Isaac narrowed his eyes and cursed. “Cheater.” He hissed even though she was already long gone and barely in sight. Isaac popped his neck before racing after her. If nothing else he could use her movements to track Parker’s. This was going to be a helluva night. But Isaac had no doubt that by the end of it he’d still be smiling. “You’re not going to win this.”

Still hearing his words as he was quickly catching up to her, Cora was able to get to a stairwell before him but her time was being used up as it was locked and she had to force it open with one of her knives. Turning to see the guy just in sight and in hearing distance, she let out a low laugh then pushed through the door and jumped the first flight. “Maybe I should help you knock down your ego a few pedestals?”

Straightening up, Cora pretended to look at her watch before darting behind her corner and down the hall on the balls of her feet. This was going to be fun. Not once had she found anyone who she didn’t want to get rid of instantly after trying to take her on. With him, he annoyed the hell out of her but he was still a worthy opponent.

“A goodbye.” He scoffed. “What you plan on killing me. Here? That’s insulting. Not even a race to see who can get a target first.”He looked her over. A waste of a potential partnership too. “Don’t insult me. A pistol isn’t personal enough for this. An amateur would already be dead.”

“Oh I think we both know who can get to the target first,” a small laugh escaped her lips, her smirk shifting into a smile. “Hmm... you know what? How about we have a little bet. First one to our Mr. Parker here gets to choose what happens to the other. And don’t worry, I’ll go easy.”

Isaac rolled his eyes. “And I thought we were past this point. Can’t you think of anything better than trying to be omnipotent? It’s getting old.” He crossed his arms and stared at her. “Is this supposed to be scary because it’s frighteningly boring.”
