Under the cover of Nothing, he slipped up the umbilical arm of the building, tiptoeing like a giraffe on the flaming savannah. Cheryl could hear his whispers, over and over again, saying "sleep you mother fucker."

He couldn't sleep.

The lampposts inside were too insidious, mocking the others.

The arm flexed and he froze, clinging to his own breath like a torrential downpour of forever.

Nothing caught him but could not hold on. Umbilicals were slippery this time of night.

Wallowing in antiperspirant, he slid up and back into the lighted Something of the building.

Something would happen. Nothing couldn't get a ride home this night.

He was coughing now. Wheezes umbrellad from the sides of his spleen. Not good.

"Sleep mother fucker. Sleep"

Cheryl is going out for dinner

But sleep was waking up like snow on a birds broken wing.

And he was sure he would know Something soon, regardless of how Nothing struggled within.

"How to Make Good Horror Content"

Sometimes I see, in a lot of horror media articles on how to make good content, the first step is always "Make your main character relatable".

It's funny because I see that and I'm like "Nah, fuck you." Although, of course, my main character of my horror series may be more relatable to Nonhumans or those who are Voidpunk.

The main character having extensive trauma and having to accept that they will never be fully human because of how their mind was fucked to pieces by their trauma. Dehumanized by those who should have been figures of trust.

"I'm the only one who knows the real truth and how the universe actually works" is such a standard type of guy by now that it's actually become very annoying. This type of guy doesn't even realize he sounds like an NPC himself because he decided on a frame of reality that satisfies the egoic impulse to be an extra special person with true insider information. The need for special info that puts one in a class of elite insiders is itself a form of addiction born of primitive and fearful instincts; the idea that the nature of this world is both very complex and an open question terrifies you, and so you engage in primitive accumulation of information, much of which may have zero actual grounding and merely satisfy your urge for pattern-matching.

One day, you are born. Someday, you will die. We don't really know what living is. We don't really know what dying is.

You don't know shit about anything. NPCs aren't real either and deciding on a framework of reality that robs others of their humanity actually makes you the worst type of person and fully lost in your own hypocrisy. You yourself demonstrate a lack of agentic qualities when you fail to remain curious and inquisitive about the conscious experience of the other beings you share your existence with. Drawing conclusions may present you with temporary utility that helps you navigate the current frame of your reality, but it also closes you off to the dynamic, ever-fluctuating and constantly evolving currents of experience. Take the gray pill and revel in the ambiguity that is the great Mystery* of our realm of shared being.
