A short timeline of events

March 2025 - Blockade

Israel prevents entry of food and humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Then they unilaterally break ceasefire.

May 2025 - Opening of GHF death traps

On May 27, Private US contractors roll out aid "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" sites backed by Israel. GHF was led by Jake Wood, a US military veteran, and now is directed by John Acree, longtime US imperialist who previously worked with USAID, and Johnnie Moore, an evangelical christian zionist and capitalist. These sites are all located in Israeli military zones, where journalists have no access.

June 2025 - GHF sites are condemned by everyone (except the zionists). Daily massacres continue at GHF sites.

GHF is immediately identified as a tool of genocide and condemned by aid and human rights organizations, the United Nations, and literally everyone on the ground from doctors to civilians.

The Gaza Health Ministry states that GHF "does not adhere to any professional or ethical standards of humanitarian work" and confirms civilian reports that GHF sites are staffed by armed private security personnel, and that both GHF staff and Israeli military have fired directly upon people collecting aid.

Save the Children's regional director for the Middle East, North Africa and eastern Europe, Ahmad Alhendawi released a statement that children were killed or injured in more than half of the fatal attacks at GHF sites, stating: "No child should be killed searching for food. This is not a humanitarian operation – it's a death trap. Forcing civilians into fenced-in zones only for them to be gunned down is the opposite of humanitarian – it's inhumane."

As of June 25, 549 people had been killed and more than 4,000 injured at or near GHF sites.

July 2025 - People continue to starve and endure daily massacres

As of July 16, The death toll of Palestinians killed near GHF aid hubs reached 700.

As of July 21, the death toll of Palestinians killed trying to access food aid reached 1,054.

UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East)'s Ms. Touma stated: “The so-called GHF distribution scheme is a sadistic death-trap. Snipers open fire randomly on crowds as if they're given a license to kill… This cannot be our new norm. Humanitarian assistance is not the job of mercenaries.”

As of July 24, the Health Ministry reported that there were 28,000 cases of malnutrition in Gaza, with over 5,000 recorded in July alone.

On July 29, IPC releases an alert stating that the "worst case scenario of famine" is unfolding in Gaza.

August 2025 - Today

Today alone over 79 people have been killed trying to reach food aid.

Tomorrow is August 4, my friend Fadel's birthday. This will be his second birthday during this war, the worst birthdays of his whole life. He will not be able to bake a birthday cake or receive any gifts.

He will not be able to rest in his home, because Israel bombed it while he was inside almost two years ago. He has not been able to recover from the injuries of this bombing because Israel has bombed and destroyed so many hospitals and health facilities.

He has not been able to save the money to travel to another hospital to get surgery to remove the shrapnel from this bombing because the blockade has enabled marketplace price gouging of food, and now just raising enough money to prevent starvation is extremely difficult.

He is disabled, and his medication is very expensive now. He has to choose between medication and food all the time now.

Help Ahmed and his father

Ahmed ( @mazen-fmaily ) has been fundraising to help his elderly father. His dad faces a variety of health complications, including hepatitis, kidney disease, and heart issues. He relies on machines and ventilators for life support and Ahmed has to keep up with medical payments in order to keep him connected. On top of life support, Ahmed's father also needs daily dialysis treatments and oxygen. Serious emergencies sometimes arise where his father needs surgery.

Now Ahmed is also facing medical costs of his own. He was shot at while trying to collect aid for him and his father. He needs surgery to reconnect the tendons in his leg, or else it will have to be amputated. I have not included photos of Ahmed's bandaged leg to hopefully avoid this post being flagged, but if you need to see them yourself, Ahmed shared some photos in this post

Ahmed is the sole provider for his father. His dad relies on him not only for his health, but also to bring him food and water. Ahmed already had to walk long distances and put himself in harms way to find food for him and his dad, but now his leg is injured and he may even lose it.

I never imagined waking up to endless screams,

Running barefoot through smoke and fire,

Infant needs food, medicine, and shelter—please help

I'll be quick. I'm writing this on behalf of Ammar, the infant child of our friend Samah, who lives trapped in Gaza, suffering bombardment and starvation at the hands of the Israeli army. I and my friend @murderbot have been in touch with her over the course of the past few months as she desperately tries to save Ammar's life.

With a few generous donations and by draining most of our savings, we've managed to come up with the money to get him enough medicine to keep him alive so far, but we are out of resources and need your help. Without that help, Ammar is likely to die.

Ammar needs three things urgently:

US$635 for a small amount of milk and diapers—he has not eaten in two days;

US$1025 for one of his weekly medical injections to treat his heart—if not delivered on time, he will need even more expensive medicine to stay alive;

US$2429 to pay off the debt on the tent he is living in with his mother—without this, the tent will be repossessed and he will be left out in the open to die.

All of these are urgent. The food is necessary ASAP, and the injection must be delivered by Tuesday morning (USA time). The tent will be repossessed if we can't pay for it by the 2nd of August.

I don't want you to come live in my place in Gaza, I just want you, while staying where you are, to:

1. Eat canned food only for ten days.

2. Shower once a week or every ten days.

3. Give up gas for cooking and use plastic or wood instead, if you can find them.

4. Give up all your clothes except for one pair of pants and a shirt, and wear them for two weeks.

5. Forget about tap water, use containers to collect water from any source, regardless of its cleanliness. Accept to drink it knowing it will make you sick, because there’s nothing else.

6. Make your whole life one long queue lasting hours.

7. Try having your son or daughter ask for something, anything, and not be able to fulfill the request.

8. Try sleeping with your entire family on just two mattresses.

9. Try becoming a beggar for 48 hours.

10. Try sleeping somewhere and waking up to find yourself standing amidst rubble and smoke everywhere.

11. Try being shocked every day by news of a friend or relative passing.

12. Try walking everywhere in torn shoes.

13. Try drinking tea that tastes like plastic.

14. Try sleeping under all types of warplanes and drones.

15. Try sleeping while the sound of shelling and explosions is just a few hundred meters away.

16. Try eating your food while sharing it with flies.

17. Try sleeping and waking up to mosquito bites all over your body.

18. Don’t try all of that, just imagine it… just imagine.

19. Try sleeping in a tent, freezing at night, stung by ants and insects, and waking with the birds as the sun roasts you like shish tawook.

20. Try entering the tent at noon or leaving it in this kind of weather.

Have you tried it?

Just try to imagine enduring all of that… and imagine what it means for my family, with elders and small children, to live through worse, for two whole years.

Now imagine your only money comes from strangers online, and every day you must convince even more strangers that you’re in need and worthy of their help. Imagine being largely ignored. Imagine you’ve said everything there is to say about your life and it’s not enough. Imagine the humiliation, the embarrassment, the guilt of always needing to ask again.
