“I haven’t called you anything, like ever!” Patsy was pretty sure she never had. She’d met Cornelia and they had joked, but not today. The truth of the situation sunk in kind of like that rock under her did and both were sharp pains in her side.
Patsy rolled onto her hands and knees then up to a stand.
“Shiiiiiitake mushroom. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. S’not like I knew. The school doesn’t come with a ‘who’s with who’ list for Jeeper’s sake.” She rubbed a hand to her rear hip and knew she would have a bright bruise tomorrow. The scared (she’d admit it) girl instinctively stepped back from the two, not wanting to be anywhere near between them. She took pride in not being a home wrecker at all and did not want to change that.
She held up her hand for Cornelia. “Seriously, I take it back. It was a luck of the draw thing not a thing-thing.”

“Calm. Down.” Steve said gently, retreating his hand as it was pushed away before looking up to Cornelia once more. “No-one is killing anyone. Hands, teeth or other body parts aside.” he noted with a small frown as he continued to switch his gaze between the two women.
Trouble just followed him. It always did. Apparently that was no different here, even in more trivial matters or so it seemed.
“What I said wasn’t a question. It was a command, Cornelia. Talk with me. You don’t need to go fighting or killing anyone.” he said firmly, taking a more serious stance as he moved to stand between them. “Beat on me all you want. “
“Luck of the draw? You think kissing my boyfriend is lucky?” The blonde seethed, advancing on the girl like a lioness stalking it’s prey. And to think she had actually liked Patsy. Practically swatting away the hand that the other girl raise din defense, Cornelia was about to pounce on her, but felt herself physically jerked back when Steve began to talk.
Did he just say command? Like, he could control her? Like, he was her superior? Oh no. That wasn’t going to fly- she was her own person. She belonged to nobody. She wasn’t property anymore. Before she could direct her anger anywhere, Steve stepped between the two girls and all she could feel was heartbreak?
Why was he defending her? Shouldn’t he be on her side? Isn’t that what couples do?
Feeling her lower lip quake, she lashed out, shoving the boy in front of her’s chest.
“Screw you, Steve. Screw both of you.” Before she could let herself cry, she turned away and busted her way through the crowd, making usre to blend in seamlessly.
