HGBF 1/144 Zaku Amazing and Amazing Booster
Straight built Iâve had more problems with this kit than any other. And, while it looks cool, itâs severely limited in its poseability. Soooo, I had to make some minor modifications.
Since itâs based on an older Zaku HG I had to make the usual center skirt armor cut, so the entire front skirt wouldnât rise when one leg is lifted. I removed the inside leg/foot stabilizer because it really gets in the way and always forces the model to be in an âAâ stance. Holding its weapons regularly over top the hand is difficult for this model kit; it has no double-jointed elbows and its rounded shoulder armor can hinder the traditional bazooka pose. Soooo, I decided to flip the weapons upside down to be held underneath, and to do that I had to cut off the triggers to the weapon handles. I also had the back leg thruster peg break on me and one of the missile/rocket packs connecting piece break. The leg thruster was an easy fix with superglue, but thereâs not much hope for the one missile/rocket pack, itâs just plopped straight on hoping it stays.Â
The amazing booster is a so-so accessory to purchase. It pretty much only looks cool when paired up flying around the Zaku Amazing. Yes, you can form it into a shield weapon thing and switch some parts around, but in my opinion they just donât look thatâŚamazing. I also added the main kitâs side pistol holsters to the booster because if the holsters are attached to the kitâs side skirt you canât really pose the arms because it forces them to be lifted far away from the body. Their placement on the skirt also hinders the typical way the Zaku would hold its weapons because they take up too much space, leaving almost none. Itâs called the Zaku Amazing, but the build is not so AmazingâŚ.
