“Yes? I Mean you’re not more mad about it? I know I just got the shoes like a month ago.” He replied with a shrug. There was a slight smile, tugging at the corner of his lips, happy and surprised at his moms response. “Really? Sweet, I’ll just order another pair online if thats cool? Hey can I maybe get some new shorts too, since its almost summer and all?” He grinned fully now, hoping his smile would work as good as it usually did when it came to getting his way.

courtney snorted and shook her head, "no, of course not silly. he's a puppy. he's still learning." She said, smiling. she laughed, nodding her head, "of course. you can get you a couple pairs of shorts if you'd like, sweetheart."

If there was anyone in the world that Everett knew he could count on, it was his mom. Sure, things in his life had been a bit messy, and he had been upset about it for a long time, he still loved his mom more than anything. Hearing her familiar voice as she came upstairs, Everett took a deep breath and followed her into her bedroom “So uh, Grover just chewed up my new shoes, I’m sorry.” He found it best to admit things like this straight up. His mom could always tell when he was lying anyway.

Courtney side-eyed Everett as she waited for him to tell her what he needed to. She noted that he seemed slightly nervous so it only made her curious. Hearing what he had to say, she grinned. "That's what you seemed nervous to tell me about?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "If you want, you can buy you a new pair of shoes online or I can give you my card and you can go tomorrow after school." She didnt really trust people with her card but when it came to Everett and Harleigh, she didn't mind letting them have it for things they needed or wanted.

Everett was busy in his room, working on his schoolwork. He was humming along to Johnny Cash not really paying attention to what was going on around him, like the fact that his dog was chewing up his brand new shoes. When he finally glanced up from his homework, he looked over and mumbled under his breath. “Shit. Moms gonna kill me.” He sighed, grabbing the shoe off his bed, and heading out of his room, “Mom?!” He called out into the hallway, hoping she was home and that she could hear him.

Mom. It was the first thing the brunette heard as soon as she walked in the door, but it put a smile on her face. Courtney had screwed up..a lot in her life, but Everett was the one thing she did right and while most probably loathed the fact, he was the apple of Courtney's eye. She let out a soft chuckle as she walked into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of wine then made her way upstairs, "Yes, sweetheart," She offered him a smile, walking into the bedroom she shared with Scarlett, and signaling for him to follow.

scarlett saw the woman kick off her shoes and smiled, “get that cute little ass over here!! i’ve been dying for some sweet lady kisses since i got home.” she joked, well, half joked. she cocked an eyebrow and looked at her fiance with a slightly confused look, “court, i haven’t been attached since anastasia. you know that. she was my baby. but like that was how long ago? anyways, what about them?”

"i'm sorry i'm so late. i had to take care of things at the diner." she hated lying to scarlett but what she did was illegal and the less scarlett knew the better. she pressed a kiss to scarlett's lips and smiled, "better?" she sighed, "we could have adopted her.just like we did harleigh," she said with a bright smile. harleigh was courtney's baby and there was no way in hell courtney was going to let her age out and leave. so...we can either get a bigger house or just let them age out and leave. but i vote the latter because i'm not moving again."

work. it felt as though that was all courtney did these days and not nearly enough time with her children. children. plural. though harleigh was not biologically her child, courtney thought of her as such and after long talks with scarlett, everett, and hareigh, there was no way the bruntte would let the girl age out and risk losing her so they adopted her. she approached her room, smiling as she stood in the doorway, “so i was thinking since you’re actually now part of the family, we could make your room more..permanent.”

it was a long day. probably the longest courtney had in awhile. patient after patient, client after client, and all she wanted was to come to scarlett and her son. walking into the house, she set her keys down on the table by the door, and walked upstairs, into the room the two shared. she kicked her shoes off, glancing over at the bed, she flashed a smile, "evening beautiful." she grabbed a tank top and a pair of shorts and did a quick change. she quickly rushed over to the door and closed it, turning to scarlett, "so we need to talk about some of these kids..i'm not as attached as you are...but one of them is turning 18 next year.."

“Convince Scarlett it’s completely rational to let me run away from civilization entirely?” Batting his eyes never really got him anything, but it at least made him sound like he was only joking. Though, he was just joking…mostly.

courtney laughed, "i don't think scarlett would go for that."

“Between final exams, AP exams, and waiting on my standardized test scores, the ‘run away and live in a remote location in the mountains’ option is sounding pretty good.”

"anything i can do to help?" she asked. between the diner, her job, and her side job, she wasn't home very often but when she was, she made every effort to be around for the kids.
