Okay so I’m tagging @sabezra-life-day-celebration because it gave me the idea for this, even though this has literally next to nothing to do with Sabezra. Sorry… but thanks for the inspo, sweet people!! (I guess imagine Sabine and Ezra listening to it and face palming?)

Does she know?! What does she know?! How much does Ezra mean to Sabine?! What did they talk about while Huyang was playing Rock Em Sock Em outside?!

Why did we get all of these hints about a well-established Ezra Problem between Ahsoka and Sabine AND all of the nudge, nudge, 😜 like she’s basically Anakin Aboard the Temptation 2.0. if Ahsoka isn’t shipping it or at least aware of some possible feelings?!

First of all, UGH. ❤️

But also-- THIS, coupled with all the ~she knows~ moments above.

She's saying "I know why, and I get it." And she's not saying Sabine did the Right Thing(TM) in the utilitarian sense, but she is acknowledging the validity of Sabine's motivations and feelings.

And MAN how things might have been different if Anakin had someone who could say this to him. Because Obi-Wan loved him, no doubt, but he pretty much handled Anakin's feelings by either turning an amused blind eye or giving a lecture.

How much better would be ALL be if our parents/guardians/mentors/teachers were able to approach our choices and feelings with such compassion?

So so so excited to (hopefully) see Ahsoka and Sabine grow even more-- and for Sabine learn to trust that she can be honest with herself and others.

Ahsoka’s last question to Sabine before her Fall was this:

“Can I count on you?”

versus

Ezra’s first statement to Sabine after being separated for a decade:

“I knew I could count on you.”

Me:

You guys see what I’m getting at, right? Another big damn mythic Star Wars circle of love and misery!

You’ve got Ahsoka, her mentor, unsure of placing her trust in Sabine to do the right thing.

And then Sabine does what she does to save Ezra. With Ahsoka’s question lingering in her mind the whole time.

And then Ezra reappears. And he says exactly what she needed to hear. That someone who trusted her had that faith rewarded; that she didn’t let them down.

Filoni, I am in your walls. I see what you’re doing.

Even unknowing of what she’s done, it’s Ezra consistently placing unconditional trust and appreciation for Sabine juxtaposed against everyone else leveraging her to get something.

Ezra. Always having faith in her, when she doesn’t feel it for herself. When no one else does.

Is it any wonder that she fell so hard for him?

Yes love this so much.❤️ I also just ADORE that "I know I can count on you" is like... their thing.

Because what are the best relationships if not two people who know they can count on one another?

And it's going to be so painful when Ezra finds out about her deal with Baylan, but you know what? I think it's really going to serve as the narrative device of being a test of their bond. (Which is also why I think he doesn't find out! It's being saved for the 11th hour "reveal.")

Because we disappoint our partners in life, it just happens. This was on a galactic scale but it's mythology, so of course it had to be.

But I think he's ultimately going to respond along the lines of "yeah that was a choice, but I know your heart, and I know I can still count on you." And that will mean the world to her.
