Issue #12 panel redraw :) Their relationship is so special to me

We open with Lois in some kind of portable room, interviewing people all over the world to get more information about Kal-El. It seems some of them were genuinely friends with him who he allowed himself to get close to, like the woman from Dharavi. This is something I’d love to see explored in further issues if we get any more flashbacks. He had dinner with this woman’s family— implying that he used to eat? How long did he work in that factory? How long does he stay in one place to work, on average? What does he do with the money he makes— does he send it back to the Kents or to other families he’s met during his travels. I just think it’s so beautiful that he’s made friends all over the world, and they’re willing to protect him despite how he never lets anyone get close to him. At least not anymore.

Then a strange image pops into his mind without him asking it to. He sees his mother, clothed in a soft and starry suit, holding her arms out towards him. His heart swells, and he cries out and runs to meet her, burying his face into her chest. He clings to her, and she holds him tight as he shakes and sobs. She strokes his hair and shushes him. Shh, Kal, I'm right here. I've always been here.

Us no longer alone.

Parasite can sense when Kal is upset or grieving or scared, and it shuffles up to him and puts its head on his forehead. It soaks in his pain and grief and memories, and it knows Kal used to feel so safe inside Sol, and it grows bigger and bigger, enveloping him and holding him close in its warmth ;_;

Warm Again, Close To Me by corvuss

Sometimes when he closes his eyes, he pretends he's laying on a rock, soaking in Rao's rays and recovering from a fever. Pretends his dad is sitting beside him, eating a sandwich between stories from the mines. He's sick and soon he'll be better, and the sun will help. The sun will help and then he can run again.

Absolute Superman, ~2200 words, Major Character Death. Kal's last day after being imprisoned for a while.

I spent all of Superman Day going to a zine fest and then getting inspired and making a little Superman book :) I've only filled up maybe 1/3 of the pages so far, but I'm having such a blast with it and I got really emotional doing the black-out poetry bit (from an article about children who survived Hurricane Helene and the California widlfires) ;_;
