“I sort of came to understand that this world wasn’t all that bad like you said.”
Aoba & Noiz requested by makotooss
// Take a long hard look at this booty because you might not be seeing it again for quite some time ~
You may not know me personally or you might have. Either way, I’m sure we’ve seen each other. A quick glance, a little wave, maybe even a clumsy bump. Maybe we’re friends, maybe we’re enemies. Maybe we’re something in between. But that’s not too important. For a moment, we lived in the same place and that is what matters.
Neighbor, you live in a wonderful city.
It’s beautiful, maddening, frustrating, and breath-taking all at once. The streets can be loud and colorful or silent and gray.
Neighbor, this city is full of adventure.
Good or bad, happy or sad - you never know what’s coming next.
People always talk about the ‘red string of fate’, how it will lead you to the one you love. But you shouldn’t forget that there’s all sorts of love out there. Reconnecting with family, finding new friends, discovering something new about yourself - these are all expressions of love.
I was lucky enough to find the person at the end of my string. What we share may look like the typical romantic love at first but... I believe it’s something much deeper than that. I used to think I would spend my entire life alone but he changed that. He made me want for something more. He gave me hope. I won’t bore you with any more details but that is just one proof of how this city can change you. There are a lot more if you open your eyes, your mind, your heart.
Neighbor, this city is as you make it.
Your true fate is determined by the choices you make everyday. It’s up to you if you wish to believe in the red string but one thing is for sure - this city is something special. And so are you.
I wish you all the best.
- Aoba Seragaki
p.s. The DDR machine in The Great isn’t broken. It just needs a little kick on the side but don’t let the boss man catch you in the act. Otherwise, he’ll call you a ‘trouble-making twerp’ and kick you out.
p.s.s. If the boss man does catch you, say that Aoba told you to kick it. I reckon he won’t be able to find me in the Caribbean.
p.s.s.s. .... Don’t tell him I’ll be in the Caribbean.

As we walked by crowds of people while the festival music played, I called out to Noiz, who was looking into a stall.
"Is this the first time you’ve been to this festival?"
"Yeah."

HIS OFFER IS MET with a positive response; how typical of Aoba being able to resuscitating her dampened spirits. Anyone with a good working pair of eyes could’ve sensed the uneasy aura that came from her. Even those outside of her social circle were well aware of how lively and animated her behavior usually was.
She’s very receptive to his proposal of going out to eat– she had been so engrossed in her own studies, she failed keep a eye on her physical health. The sadness that was dwelling within her had dissipated into nothingness, and she’s overcome with relief that Aoba is welcoming her back with open arms. “I’d love to, Aoba-san, I have so much to tell you, you wouldn’t believe…!”
[8:00 PM]
Aoba checks his Coil for the time. He wanted to bring Ren along for additional moral support but the Allmate was in Noiz’ care for the night. Something about ‘monthly maintenance’...although Aoba won’t be surprised to find out that the brat had accessed his recordings and whatnot. It wasn’t as bothersome as it was embarrassing, the two often finding themselves arguing over matters of privacy even after getting married. Guess you can turn an info maniac into your husband but there’s no permanently changing the info maniac inside.
The blue-haired teen glances around, noticing the finely-dressed young lady right away.
“Eru! Over here!”
Truth be told, he wasn’t one to frequent ‘high end’ dining places but the ambiance seemed right for a quiet, private talk between friends.
Plus he had an intense craving for sushi that week. Two birds, one stone.

Such comforting words managed to pick apart the brave front that Eru strove to keep intact, her feigned smile faltering into a thin line and gaze suddenly at level with the ground following his encouragement to open up and dispel the negative energy that was weighing heavily on her weakened shoulders. It would’ve been quite the relief to quell the demons that were haunting her mind, taunting her relentlessly and goading her over her failure. She wavered a bit, teetering back and forth from her heel to her toes, a guilty expression overcoming pallid features as she reflected upon how selfish her actions turned out to be. Her support system had been here all along, and by fleeing her safe haven, she subjected herself to being besieged by her inner demons. Isolation did little to mitigate the pain of solitude, something she forced herself into in hopes of recovering from her own heartbreak.
“I’d been hoping my letter would assuage your worries, but it appears to have done the opposite…” Eru swallowed thickly, fiddling nervously with the frills embroidered in her sleeves. “I’m so sorry I worried you, Aoba-san. I’m really sorry.” Her voice is quivering now, bottom lip trembling as though she were on the verge of tears. “I missed Aoba-san and everyone so, so much.”
“We missed you too.”
Aoba gives Eru a warm smile, hoping that simple act could melt the defenses she’d built around herself. The Eru he knew before did not need to hide behind walls but perhaps this was also Aoba’s fault. Despite their friendship, he knew so little about her and that small space grew into a chasm that eventually widened into an actual physical distance when Eru left Brieve. A wise man once said that you only missed something once it’s gone. Aoba wasn’t going to wait for his friend to disappear once more just so he can remember her and the good times they shared.
“...How about this - you fill me in on everything that’s happened to you while you were away and I’ll do the same. Deep Grill Sushi later at 8pm. Sounds good to you?”

“A-Aoba-san, I have a perfectly feasible explanation for my sudden departure!” Well, in her eyes, it was reasonable, but the decision had been made on the spur of the moment, so she didn’t really have a lot of time to think about whether she was acting on impulse or how it would affect her friends. Eru reciprocated the hug despite his tight grip, nestling her face into the male’s chest in an attempt to mask her face. She foolishly abandoned the city she loved over a minor thing, something that she could’ve easily gotten over in due time. But now she had to fess up and not shirk responsibility for worrying everyone.
“I needed to take a break,” she professed in a feeble voice, laughing nervously. “I needed some time to be alone, get my thoughts together, you know…? But I suppose a warning would’ve been appreciated…” That’s quite the understatement.
“A break...?”
Like hell Aoba was going to believe such an excuse.
He fumes, muttering something about how he’d break something if that was what Eru needed but he reels himself back in, attempts to appear calm and composed. It wouldn’t be good to scare her off on the first day of their reunion (although the way he kept that vice grip around her seemed to show otherwise).
“I received your letter but... it only made me worry even more.”
Amber meets lavender as a small frown tugs at Aoba’s lips.
“You know I’m always here for you, right? You can tell me anything and I’ll try my best to help you out.”
[[ Shall We Dance ]] - Event Closed for Aoba
trashbagbunny:
If Noiz heard the sound that left Aoba’s lips, he pretended he didn’t. Any other time he would have made a quip, gone of out his way to see how flustered he could make the older teen as he embarrassed him further but not tonight, right then under the glowing lanterns that hung from the tent’s around their reception he didn’t want to make Aoba fluster and blush… He just wanted to have that moment be perfect.
Leaning his forehead down to rest it against Aoba’s when their eyes finally met, he didn’t want the other to look away. Despite how often he got to look into the eyes of his now husband it was a view he never tired of. Chuckling at the sudden stuttered apology he oculd only assume Aoba had stepped on his toes. With a small quirk of his lips he grinned, giving Aoba’s hand a gentle squeeze, doing his best not to hurt him in the process.
“Don’t worry Liebchen, didn’t feel a thing” He grinned, for once finding humour in his despised condition as he continued to lead the man across the dance floor.
“You’re doing fine…”
Aoba huffs, his cheeks turning a darker shade of red.
“Maybe I should step harder if that’s what you want,” he murmurs, trying to dispel the butterflies multiplying in his stomach. The sassy reply falls flat, however, when Aoba sees Noiz’ smile and hears his assurance.
“You’re doing fine.”
[...Dammit. Who gave you the right to be so charming?]
The blue-haired teen tries his best to stay calm. It was just a simple dance. Just one simple dance. For them. As an officially married couple.
Aoba lets out another squeak as he accidentally steps on Noiz’ foot again.
“Sorry! Ah, maybe we should just stop. I mean, I’m not the best dancer and everyone’s watching and I can’t- - “

A meek smile surfaced on Eru’s lips at his remembrance, a slight but noticeable warmth rising to her chest at the sound of familiarity that touched the male’s voice when he said her name. She hadn’t been forgotten, and there wasn’t a hint of malice directed towards her abrupt departure from Brieve. Relief waved through her as she took a few steps towards him, posture relaxed and tension gone from her face. “Seragaki-sa–… Aoba-san!” It was a start.
“I’m so happy… to see Aoba-san! Aoba-san looks so happy and healthy! I’m so glad! I’m so glad you’re here…!”
“Eru!”
It felt like something broke free from Aoba’s chest, a certain stiffness easing from his shoulders upon seeing the young lady. She looked rather well although something seemed to be hiding beneath her happy smile and gently sparkling eyes. Closing the distance between them, Aoba pulls Eru into a tight hug... before glaring and keeping her locked in his arms like some semi-pro wrestler about to deliver his finishing move.
“I was so worried! What on earth happened to you??”

“I hope my wedding gift made up for me being absent at your wedding, Seragaki-san.”
That voice.
It couldn’t really be her, could it? She did send in a letter a few weeks before the wedding, apologizing about how she couldn’t make it due to some personal problems. Aoba was worried of course, but what could he do? He was stuck in the middle of appointments and preparations, caught in a wedding frenzy that made him want to jump out before the whole crazy ride could finish. But there was no looking back; just moving forward. And now...
“- - Eru?”
“Is that really you?”

[[Come Sail Away]] - Closed for Aoba
trashbagbunny:
He huffed, staring down at the sand in his toes like a toddler on the verge of a tantrum. He honestly didn’t know why he was so opposed to the sunblock, its not like he could feel it on his skin… Perhaps it was merely his stubborn attitude surfacing as he had bluntly declared he would rather burn that been slathered in anymore of what looked to him like goose shit.
Flopping himself in front of his husband, he allowed the man to coat his already white back in even more of the offending substance, glowering out from under his hat like he was an old man bitter to the world as opposed to a newly married 19 year old trying to enjoy his honeymoon.
He supposed it was his German genes that made him so susceptible to the sun, though Aoba had nattered on about 17 years in the dark had left him with skin that was just screaming to be burnt, he had tuned him out to be honest, he didn’t really care all that much.
“I don’t see you covering yourself in this crap…” he pointed out, noticing the older boy was rather void of any sort of goopy white shit on his body, and he wasn’t forced to wear a ridiculous hat. “…. You better not be making this shit up just to make me look stupid”
Aoba pauses, halfway done with slathering another layer of sunblock on Noiz’ back. The blond did have a point although Aoba was more used to the harsh rays of the sun. Midorijima had many beaches and the weather was usually sunny so he never worried about getting sunburnt. Adaptability and all that.
Although he wouldn’t really want Noiz to feel like he was being unfair. Besides, something about his husband rubbing sunblock on his back sounded rather... appealing.
“Alright, you can put some on me too.”
Aoba hands the bottle over to Noiz before laying down on the beach mat, fingers hastily combing long blue tresses away from his back.
