Emily Décès is based on Emily from Corpse Bride. They are a 29 year old/immortal undead being, bartender, and uses she/they pronouns. She has the power of reanimation. Emily is portrayed by Laura Harrier
growing up lonely was something that emily never really recovered from. she was grateful for all of the nice opportunities she was given, but at the same time those things did not fill the void of love. all she has ever craved was love. and when her parents didn’t give it to her, she sought it out in reckless ways.
in way, her lack of love is what led her to her worst mistake ever, which came in the human form of barkis. he was everything she desired from a man in the beginning. he was charming and dreamy and she fell so fast that she couldn’t even think straight. clearly she didn’t think straight since it led to her agreeing to marry him after a short time of dating.
her parents rejection of barkis was what led her further into his arms. she never cared if the person she loved had money or not. she didn’t care about anything more than their heart and the love they had to give. but when she ran off to meet barkis that fateful night, she learned he was like all the other men she had ever let into her life. he killed her. he left her for dead. and she honestly just....let it happen.
waking up in evermore was only a minor shock compared to finding out she was dead. suddenly every little thing, from breathing to feeling pain from an injury, was something she desired more than anything else in the world. she tried to take her second chance as a fresh start. she got a job, she had a home she never really occupied, and she tried her best to stay hidden in fear of what could happen if it were to ever come to light that she was dead. she didn’t trust anyone. until victor.
she met victor during her many walks into the forest. she gravitated towards it because of where she was murdered and he was...just beautiful. she had promised herself that she wouldn’t give her heart away to anyone again, especially since it no longer beat, and yet....she fell for victor just as hard as she did barkis. finding out he was betrothed was like a second stab to her. she swore she felt the pain of heartache in that moment. that is the only reasoning she has for lashing out the way she did, cursing him to an unfortunate fate, sealing her own with ursula. she feels so awful about what she did to victor but she just...can’t find it in herself to speak to him now.
now that she was betrayed twice by men she thought she could trust, she has completely shut them out now. she cannot afford to lose everything she has now built in evermore because she allowed herself to get carried away with romance.
she has several butterfly tattoos scattered along her body. most of them she got before she died, but once she found she could still get them...she kept going. she always felt tied to them and whenever something important or memorable happens, she remembers it with another butterfly.
as much as she hated the way she was raised, she still does appreciate the arts. they are her escape when the world is too much for her. she has always gravitated towards piano the most, but the violin is easily her second best comfort.
she has really come to find her voice. she speaks up when she is uncomfortable and she holds her ground when she needs to. she is far from the emily that fell for the charms of barkis.
she spends a lot of her time wandering evermore. normally in the shadows where no one can spot her and speak to her, but every now and then she tries to come into the light. she orders food even though she doesn’t eat and she tries to convince herself she is human when she no longer is. she hasn’t fully accepted her death yet, and she isn’t sure if she ever will.
