Those black and white pieces with the hands, especially the one with the electric wires in background have such delicate feel to them, I’m really enamored by them. Any chance they be turned into prints?
I managed to get a good quality scan of them, so I can totally put them up as prints assuming my printer handles them okay once the show featuring the originals is mostly over! I'd check back in at the end of the month

with tariff stuff i've been a bit hesitant to restock/make new enamel pins unfortunately, but i have been thinking about revisiting old pins (including ignition specifically). will try to keep folks posted 👌

hiii, i just saw your post on the hades ii assets you made!! i love your work, and im a huge fan of the game, and an artist who’s just starting out professionally, and i wanted to ask - is there anything in particular you did to get the job? what did you include in your portfolio, and what was the application process like?
my dream is to work for supergiant on a hades related project, so any insights you have would be great!! thank you soso much!
so gonna asterisk before i go into this too much that i had a fairly nontraditional path to where i am today, and will not be the easiest to replicate 1:1 since i think i got very lucky and a lot of things occurred that pushed me into the path i'm following now. that said, i think without my past experiences i wouldn't have been able to put myself in the position to go for this opportunity, so don't take this as discouragement. tl;dr; do what you can to put yourself in the right place, at the right time. every experience you have is a future resource, trust and grow with your peers and hopefully you can take each other forward.
ramblings below:
a bit of background - i did a lot of non-game UI/UX work (stuff like streaming and social media apps) before my first formal game job, but kept up with my own illustration and game development goals on the side (i.e. personal drawings, my shop, game jams, etc). in 2019 i was very unhappy with my role at the time, and was approached by a friend to try and apply to my first gaming job at the mobile game company, Dots. it was a hard pivot for me, as even my design work was all experience based and i didn't have a degree in design/games/art, but i leveraged my skill flexibility and variety during my interview. the Dots team, thankfully, consisted of many people with diverse backgrounds independent of games, and valued my abilities despite not having a formal background in games. I'm grateful that they decided to take a chance on me.
it was with Dots I accumulated skills such as large quantity rapid icon production (had to make 100+ icons and a few pitch docs within a few weeks, coordinating with a contracted external studio), as well as what worked and didn't work with game interface game feel (it was very jarring going from minimalistic utilitarian app designs to game interface design which allowed for much more flourish). i also had the opportunity to work closely with engineering, product, art direction, etc. at a much more aggressive and coordinated capacity than i had to at any previous experience with non-game companies. games really do take a lot to make!
the opportunity to apply to Supergiant arose when Dots was hit unfortunately with a closure notice after its acquisition by Take Two, so at that point i treated it like a hail-mary situation where i needed to find something soon while i still had severance. the fact it was contract scared me a little, but with the job listing's opportune timing, it was a risk i might as well take
the original listing for the job was interesting, requesting that my resume be presented as an email instead of an attachment. because of the format, i made sure that my experiences were broken up cleanly in the initial interest email i sent them, and tried to remain concise for some questions asking about my artistic inspirations and how i felt about game interfaces. my portfolio then was similar to how i have it now, a balance between my illustration work and my design work, as well as my familiarity with the Whole Creative Process, taking things all the way from low-fidelity mocks to hi-fidelity implementation ready files. the page for my Dots experience in particular i tried to polish particularly well, attempting to sell myself with all the varied work I did for that role as a multidisciplined and adaptable individual. i secured a followup some time later, asking for a call, some paperwork, and an art test.
the art test consisted three prompts asking for some fake screen mockups and icon tests based on imaginary "problems" i had to solve. with a combination of Sketch and Photoshop, i tried my best to address these problems, presenting the final mocks and documenting my evaluation of what needed to be done/my thinking/etc in a slide deck to send back to Supergiant. the team was impressed by the detail that I included in my work (a lot of "what-if" A/B testing proposals, style tests, that sort of thing lol), and were particularly pleased to learn that I had experience with engineering even with my stronger focus on visuals. this would be a very relevant skill later, as i implemented many of my own assets into Hades II by navigating the code and files of their unique engine. semi jokingly, i also emphasized during our interview that i was indeed the crazy person willing to take on the work of creating hundreds of icons in a short timespan, and i had the experience to prove it

i'm sure my existing love for Supergiant's games helped with this process, but honestly if it weren't for my time with Dots (and even Amino prior to that, despite hating the experience, as parts of that job helped me secure the Dots role), i don't think i would have been able to prove i had the chops to take on Supergiant's needs. it's definitely hard starting off professionally, but do your best to find roles and experiences that will springboard you towards your ultimate goal. broaden your horizons, strengthen your existing skills alongside learning new ones, and hopefully your opportunities will snowball from there.
