Considering that the production of Final Shape has been underway for at least two years, and that the mo-cap artists need character dialogue to perform with, my guess is that they already have Lance’s FS lines long-since recorded, and have the family’s permission to continue working with it as planned.

Assuming we’re not supposed to lose him during FS, my hope then is that Zavala gets to finally retire like he’s talked about after the dust has settled — we’ve had enough characters taken in the usual manner, so it would be nice to see one depart in a happier way. 💙😞
