so. long story short; I’m pretty stressed about Life Stuff at the moment and that’s got me backed up art-wise like a terrier that’s eaten a pound of cheese. so instead I just hyper-focus on dumb projects, which in this case, is my own personal size charts.
it started because I felt it of dire importance to figure out exactly how large skydancers are (which is: not at all), and to get as accurate of a measurement as possible. a lot of these look traced, because they basically are! I took the official art and chopped up the linework as needed to get the dragons’ spines as straight as possible. I pulled a lot of measurements from this handy spreadsheet. the human silhouette is 6’ tall (1.83m).
SO. sizes and commentary. the sizes I’ve chosen are not meant to be 100% definitive, and I’m only counting length here, not wingspan or weight.
SKYDANCERS: average size estimated 4.3m, largest is 5.66m. because of the bug with SD sizes, I decided to ignore the smallest sizes and just pick the largest & a rough estimate of their intended average length. I continue to have a sense of wonder at how tiny and adorable SDs are, even at their correct size; they’re like bird-deer.
MIRRORS: smallest is 2.81m, average is 5.7m and largest is 7.84m. also mirrors have longass tails, I now imagine they use them as whips like monitor lizards.
SNAPPERS: smallest is 3.13m 2.75m, average is 5m, and largest is 7.08m. I always pictured snappers as a bit larger overall, but I suppose their bulk makes up for it!
RIDGEBACKS: smallest is 9.04m, average is 18m, and largest is 24.95m (!!). wow ridgies can get HUGE.
IMPERIALS: smallest is 11.9m 11.73m, average is 21m and largest is 31.72m. for the longest time I thought imps were actually a bit smaller than guardians/ridgebacks, yeesh.
EDIT 11/27: adjusted smallest sizes of snapper & imperials, added signatures like I should have done in the first place
