If anyone knows about any spare tickets floating around the stratosphere for the ERS Tucson show, these guys want to go. They were at the Phoenix show, but I didn’t think I’d be able to get off work for the Tucson show. I did. We are still trying to meet the boys. Help us out if you have a lead.

I do need to watch that. I’m working on 4 costumes from Tim Burton’s movie 9 right now. They should be partially done for Halloween, but without all the little detail stuff that will take a bit longer. Then, I shall choose a new project.

Hi Tauri! I came across your blog while looking for a ratchet costume. Ratchet is my son's favorite character and despite my best efforts at talking him into Optimus Prime, he has his heart set on Ratchet. I'm reading as much info as I can online, but can I ask you for tips on how to begin? I've studied your photos carefully but am overwhelmed by the degree of craftsmanship and skill. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The main structure of the chest was built in cardboard first, then covered with EVA foam. I buy the big sheets of it at Costco. All of the other parts are just made with foam, then sprayed with a few layers of plasti dip (which you can get at Walmart or Lowes), then spray painted. I did make templates for most of the pieces out of cardboard first, because it’s cheaper than foam and I could trace the patterns on to the foam once I got them how I wanted them. The helmet was the hardest part, that was just free form. 

I also belong to a large group of Transformers cosplayers, we do the old school 80s versions, and our Facebook page has tons of progress pictures too. Ratchet was built the same way.

I did download the file and I didn't press the show edge id, so I am struggling to join my work. Please help me, thanks

You might have to print it out again with the show edge id highlighted. That’s what helps you line things up again. I probably printed out my first iron man helmet 10 times before I got it completely right and the correct size.
