Helloooo!!! I adore your art so much!! But I was wondering how your process goes like how do you get ideas and where did you get your inspiration from? Did you ever study the fundamentals? How do you use colors and find out what looks good together? Sorry for the amount of questions lol I just really want to get into your head when it comes to art yk? Lol
Hello, Thank you so much! You're very sweet. I will try my best to answer all of your questions. However I do have to preface this by saying I am not very good at drawing so please don't take this as advice - I don't believe I'm somebody qualified to give it. And it frightens me that I could accidentally hinder someone's progress (I divided my answer into parts so it's easier to digest, excuse my English❤️🙏🏻)
1. My process is pretty basic. I have a vague idea of a drawing in mind and I try to sketch out as many possible compositions as I can and choose the best one. I'm a very impatient person so my sketches are extremely minimal, I go pretty much straight to "lineart" which is not ideal because it comes out sort of wonky. I very quickly get to the colors, and I color bits of the lineart after because I believe it makes the drawing softer. After that I add little details or I change major parts of the drawing completely - it's all really random. I never do clean up. I don't polish any of my drawings, I don't enjoy "rendering" I like my drawings to be simple. I also think it would take too much time. I love the process of drawing but I want it to be done as quickly as possible, maybe that's why. It usually takes me 2 hours, maybe less, I do it all in one go. That's why they look.. how they look..
2. As for my ideas - on this account, i post pretty much only fanart, so I dont think my drawings are too creative or nuanced, unfortunately. I draw the characters based on the original source or the official art and that doesn't require much thought from me because I'm not exactly creating anything from scratch - the characters and their stories are already there in front of me. As for art in general, I think I find inspiration all around me, but i don't really look for it, so I can't give you a very straightforward answer. I operate on sudden bursts of inspiration in a way. I guess you could say it is almost divine intervention.
3. When it comes to fundamentals, yes absolutely I try to study them all the time. I am nowhere near where I want to be when it comes to my art. I share it because I think that it's fun but I believe there are countless things I do wrong so I try very hard to improve. I know my digital art focuses a lot on lines and clear edges but I think the most important thing is really recognizing shapes and patterns. For example when I draw portraits - I try to forget what a face is supposed to look like. I just focus on the shapes I see and I try to create an illusion of detail rather than actually drawing every little thing. Of course this is very hard and tricky when I draw characters because my art is very stylized so I'm still unsure how to implement that technique there. But I believe the basics are crucial to giving your art structure and this is something I aspire to have, although I know how far away I'm from my goal.
4. I have to admit I have nothing intelligent to say about the colors. I'm glad you like them because it is something that I'm often very uncertain of. Picking colors is for me based on trial and error, I experiment with different palettes and try to find what "feels" best, but there's nothing intentional about it. I've always struggled with colors, so I really enjoy the freedom to experiment that drawing digitally gives me.
I think that's all I can say, I hope it's not too long. I don't think there's anything revolutionary about my answer, I actually don't believe I said anything at all, so I'm sorry about that. I sat on this a long time because this question made me very embarrassed, but again, I really appreciate that you enjoy my art. Im always happy to hear that, and I think it's sweet. Thank you ❤️❤️
