle of the living room because his daughter had decided she was a gorilla. celeste circled him once, curious and proud, then plopped down on her butt and stared at him expectantly, like she was waiting to see if heâd pass some invisible test.
casey glanced at the tv just in time to see tarzan and janeâs hands pressed together on the screen, that quiet, intimate moment where the world slows down. his eyes lit up immediately. âoh,â he said, pushing himself upright onto his knees, voice dropping into something softer, exaggeratedly serious. âhold on. i know this part.â coral groaned before he even started. âcaseyââ ânope,â he cut in, already scooting closer to her, âthis is important cultural education.â
he reached for coralâs hand, gentle despite the dramatics, spreading her fingers wide and pressing his palm against hers, mimicking the screen perfectly. his hand was bigger, rougher, knuckles a little scraped from work, but he handled her like she was made of glass. he looked down at their hands, then up at her face, eyes wide and earnest in a way that was both ridiculous and weirdly tender. âme jane,â he said solemnly, nodding at her hand, then gestured to himself with his thumb. âyou⌠tarzan.â coral burst out laughing, the sound loud and unrestrained, the kind that made her lean forward and squeeze his arm. âthatâs not even the line,â she protested, still smiling. âi donât care,â he said simply, grinning. âit works.â
celeste gasped like sheâd just witnessed something magical. she scrambled over, grabbed coralâs other hand, and slapped her tiny palm against it. âme baby gorilla,â she declared proudly. caseyâs face melted instantly. âoh no,â he whispered, clutching his chest. âiâm done. i canât compete with that.â coralâs laughter softened into something warmer, her eyes stinging just a little as she looked at the two of themâher boyfriend kneeling on the floor, her daughter wedged between them, all of them reflected faintly in the dark tv screen like a snapshot she wanted to keep forever.
casey leaned over and pressed a kiss to celesteâs hair, then another to coralâs knuckles, lingering just a second longer than necessary. his energy buzzed around the roomârestless, affectionate, everywhere at onceâas he shifted, stood up, then immediately dropped back down again when celeste growled at him. âright,â he said quickly, âsorry. tarzan duties.â he beat his chest once, dramatically, then froze when celeste copied him, much smaller but just as serious. coral shook her head, smiling so hard her cheeks hurt. âyouâre teaching her chaos,â she said. âi was born chaos,â he replied, without missing a beat.
eventually, they all settledâcasey scooping celeste up and plopping down on the couch beside coral, the toddler wedged happily between them, legs kicked up over caseyâs lap. the movie resumed, jungle sounds filling the room again. casey kept whispering commentary under his breath, fingers tapping absent rhythms against coralâs knee, his attention split in a dozen directions the way it always was. coral leaned into him, resting her head against his shoulder, breathing him in. for a moment, everything felt still. safe. full. and as tarzan swung across the screen again, celeste yawned, heavy and content, and coral thoughtâthis is it. this is the part of life i never knew i needed, and now iâll never let go.
Royalty laughed, a low, easy sound that mirrored Coralâs energy perfectly. He leaned back against the couch, eyes sparkling as he listened to her chatter. âSounds like someoneâs going to need a double espresso just to keep up with this tiny little hurricane.â His grin was playful, but soft, warmâgenuine fondness in every glance. Royalty leaned a little closer, matching her grin. âCosey⌠it's cute, huh? It rolls off the tongue. I think I'm going to you refer to you as that as a pair." He laughed warmly at her confession about the diapers. âNot perfect?â he repeated, mock horror in his tone, though his eyes stayed soft and amused. âTrust me, disasters like that just make life more interesting. Youâre doing great.â When Coral went quiet to listen to him talk about the guy on his mind, Royaltyâs chest warmed. She had that way of making him feel seen, even in small moments. He smiled, leaning back, letting her excitement wash over him. "Yeah⌠okay, fine. Iâve got that glint youâre talking about. In love, totally. And honestly? Itâs kind of amazing.â His laugh was soft, affectionate, teasing. He grinned at her warning about Nevaeh. âGot itâslow introduction. No scaring him off. Iâll take notes.â The little toddlerâs tiny movements, the way she wriggled just enough to demand attention, made his chest tighten with affection. He shifted slightly, scooting closer, and rested his head gently against the top of Celesteâs, careful not to disturb her. âYouâre so cute,â he murmured softly, voice warm and low, brushing his fingers lightly along her tiny arm. His lips lifted in a gentle smile as he let himself settle there, letting the quiet warmth of the moment wrap around him. Royalty held out his phone toward Coral, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. âGo on my phone,â he said, voice smooth and teasing, âtype in the passcode, have a look at his photos in my album.â He leaned back slightly, giving her room but watching her every move. âJust⌠be careful, okay?â he added, a soft laugh in his voice. âI donât know what all the photos are going to be, and⌠donât watch any videos.â
at his words coral laughed. âa double espresso? iâll need three,â she joked, shaking her head. she loved her daughter more than words could ever explain, and she loved the constant energy that filled her home, but sometimes she knew she couldnât quite match it, and maybe that was okayâmaybe she was meant to be the calm part of their familyâs equation. âcosie is cute, i like it,â she chuckled. âmake life more interesting?â she scoffed. âyouâve never cleaned a puddle of peeâif you had, trust me, you wouldnât call it interesting,â she laughed. âit was like she wanted maximum chaos; when i tried to clean her up, she just toddled away, turning back to look at me like, âyou canât catch me,â and thatâs when i saw casey, in tiny form,â she added, laughing again. âbut hearing that from you helps,â she smiled softly. when the conversation shifted to his relationship, her expression softened. âof course itâs amazingâthe first months of a relationship are so exciting. not that it goes away if itâs meant for you, but the beginning? ugh, so cute,â she smiled. âand we both know nevaehâsheâll probably ask him his take on organic tampons whether he gets periods or not,â she laughed. watching how gentle and natural he was with celeste made her chest tighten in the best way. she took his phone. âyou sent him videos? wow, i thought i was the crazy one, but i was so wrong,â she teased, snapping a quick picture of her daughter and royalty together before scrolling. âso cuteâyouâre making my heart melt, fucker,â she chuckled, then raised her brows as she looked through the album. âokay⌠royalty, thatâs a lot of shirtless, but damn, heâs really cuteâlike, insanely cute.â
âHalf time?â he echoed, voice dipping into a flirty rasp as he tried â and failed â to hide his grin. âBabe, youâre talking like Iâm the one whoâs gonna need the break.â But then she said it â really said it â and any joking comeback he had evaporated. When she repeated the make me a baby comment, sassier, challenging him, he let out a choked, flustered laugh. â...You canât just drop that on me in a hallway,â he managed, running a hand through his hair, trying so hard to keep his cool despite the way his pulse spiked. âYouâre actually trying to kill me.â Her smack to his ass made him flinch and laugh â a real one, flustered and delighted. By the time he laid her on the bed, his playful bravado had grown into something steadier, more certain. He leaned over her, eyes flicking to her bitten lip, and the grin that pulled at his mouth was both dangerous and boyishly nervous. âSacrifice?â he teased, voice dropping as he braced his hands on either side of her. âYouâre acting like Iâm not getting the best deal in the universe here.â When she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, he melted into the space between them without a fight. Her words â greatest parents ever â hit him like a warm rush to the chest, grounding him even as they thrilled him. Then she purred that question and Caseyâs composure broke entirely. His breath hitched, cheeks flushing again despite the way he tried to smirk through it. âOkayâ nope, thatâs it,â he said, voice cracking into a flustered laugh before he steadied it, leaning in closer. His eyes darkened, focus sharpening in a way that made the air between them feel electric. That one word had a gravity all its own â and he wasnât about to pretend it didnât hit him straight in the chest. âDaddy, huh?â he echoed, letting it roll off his tongue like it belonged there. His hands moved almost instinctively, bracing on either side of her as he hovered close, heart hammering, teasing and tender all at once. The flustered heat in his chest clashed with the confidence in his stance; he thrived on it, every word from her a spark he couldnât resist. His eyes lit up. He couldnât help the small, flustered laugh that escaped him, and he dragged his tongue over his bottom lip, a mix of teasing and disbelief written across his face. âDaddyâs got work to do,â he said, grinning, voice low and playful. âSpread your legs." He lingered there, confident yet clearly thrilled, leaning just enough to make the moment electric with charm and anticipation â all flirty, thriving, and completely caught up in her energy.
coral bit down her lower lip at his words. âoh no, iâll be the one wanting to get a little snack in between. not everything is about you, baby,â she teased, winking at him playfully. his reaction to the baby comment was incredible, enough to have coral stopping herself from laughing. âwhere do you want me to drop that? youâre carrying me down the hallway,â she laughed, knowing deep down those words worked wonders on both of them. âiâm just trying to give you the best experience,â she retorted. âi know iâm getting the best dealâthatâs what comes in the package with you,â she flirted, smiling back at him. that was exactly where coral wanted to be, that close to casey, her arms around him, his hands on either side of her body, murmuring soft words and making her want him to cave in the same way his words always made her melt into the mattress. coral knew what her words did to him; it was easy for her to tell when he was about to break, and using the word âdaddyâ worked every single time. she couldnât help laughing at his âthatâs itââshe had cracked him. his eyes darkened, and all coral could do was bite down on her lower lip. her heart raced in her chest, and she let herself enjoy the moment. her eyes met his, and she felt a whole zoo in her stomach. âhe does,â she teased, opening her legs as he told her to. she lay there beneath him, content, leaning on her elbows to look at him with a devilish, teasing smirk on her lips. âdoes it turn you on when i call you daddy?â
He hoisted her up lightly, carrying her down the hall. "You'll last?" he questioned. Her energy was contagious, and he felt his own smile widen. "My plan isn't too make you wait out your own pleasure until we get to the last room. I want to make you come over and over." Casey froze for a heartbeat, caught off guard by her boldness. Even in the middle of a hallway dash, she had a way of making everything feel charged and alive. He laughed, shaking his head, and carried her on, already thinking about how impossible it was not to be completely captivated by her. For a heartbeat, everything stilled. The sound of her wordsâmake me a baby, Casey Owensâhung between them, heavy and sweet, like the last drop of honey before it falls. He stopped in the middle of the hallway, Coral still slung over his shoulder. casey tilted his head, looking up at her where she dangled, her hair spilling down and brushing against his back. âSay that again,â he murmured, his voice low, the roughness in it betraying the way her words had sunk straight through him. He didnât let her finish. "You really want that?â he asked, quieter now, almost reverent. Something inside him cracked open at thatâsomething deeper than desire. This woman. She was home to him. The wild, unpredictable, beautiful kind of home that you never stopped wanting to come back to. He carried her the rest of the way, slow this time, every step deliberate. The playfulness was still there, simmering under the surface, but now it mixed with something quieter, heavier. He set her down on the bed. âOh, sweetheart,â he murmured, voice dropping low, all smoke and mischief. âYou say that like you donât know what happens next.â He tilted his head, giving her that signature wink. âI can give you all my kids⌠just gotta let me work overtime tonight. Mm, I mean it. Every single one. Gonna make sure you feel every bit of my dedication to the cause.â
surprises were granted when she was with casey, no matter what they were doing, if it was doing chores, shopping or having some time alone, he would never cease to surprise her in the best ways. "oh, so iâwow," she chuckled, "literally speechless, we'll spend so much time doing this, i hope you plan on taking a half time to have a snack or water or something" she joked, excited about the thought of simply enjoying themselves for longer than five minutes. she noticed how he stopped in the middle of the hallway. her words had the reaction she was expecting, her words weren't only a challenge or something to turn him on, she had been thinking about it, she was ready for another baby, and she'd love a little sibling for celeste. she stayed quiet, holding her laughter. "i want you to make me a baby, casey owens" she repeated, her tone sassier as if it was a challenge. "i want everything with you, you know that" she said softly, "i would love to tell you how much i want that but it's a little difficult when i can't talk to your face, but your butt, buttface, please take us to the bed already" she mused, needy, playful, she smacked his ass. as he walked to the bed, she smiled, he placed her down and she couldn't help biting down on her lower lip. "i'm glad you're willing to sacrifice yourself for me to be happy, what a man" she smiled, her arms moving to wrap around his neck, pulling him in. "now, let's be the greatest parents ever and give celeste a little sibling" she smirked. "do you want me to repeat that sentence again or are you turned on enough, baby?" she purred, "or should i say daddy?"
Moments like this always hit a little different. Watching Coral with her babyâCeleste âwas something he never quite got used to. Sheâd changed, softened in the most beautiful way, and yet she was still the same Coral who laughed too loud and teased him like it was a sport. He was sat on the couch, Celeste perched in front of him, tiny hands reaching for his face like he was the most fascinating thing in her world. It made him laugh every time. âShe really is something,â he said, glancing up at Coral with a grin. âGot your charm already, clearly genetic.â He saw how her eyes softened when she looked at her daughterâthe same warmth she used to save for late-night talks or spontaneous adventures. Now it was reserved for this tiny person who owned her whole heart. "Guess sheâs got good taste,â he joked lightly, though there was real affection in his tone. âShe looks at you the same way, though. Like youâre her whole worldâand letâs be real, you kind of are. She's got that love sick expression that Casey gets." Her words about not being able to say no to Celeste made him laugh under his breath. âOh, youâre doomed. That girlâs going to have you wrapped around her finger by the time she can form full sentences.â He smiled, reaching forward so Celeste could grab his finger, her tiny grip strong and determined. When Coral teased about âCosey time,â his eyebrow lifted in mock offense. âCosey,â he said suddenly, testing the sound of it. When Coral arched a brow at him, he laughed, gesturing between them. âCoseyâCasey and Coral, but also like cosy time, yâknow?â Her mention of Grandma Owens made him laugh again. âPlease, Iâd pay to see that showdown. Grandma Owens versus Royalty for prime babysitting rightsâwinner takes cuddle duty.â He glanced between Coral and her kid, his voice softening when Coral talked about how surreal motherhood still felt. âSheâs magic,â he murmured, meaning it. âAnd youâyouâre like, annoyingly good at this. The whole mom thing suits you. You were always meant for this,â he said quietly. âYou and herâyeah, thatâs the kind of happy that people write songs about. Good job you date a singer, huh?" Then, when the conversation turned to himâto the guy heâd been talking toâRoyalty felt that familiar mix of excitement and uncertainty stir inside. Coralâs reassurance steadied him. â âYeah?â he asked, smiling faintly, his thumb brushing over Celeste's hand. "I donât know,â he started, almost like he was talking to himself. Then his eyes flicked to Coralâs, the corners of his mouth pulling into a small, nervous smile. âI know Iâm guy crazy, but heâs⌠different.â Royalty let out a shaky laugh, shaking his head. âI think Iâm falling hard for him,â he admitted, words tumbling out before he could take them back. âLike, actually falling. And thatâs new for me, you know?â He rubbed the back of his neck, glancing down at Celeste, who was now grabbing onto his sleeve like she didnât want to let go either. âI just donât want to scare him too fast. Heâs⌠softer than the guys I usually go for. He listens. He looks at me like I matter.â
talking to royalty was one of coralâs favourite things; he was able to match her craziness and playfulness in a way she loved. the way he knew when to be soft, gentle, or the life of the party depending on the moment was amazing, and she felt so comfortable around her best friendâshe always had. âevery time i look at her i see more of casey,â she said softly, ânot just because of that look, i feel like sheâs got so much energy bottled up in that tiny body,â she chuckled. ânothing bad about that, but when she can walk properly and talk, i feel like iâll have a little version of my boyfriend running around our place, and i already need to babyproof it more.â she laughed. âyouâre going to fight my mother-in-law to spend time with my baby? am i bad for wanting to see that?â she teased, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. âyeah, itâs a cute ship name, i didnât know people actually did that for real people, but i like it. youâre onto something, royalty.â she smiled, leaning against the couch. âcosey⌠iâll tell him later,â she chuckled, looking at celeste. âannoyingly good at this? iâm constantly failing, i just donât brag about it,â she joked. âi havenât told casey this,â she leaned closer as if she were about to confess something awful, âi bought the wrong size diapers and, well⌠the princess made a mess toddling around because of me, so the house was a disaster, and i have those diapers hidden in a wardrobeâso everything is not perfect,â she laughed. she went quiet, listening to royalty talk about the guy whoâd been on his mind. âyouâre falling for him, thatâs major,â she nodded, a smile on her lips. âwhen you know you love someone, it doesnât matter if itâs new or not,â she said softly. âyou have that in-love glint in your eyes,â she added, âyouâre so cute, all in loveâah!â she let out an excited little scream, making celeste jump in his arms. âsorry, baby,â she whispered, kissing celesteâs head. âyouâre not going to scare him, youâre so sweet and gentle; even if heâs softer, heâs not going to run away,â she promised. âhe will run if you introduce him to nevaeh too soon though,â she joked, âso as long as youâre the one with him, i donât think you need to worry about scaring him off.â she smiled, holding back another excited squeak for her daughterâs sake. âiâm so happy for you.â
Royalty couldnât help but grin as Celesteâs laughter rang out, the sound making his chest feel light. He looked down at the little girl in his arms, her tiny hands reaching for his face with a curiosity that was almost too much to handle. âYou know sheâs dangerously cute, right?â he said, shaking his head in disbelief. âI think sheâs got me wrapped around her finger already, and sheâs not even trying.â He glanced back at Coral with a teasing smirk. âAnd donât worry, Iâll let go this time. But I can promise you, if you ever need some cosey time and need a baby sitter, Iâm not saying no. Weâll be out here with snacks, cartoons, and questionable dance moves. Sheâll come back spoiled but in one piece and maybe a little bit sassier then she left." Celeste giggled again, as if she understood, and Royalty softened, pressing his cheek gently against her soft hair. âSeriously, though⌠sheâs kind of magic. " He looked back at Coral, his voice dipping with genuine affection. âYou know, watching you with herâitâs like⌠youâve found your place. And it suits you so well.â Royalty shifted Celeste carefully in his arms, his thumb brushing over her tiny hand as she gripped his finger with surprising strength. He laughed softly under his breath, then glanced back at Coral, his expression turning a little sheepish. âYou know,â he started, almost like he couldnât hold it in anymore, âI just really like this guy. Like⌠a lot. Heâs hot, heâs nice, and honestly? Heâs kind of the opposite of me.â Royalty let out a low chuckle, shaking his head at himself. âI donât even know how to explain itâheâs calm where Iâm loud, thoughtful where I can be reckless. Itâs like he evens me out without even trying.â He bounced Celeste gently as she babbled at him, his smile growing soft again. âItâs weird, though. Iâve never wanted to actually build something with someone before. But with him? I do. I want to try, even if it scares me a little. I want him to know I'll be there for him - no matter what."
coral was in awe, watching her best friend play with her little one. it wasnât the first time, but it was always amusing to see the way the girl looked at him, how she reached up for his face in pure curiosity. in awe. âshe really is, i think itâs a genetic thing,â she said, tossing her head back. âshe looks at you in awe, itâs honestly so cute,â she nodded, a smile on her lips. âshe has that look that makes you want to stay there with her forever and never let go,â she added, nodding again. âi feel thatâll be a problem when she grows upâsheâll do whatever she wants, and i wonât be able to say no,â she admitted, knowing sheâd have to work on that. âcosey time? did you come up with a ship name for us?â she teased, smiling. âthatâs such a nice offer, but youâll have to fight grandma owens for that, isnât mamma right, cece?â she asked, poking her babyâs sides just to make her giggle. âsassier? even more? wow, then iâll have to handle her and her teasing father, god save me,â she joked. âbut count on it, i donât trust anyone more than i trust you with this,â she promised, smiling again. she looked at her baby, hearing royalty call her magic. âshe really is. how is it possible that i carried her for nine months, and now sheâs here andâŚâ she stoppedâthe thought alone made goosebumps rise all over her skin. âgoosebumps,â she chuckled. âi think i didnât know i wanted to be a mum before emily happened, and now i feel itâs the right thing. i love my life right now, caseyâgoing to work, but also having my little princess makes everything fit into place,â she smiled. âiâm so corny sometimes,â she laughed. coral tilted her head to the side as he called it weird, how this guy heâd met made him feel. âitâs not weird, itâs just that youâre discovering new things and youâre excited,â she nodded. âyou should definitely tell him that,â coral said with a smile. âiâm pretty sure thatâll make a softboy melt right in front of you.â
Caseyâs grin was slow, deliberate â the kind that tugged at his mouth like he already knew he had her right where he wanted. He stayed kneeling in front of her, broad shoulders easy but commanding, gaze locked on hers with that sharp mix of heat and affection that never failed to undo her. âYou call this working?â he teased, voice low and smooth, thumb brushing along the line of her thigh as though it was his right to touch her that way. âFeels a hell of a lot like you were trying to make me forget my own name.â At her joke about the surname, he chuckled â deep, warm, cocky without being careless. âOwens isnât exclusive, baby. Itâs solid. Strong. And it suits you already. Future Mrs Owens has quite the ring to it, no?" His tone shifted, softer for just a moment, honest in a way that slid under her skin. âYou and Celeste are my whole world. Sharing a name only makes sense. BesidesâŚâ His lips hovered over hers, refusing to close the distance just yet. ââŚI like the sound of you being mine in every way.â When she teased about leaving the proposal for another time, Casey smirked and tilted his head, his hand sliding higher as if to remind her of exactly where they were. âFair enough. No rings on the kitchen floor.â He dipped his head to her ear, voice a low rumble. âBut the âfuck you in every roomâ part? Thatâs not negotiable.â As she wrapped her leg around his waist, he moved smoothly, effortlessly taking control of the moment. His mouth trailed down her skin, confident, unhurried, like he owned every inch he touched. âYou drive me crazy,â he murmured against her, his hand sliding behind her neck to draw her closer. âI'm so fucking obsessed with you, baby." He paused, caught her gaze again, and gave her that wolfish smile that was all him â cocky, sure, but so full of love it was undeniable. âWithout saying a word? I didn't know you were that much of a freak." And with that, he kissed her â deep, certain, claiming â the kind of kiss that erased the kitchen floor and left only him. Casey pushed up from his knees with fluid strength, his hands finding her waist like it was second nature. Before Coral could register it, he had her lifted clean off the ground and swung effortlessly over his shoulder, his grip steady, possessive, and unshakably confident. He gave her a sharp smack on the curve of her bum, the sound echoing in the kitchen. âCome on, kinky,â he drawled, his voice low and amused, smooth as velvet but edged with command. His palm lingered at her hip, steadying her while he started toward the bedroom without breaking stride, like carrying her was no challenge at all. He glanced down at her legs draped against his chest, smirking to himself. âGuess Iâll just have to take you somewhere better suited for fireworks.â With another playful squeeze, he added, âHope youâve got the stamina. Iâm not stopping at just one room tonight.â
the way casey looked at her, the way his hands trailed up her thigh, everything was enough to have coralâs head spiraling. her heart beat fast; she wasnât nervousâthat wouldnât be herâshe was excited, and her heart was just reminding her how much she wanted him and how much she loved him. she didnât have to be nervous around casey. at his teasing words, the girl raised her eyebrows. âwasnât it getting you all worked up? i think i can consider it working,â she smirked, a playful glint in her eyes. âmaybe that was my job,â she winked at him. âdo you still remember your name?â coral asked in a whisper, letting those words drip from her lips like honey. âi can work with future mrs. owens for now,â she nodded. âitâs fair iâm not the only one sharing it,â she added, partly because she hated everything that came with her last name. as he leaned in so his lips hovered over hers, he had her melting right in that spot. âiâm yours in every single way, casey, i thought that was established,â she teased back. âoh, i wasnât going to let you fall asleep until the every room part of the deal was done,â she promised. but her concentration slipped as his lips started to trail down her skin, her eyes closing, her lips parting slightly as she just enjoyed the feeling of caseyâs mouth on her. âi love you,â she whispered back. when he paused, coral looked at him, that wolfish smile enough to make her feel all excited. âi didnât mean it in a freaky way, but if you want it freaky, iâm down,â she whispered, and as his lips crashed into hers she melted, her hands moving to cup his cheeks, wanting to feel him as close as possible, but he broke the kiss and a moan escaped her lips. âhey,â she started, but he swung her over his shoulder. âcasey!â she screamed as she felt his hand smack her bum. âi hope all the curtains are closed, casey!â she laughed as he carried her down the hallway. âoh, i was expecting fireworks, but donât worry, iâll last until every single room in this place has been used,â she promised, her hand lowering to be the one smacking caseyâs bum this time. âand now that iâm asking, first a last name, and not to mention anyone, but itâs kinky and i already have the titleâmake me a baby, casey owens.â
