"Well, I don't think of her as a wicked witch."
"It should be comfortable enough," Elphaba said, she still wasn't entirely used to people praising her power, only Madame Morrible and the Wizard had before, she shied away from it now.
"Are you tired, or would you like to join me for a nightcap?"
"It looks comfortable," he nodded. The promise of a hopefully good long sleep almost pulled him in, but at the mention of a nightcap and getting to spend some more time tonight with her, sleep could always wait.
"I would never say no to a nightcap with you," he smiled, "Are you stocked up or do you want my mystery hip flask?" he teased.
As soon as Fiyero was away, The Grimmerie flipped open on it's own accord pages flipping until they settled on the spell Elphaba needed. She hardly had to read the words on the page, after pouring so much magic into this tree to make it her hide out.
Instead, she focused her intention, imagining the lofty nest-like bed she was preparing for Fiyero. Finally she finished her spell and looked over the bed she'd created, all it would need was a few pillows and blankets that she could spare.
After arranging those on the bed, she made herself busy banking the fire for the night, waiting for Fiyero to return.
Fiyero returned inside, looking around when he felt a change in the air. Though he couldn't quite point out what he was feeling. Was it magic? Or was it just a change in the air?
He walked a little further in until he spotted Elphaba. Then the bed he knew hadn't been there before he went outside. "Did you... make that just now?" he looked amazed at her creation, "Wow."

The choices were vast, from simple golden bands to glittering jewel encrusted rings.
"I don't want something too big, something that will get caught on things." Elphaba explained, so the jewel encrusted rings were immediately out.
"I'd still like some color though, maybe one of the bands with the jewel set into the metal?"
"Understandable. Perhaps one of these will be more to your taste," the store owner moved to another case that held stunning rings with more color, but less extravagant so they'd be a bother for it's wearer.
"Jewelry should never be a bother. You have good taste," the owner complimented as he saw the rings she already wore. Fiyero stood back, tilted a little to the side like he sometimes did when his mind wandered and his unsteady body was left to balance on it's own. His eyes tracking over some rings with rather ridiculously large stones.
Still smiling, Elphaba watched the fire dance in comfortable silence for awhile.
"You should go check on Feldspar, makes sure he's comfortable for the night. I'll make a bed up for you." Her home had never felt so small, but with a little magic she could make a comfortable enough bed for Fiyero.
"You must be exhausted after everything that's happened today."
"I should," he nodded, giving her hand a squeeze before backing off. "I don't think I have had a good night's sleep in years," he shrugged. He was used to it, but it had become even worst the last few years.
He left to check on Feldspur and it took his friend one glance at him to know things had gone well for him. "She likes me," Fiyero whispered, rubbing his face as if he couldn't quite believe it. "Everyone likes you," the blue horse rolled his eyes. "I only need you and her to like me," Fiyero grinned, rubbing Feldspur behind the ear as he liked it. He made sure to rid his friend of his saddle and bridle once Feldspur had shown him a soft green spot for the night under a tree nearby.
It was so kind and generous of him, a side of him she'd only really seen that day with the lion cub. Elphaba supposed this was the real Fiyero under all the bluster and princely faƧade.
"That's very good of you," most men probably wouldn't be so good if they'd ever gotten this far with her.
She smiled a little when he kissed her again.
"I don't think I'll get used to all this anytime soon."
"I try," he smiled, "You deserve someone to be good to you. You deserve everyone to be good to you," he said and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into an actual hug. She was so petite compared to him, but the amount of power and strength she carried was beyond measure.
He chuckled and leaned back, giving her some space again. Considering how new she was to intimacy like this, he didn't want to push it either. "I don't think I will either," he teased.

Elphaba felt her cheeks heat, but the feeling of his thumb tracing her cheek kept her from pulling away.
The way he looked at her set butterflies loose in her belly.
"I don't have much experience with any of this..." she admitted, this literally had been her first kiss ever!
"... I'm sorry."
"Please don't apologize for that," he shook his head. He couldn't understand how no one ever wanted to kiss and love her, but he had witnessed enough to know it to be true somehow.
"Don't worry. We are not doing anything you're not comfortable with," he assured, tilting his head and kissing her softly again, "We take everything at your tempo."
Elphaba shook her head at his teasing, the both new that wasn't really her style. Elphaba flashed a smile back at the owner, though Fiyero's confession made that smile grow.
That was very much like him.
"Good morning," Elphaba greeted as they approached the counter, Fiyero still glued to her side.
"We would like to look at rings, please."
"Wonderful. I was hoping to see you again and not just because of the pay," the store owner smiled. Coming off as someone who genuinely enjoyed their work and making people happy. "We have our wedding and engagement rings over in this case," the owner led them over to the rings, "But we have plenty of choices for different tastes."
Fiyero rested his chin on Elphaba's shoulder while he looked at the rings too. Curious of which ones might be more to her taste and if he had been way off in his guesses.
"Flatterer." Elphaba teased, though her smile was irrepressible, she'd finally been kissed by a man who she'd wanted for longer than she'd let herself admit.
"As far as first kisses go, it was..." she searched for the right word for a moment as he nuzzled their noses together.
"... perfect."
"My flatter for you is nothing if not sincere," Fiyero defended playfully. His hand having moved up to brush a braid back behind her ear. His finger tailing gently along her temple as he watched her. Those big, green eyes and her freckles had him in an iron grip.
"Hmmm," he smirked, settling with his hand on her neck. Brushing his thumb over her cheek. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and that Oz could not see that - that was something he would never understand. Never accept and never stand for. "If the first kiss was perfect, imagine what follows could be," he teased.

She'd given up the dream of being someone's wife long before she'd even had it really, she was the shame of her family, her verdant skin too ugly to love.
But Fiyero had shown her otherwise, showed her that she was beautiful. That he wanted her, so her smile widened as he affectionately called her his sweet and wrapped an arm around her waist as they walked.
"I don't need anything ostentatious." She reminded him as they walked.
"It would just get in the way of my work anyway."
"What if the one ring you fall in love with is ostentatious?" he teased, giving her side a squeeze. He didn't care what kind of ring she wanted to get as long as it was something she truly wanted. He knew she loved her rings and it would make him unbelievably happy to give her one she could look at as a proof of his devotion to her.
The jewelry shop was a small one in one of the oldest buildings in town and the store owner flashed the curious couple a smile as they entered. "I might have sneaked in here a few times without you knowing in hopes that there could be anything to your liking here," he confessed against her temple.

Elphaba, naturally, had no experience with kissing. But she knew immediately that Fiyero was a very good kisser.
Closing her eyes so she could stay in this moment for as long as possible, she surrendered control and followed his lead, moving closer, for the moment she could forget everything but him and she liked it.
When her lungs screamed for air, she reluctantly pulled back, pressing her forehead against his and smiling.
"Well... was it everything you dreamed?"
For an unreasonable moment he hated that they needed to breathe, but then he was granted that beautiful smile of hers. He very gently let his hands slip from her waist and up along her back instead. Truly appreciating that he was finally holding her in his arms after so long.
"My dreams could never compare," he murmured. His smile splitting his face as their foreheads touched. Circling her nose with his own before placing a little peck on her lips, followed by one on her cheek. "I feel like my heart is about to burst through my chest," he laughed softly. Wanting her to feel how much he adored her.
