Lea smiled lightly and touched Cory’s arm as Edith began to get excited. “Not very long ago…” she said, looking in Cory’s eyes. She looked back at her mom, “You both know how we feel about each other. We want to be together and we can’t see it any other way.” Lea closed her menu and rubbed Cory’s arm soothingly. Marc had a strange look on his face as an awkward silence took place at the table. “What if you two don’t work out? There are some odds stacked against you. Don’t get me wrong, Lea, I want you to be happy and I think that you and Cory are perfect for each other, but let’s just say something happens? You guys break up? Have another pregnancy scare?” Marc said, looking Lea directly in the eye.
"Dad, what are you getting at?" Lea asked, starting to get upset. Her parents had always been 100% behind her. Lea wondered if her dad was still fretting over the pregnancy scare. Lea’s father sighed before looking down at the table. "I’m just worried about you, Lea." he said. Lea looked over at Cory, "Dad, we’re fine. If this is about the pregnancy scare, or Cory going to rehab, you have nothing to worry about. We’re happy. Beyond happy.” she said, smiling lightly. Marc nodded and smiled too, instantly making Lea feel better.
A soft smile stretched Cory's lips as Lea looked up into his eyes before turning her gaze back to her mother. His lips pressed against her temple again as she told her parents that neither of them could imagine being with another person. It was true. Lea was everything he wanted in someone to spend his life with and he hoped he was the same for her. His grip tightened on her shoulder as an awkward silence came over the table at the look on Marc's face. Had his words at their lunch not been enough? He wasn't going to leave Lea out of the blue--he wasn't going to leave her at all. His girlfriend was his everything. When Lea mentioned rehab, Cory bit his lip and leaned forward, waiting until she was finished speaking. "I want to be truthful with the both of you. I know we've skirted around the topic of me going back to rehab a few months ago but you truly do have nothing at all to worry about. Being shown that I was falling back into old habits was terrifying, I've always sworn to myself that I would never do those things again."
Cory sighed and looked at Lea, smiling gently as he squeezed her shoulder before turning his gaze back to Marc and Edith. "But the thing that scared me more? Was what me doing these things would mean for Lea. Realizing that I could hurt her or myself irreparably....it chilled me to the core. I went to rehab for her, our relationship was the driving force behind why I went right away instead of finishing out the season. And as fr another pregnancy scare...I hope that next time it's after we're married and more importantly it's planned. But life doesn't work that way...and if it happens again but it's real I'll be the same place I was this time. Right beside Lea supporting her in whatever choices she makes."

Lea smiled as they sat down, loving the feeling of Cory’s arm around her. “You see this old one all the time!” Lea replied to her mom, giggling and hitting Cory playfully. Lea hoped that her dad wasn’t uncomfortable with Cory now, considering the pregnancy scare. Lea grinned at her mom, adjusting herself in her seat and taking her gaze off of her menu. “LA is pretty good. I’m really really busy right now. Ryan is being a jack-ass so I am having to do a lot of work with the album and the book on the weekends.” She sighed, looking over at Cory. “Thank God for Cory, though. He is good at keeping me in check so I don’t go off on Ryan and lose my job.”
"What about the rest of the cast?" Marc asked, seeming weird to Lea. "Is he that brutal to them?" Lea shifted in her seat again, "No.." she said softly. "Should we talk to him about it?" her dad added. "Absolutely not. I can fight my own battles. He’s just mad because of Cory and the show." She sighed. "Listen, I want to just get through the rest of the series and then I’m moving back to New York. With Cory.” she added before looking back down at her menu.
"Calling me old, again?" he teased, rubbing his arm in fake hurt where Lea had playfully hit him. "I see how it is, Michele." He scanned the menu as he listened to the conversation between Lea and her mother. Cory had told hold back a noise of disdain as she mentioned Ryan being a jackass, remembering how the man had basically told her to choose between him and the show before her trip to see him. "I know what the show means to you, what being there for the fans right now means to you. I'm not going to let you do something to ruin that out of annoyance." Cory was grateful that Marc wanted to help Lea but there was nothing to be done. He'd wanted to do something from the moment he'd realized why Ryan was treating her the way he was but knew she'd never let him.
"Trust me, if there was any way to stop Ryan from treating her like this I've had already done it. I hate that he's taking out how he feels about me on Lea. I pulled my People interview about why I left the show just to keep him from being worse." Cory explained, grinning as Lea informed her parents that they would be moving to New York together once the show was over. "When was this decided?" Edith asked excitedly, looking between them once more. "Neither of you have mentioned this plan before."

Lea smiled as Cory kissed her head. She felt safe when she was with him, always. Going to lunch with her parents was definitely something that Lea had looked forward to upon planning her trip; especially since it was the first time they’d seen each other in a while. Lea was also nervous about the pregnancy scare coming up in conversation but she figured that if it did come up, she would try and change the subject. It was behind her now. She and Cory both knew now that they had to be careful. “I love you too, Cor.” Lea responded with a grin. She looked down at her ring that he was playing with, smiling brightly.
"I hope not either." she sighed. "But it’s my parents and their baby almost had a baby, so they will probably bring it up unfortunately." she said as the cab pulled to a stop. "It’s now or never, babe." she said as they slid out of the seat and Cory paid the driver. They walked into the restaurant that Lea’s parents had chosen for them to eat at, expecting them to already be there. Lea instantly spotted her mom and her and Cory walked hand in hand to their table. "Hey guys!" Lea said excitedly, hugging her parents as they got up.and hugged her back. "I’ve missed you guys so much!" she said as they all sat down.
Cory pretended to huff as Lea said it was now or never before she slipped out of the cab. He handed over a few bills to the driver, sliding out of the cab behind his girlfriend. His hand slipped into hers as they stepped into the restaurant, heading straight back to the table that her parents were sitting at. His hand slipped from hers as she excitedly greeted her parents, hugging them tightly. He knew it had been a long while since his girlfriend had seen them and he was happy that she got the chance while she was visiting. He gave her mother a quick hug and shook her father's hand before sitting beside her at the table, arm draped casually over her shoulders. It had been a long couple of weeks since the last time he'd been able to hold Lea and he wasn't about to stop until he had to.
"We're so happy to see the both of you!" Edith said, looking between the couple. "I mean we see you fairly regularly, Cory but it's been ages since we've seen the both of you at the same time." Cory breathed a silent sigh of relief when he saw Marc nod in agreement. He hadn't seen the older man, who he very much considered a father figure, since their lunch the prior week when he'd defended his feelings for Lea to him. "Tell me all about how everything is in LA." Lea's mother added, hands playing with the menu.

Cory kissed Lea's temple in the back of the cab they were sitting in on their way to her parents place for lunch. He couldn't help but wonder why Marc and Edith were so eager to have them over for lunch. A large part of him thought it might have something to do with Lea's recent pregnancy scare and the subsequent lunch he'd had with Marc. He'd proven more than ever that he was firmly committed to his relationship with Lea. He was in love with the woman, and they had their future plans in the works. They already lived together and marriage and children were definitely in their future cards. The couple had talked extensively about it after his return to New York and lunch with her father, and were even making plans as to where they were going to live once her time on the show was over.
"I love you." he whispered to his girlfriend, playing with the ring on her finger. It was the one he'd given her just a couple months earlier right here in New York. A promise ring, something that she could look down at and know that even though they had decided it was too early for marriage and children--only because of the show--that he was devoted to her and that future. "I really hope lunch isn't all awkward because of the scare." Cory added softly, rubbing his hand on her arm.

Your apartment looks spotless, babe. Did you clean it all up for me or is it always this nice? I know, but I’ll probably be sleeping anyways.
