eddie wasn't usually one to let things go to his head, to be someone who relied on having his ego bolstered - he knew who he was, knew who he wasn't. and even if there were people out there who liked to give him shit, call him a freak... that was fine, he'd learned long ago to just play along with it.
...but in an instance like this? king steve harrington, cornered in the bathroom of someone's house, at some shitty house party that eddie was only really in attendance of because he had some other fun things to supply... this was an instance where he certainly wasn't going to complain, where he certainly wasn't against letting it go straight to his head.
" yeah? " head tilted, brow quirked upwards as the beginnings of a playful smirk began to tug at lips, he's got both hands flat against the wall, boxing steve in. " that why you dragged me away from the crowd? king steve harrington, all the attention he could want... and it's a few looks from the freak that gets to him? "
he'd tried so hard to keep himself distracted for the duration of the party. friends to hang out with-- drink with, do shots with, dance and laugh with. but in the background of it all, of all the attention he was getting, there was the very real and desperate buzz. the longing that came every time he focused on the presence of eddie somewhere in the room. eyes would meet every so often. they'd play it cool. look elsewhere, but... more drinks. other substances. and those looks lingered longer. longer... till steve's skin felt alight beneath it. flushed. the need thrumming harder and it's why he ends up here. had pulled eddie along with him while eyes weren't focused, while nobody was looking at them.
breaths heavy now and his own hands come up. he likes it like this. eddie close, enclosed around him. all that... king steve shit, the confidence, the coy and cocky behaviour is pulled away. and all there is, is a needy look as he looks at eddie with wider eyes-- as hands find his hips and roughly squeeze, pull the other in close, hands slipping upwards to come to his neck eventually.
"you fucking knew what you were doing, eds--" sighs as he angles them more, tightening grip against eddie and lifting up-- faces inches apart, he can feel eddie's breath against him. "you know they don't mean shit to me, all i want is you." nose bumps against nose, shaky sigh coming as brows pinch together and voice comes out barely above a whisper then, "kiss me."

it wasn't the eye roll, or the burst of laughter that seemed to get to him a little bit, but more the comment about him having a ' deadbeat daddy ' now too. obviously, he knew he deserved it, he'd said as much, had told talia to enjoy it. he wasn't foolish enough to not understand and accept that, so there wasn't going to be any complaints, and certainly no intentional reactions, but still...
but at talia's question, a sigh passed lips, eyes wandering off down tot he end of the alleyway for a moment before he brought a hand up to rub at his chin, like that would remove any remnants of blood that might be there.
" no, it wasn't that. " a shake of his head as he looked back over to her. " it's complicated, actually. a long story, which... if you want to hear it, i'll tell you, yeah. but... i'd rather do all this somewhere else. not just stood at the end of some shitty alleyway - "
this was all getting a little... out of hand. but then again, she'd come here for answers, hadn't she? and did she really expect to get those in some back alley after a quick ten minute conversation? would that really have satisfied her? a small sigh to herself comes before talia moves, reaching into her bag and coming back with a small pack of wet wipes, tossed at daniel.
"alright, fine. clean up, jesus, worse than me when i got into that fuckin' spaghetti fight with lenora and--" another sigh as she moves, stretching out and pulling her phone out of her pocket. she could go and project her thoughts back home, but with daniel right there, he'd over hear and she wasn't exactly ready just yet to delve into her own shit.
quick text is sent off, a small smile to herself before she looks at daniel again a moment later. "come on, there's a bar not far for here where our lot are safe and catered to. we can talk."
there was a scoff when the comment about him being special came - one that radiated bitterness, one that certainly gave away more than he perhaps want to but... yeah, he thought he'd been special. he'd felt special. now though...? he wasn't' all that sure. and it all sort of felt like a bit of a punch to the gut when he let himself think about it.
not to mention the wave of confusion over him at talia knowing not only who armand was but... the fact that he'd never made a vampire before, the fact that currently he was off on his own...
" yeah, he's an asshole. " words came when he finally allowed gaze to shift back up to her, a shrug given that was intended to look casual. " and yeah - yeah i get it. poetic justice, taste of my own medicine, karma - whatever you wanna call it. enjoy it - you should. "
they can't help the way their eyes roll at the comment. took an asshole to know an asshole, right? it's so much easier to focus on that-- on the bad feelings that swirled around in their head, rather than let anything else at all slip into the foreground. he deserve it, didn't he? like he'd said, karmic balance and all that. in fact, talia even lets out a short, burst of bitter laughter.
"well shit, now you've got a deadbeat daddy too! awww." okay, maybe that's a bit... much. a bit of a step too far, but she can't help it. there's a little justice in it that even daniel had pointed out and they can't help but enjoy. but quickly, talia shakes their head and straightens up.
"so what was it? blow up his marriage and he got pissy about it or something? can't imagine mr withholding just gave it up for nothing. not with everything i've heard about him."
