For a moment, Rapunzel's mind conjured the image of the dark-haired woman she'd known as mother for eighteen years. But no, that wasn't who Cassandra meant.

She meant the queen, with eyes that mirrored Rapunzel's perfectly.

The woman who, from the moment she'd pulled Rapunzel into her arms, felt safe and right. She was Rapunzel's true mother.

"I wouldn't want to bother the queen with this." After everything Rapunzel had experienced with Gothel, she knew better than to bother her mother if Gothel had been too busy for Rapunzel. Surely, a queen must be even more so.

Rapunzel looked up at Cassandra, surprised when the other girl spoke in French.

"All I've ever had was books, three books to be exact. I learned everything I know from them."
