Su Anasy(Су анасы) is a water spirit from my native culture. She was created in a fairy tale by the Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, and in the plot, a boy steals her golden comb. I wanted to share my thoughts with you in more detail this time – through the more familiar to you image of Kanata. I wanted to show the beauty of my native culture, which is slowly but surely being erased by my country. It's the least I can do, experiencing constant daily pressure in this country. In my childhood, we studied Tatar fairy tales and were proud of them, but now, in the schools of our republic, children are forced to sing songs like "I am Russian," paying no attention to the diversity and beauty of nations other than Russians living in the country and their cultures. They instill in children hatred and cruelty towards people, instead of a love for fairy tales and art. This work is my attempt to preserve and give to the world this love and faith, especially in such difficult times. I also wanted to show you a piece of my soul—one that so tenderly loves my native Tatar culture, yet so hates the government of my country (of course, not only because they erase the dignity of my culture—but this particular phenomenon is not often spoken about, so I wanted to take the initiative. Other, smaller nations have it even harder). I hope you won't hate me after learning where I was born and live—I truly do everything I can as a young girl to resist the cruel order in my country.
