Mastery Journal: Effective Branding

Nike is effective because they have a fantastic marketing strategy, sponsoring athletes. Their name means victory, so having athletes at the top of their profession wear their products is a genius way to boost sales and to familiarize people with their logo. What some call a check is really a wing, symbolizing that those who wear it will rise above the rest and be victorious.

Target is known for its logo. The vibrant red and white bull’s-eye immediately draws the eye. Being a store similar to Kmart and Wal-Mart, Target’s logo stands out above the rest. No words are needed when you see their logo, you know exactly what store it is and what to expect. Like NIKE, the symbol is more recognizable than the name itself.

Lego has been around for decades. What makes Lego stand out more than other similar toys is that they can assimilate to other brands. Lego adapts its products to other franchises such as movies, TV shows, and global competitions. These marketing tactics make it more accessible worldwide.

Summary

Kristen The Conqueror is an animated comedy about Kristin, a bored high school student who after finding her father’s pog collection wants to enter and win the national pog championships. But when her teammate kicks her best friend off the team, she has to win back the trust of her best friend and win the local competition. Which seems impossible because in order to do that, she has to defeat her best friend at the local championships.
