Last night we camped right at treeline between Durango and Ouray several miles up a forest road. We made popcorn on our camp stove and had a movie night with this as our backdrop. Car life is not bad, guys.
Losing weight is not the key to happiness. Losing weight is not the key to happiness. Losing weight is not the key to happiness.
Take it all back. Life is boring, except for flowers, sunshine, your perfect legs. A glass of cold water when you are really thirsty. The way bodies fit together. Fresh and young and sweet. Coffee in the morning. These are just moments. I struggle with the in-betweens. I just want to never stop loving like there is nothing else to do, because what else is there to do?
Pablo Neruda (via cosmic-sonder)
If the moon smiled, she would resemble you. You leave the same impression Of something beautiful, but annihilating.
Sylvia Plath, Ariel
There is something demoralizing about watching two people get more and more crazy about each other, especially when you are the only extra person in the room. It's like watching Paris from an express caboose heading in the opposite direction--every second the city gets smaller and smaller, only you feel it's really you getting smaller and smaller and lonelier and lonelier, rushing away from all those lights and excitement at about a million miles an hour.
Sylvia Plath
There's no way to know what makes one thing happen and not another. What leads to what. What destroys what. What causes what to flourish or die or take another course.
Cheryl Strayed
It's dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you're feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. I was so preposterously serious in those days...Lightly, lightly - it's he best advice ever given me. So throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That's why you must walk so lightly. Lightly, my darling.
Aldous Huxley
Wherever you are, it’s okay. You can come back from it. Whatever happened to you down there, whatever the world looks like now, that’s not how it always looks. That’s not how it’s always going to look. There’s more. There’s always more.
Patrick Ness
Time was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on. I hope you never have to think about anything as much as I think about you.
Jonathan Safran Foer
"And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so?" "I did." "And what did you want?" "To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the Earth."
Raymond Carver, Late Fragment
Okay, we didn’t work, and all memories, to tell you the truth, aren’t good. But sometimes there were good times. Love was good. I loved your crooked sleep beside me and never dreamed afraid. There should be stars for great wars like ours.
Sandra Cisneros, One Last Poem For Richard
Your absence has gone through me like thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its color.
W.S. Merwin
Anyone who has lost something they thought was theirs forever finally comes to realise that nothing really belongs to them.
Paulo Coelho
"You'll get over it..." It's the cliches that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life forever. You don't get over it because "it" is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve over is not made anodyne by death. This hold in my heart is in the shape of you and no one else can fit it. Why would I want them to?
Jeanette Winterson, Written on the Body
Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.
Edna St. Vincent Millay
Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they would be here forever? If so, then you know you can go your whole life collecting days, and none will outweigh the one you wish you had back.
Mitch Albom, For One More Day
