Why do you think ORAS’s third volume release has been delayed for years?
they've actually been making the most satisfying intricate ru/sa slow burn . We get a courtney return for like 2 frames where she's like Wow zinnia that's pretty fucked up of you sorry about the wheelchair thing but i straight died so i think you have it easy. We get actual multigen dexholder interactions during the crisis instead of 2 panel phone calls and we get more steven grappling with the weight of what he's done to the pokemons lives he's drained. Uhhh trust me i know kusaka personally
This reminds me of how Steven was set up in the XY arc as a hero and then ORAS happened, which I think is incredibly cool of them to do that. Yamamoto saying he draw Steven and Joseph like Lysandre and Xerosic when they both activated the Absorber and Ultimate Weapon in the author's notes was also very bold.
yes!!! im having a really good time throwing two very diff characters together (lotta norman interactions w really varied characters throughout) and seeing how they interact it's part of what makes r/s postcanon so funn. everyone in the room HAS met before in the plot it's just about seeing more of it.
the cute thing courtney and plat would go great for their first meeting. very cheerful small talk! back and forth fashion compliments! while moon's death glaring courtney from a distance, sixth sense activated. knows that there's something Very wrong with her

Oh my god i really want the flashes. I have some stuff written down in here but here's what i haven't forgotten:
Ruby isn't doing great in school for some deeper reason (alright academically, but there are ripples of an Event that happened. I don't remember The Event)
his only friend is courtney who he met working at forever 21 for (you guessed it) minumum wage. She is only the best influence and he ends up lying to his parents about his shift timing so they can get slushies at shitty diners together after work. They chuck clothes at each other and hide out in the stockrooms.
Friend is an overstatement somewhat. But he really doesn't talk to anyone else and they both care for each other in Some way so.
A little while later, Sapphire moves in next door. Lived in other countries her whole life. Something ecology professor father, been homeschooled on the Galapagos islands type. Ruby's mom pushes him to take care of her in school that she's now attending as well, and he has to hold the shambles of his social life together. After the Event and now being seen around her, loud, brash, not conforming socially at all etc, it's not going well for him. But the more he's around her the more he wants to continue being around her
welcome back! its okay im norman-pilled about it too. thinking if ruby gets formally diagnosed with something later in life after maybe like an epileptic episode and ruby and norman stare at each other in the hospital like ....... when it comes out that norman knew something all along because he just had to communicate that to a doctor and ruby starting to put the pieces together for symptoms he repressed thinking about. Messy!

Hijacking this to talk about modern gabena sibs au LMAOO sorry. I don't know how long this'll get under the cut
When Remi (11) and Yvonne (6)'s father left, Grace, furious, dragged them both down to the court to get their last names changed. Grace and Yvonne took her old maiden name, Gabena. Remi insisted on a hyphenation with his father's name. Beaumont-Gabena. There's no one true point where he would truly say the antagonising started, but if he had to pick, it'd probably be then.
He's 18 when he inherits his father's college fund. His father's only college fund-- Y didn't get one, being too young when he left. Y and Grace both believe he should use the money for the family; Grace is a single parent, Remi's been working part-time since it was legal. But Remi's tired. Between Grace and her closest friend (Shauna's mom, Samuela), there's some real hostility towards men that's been brewing for the past seven plus years that unconsciously includes him no matter how much he contributes. He's exhausted of his father who he did love being villainized more than necessary. He takes the money and leaves for a college hours away. Yvonne, bitter, blocks him; Grace calls infrequently and Remi, guilty, picks up even less. He makes acquaintances (and friends--Emma being one), goes to classes and casual dinner parties alike. He's doing okay.
It's a year later in one of those infrequent Grace-Remi calls that she tells him Shauna and Tasha might get put into foster care. Samuela and her husband's major fights got them removed, some dementia-riddled grandparents weren't adequate caregivers, and what initially began with a Samuela divorce court case cascaded into a massive, horrific family war, with multiple new crimes reported and court cases beginning spanning restraining orders, long-term tax evasion, theft and more, so there's barely anyone who can serve as guardians. Grace has Shauna under her roof, of course, she's practically her second daughter, but she doesn't have the funds or space for another.
Remi ruminates for a few days. Then he packs up and takes the train back.
When he starts taking care of Tasha, Yvonne still hates his ass for leaving and can't forgive him. But Shauna is overwhelmingly thankful that someone they know is taking care of her. Grace is the one who called him back, but for the initial few months he has Tasha, they're still not on good terms yet. Thoroughly isolating time for him raising a kid nearly alone. Until he meets a pretty student doctor while getting bandaged up for a minor motorcycle accident and it spirals into a decadelong love story and eventual family reunion but that's another story LOL
(1) what is the dumbest possible version of the next sentence you need to write?) "I won't," Norman promises. If he had a penny for every eleven-year-old he'd beat the fuck in with a Slacking twice their size, he'd have fifteen, and it was high time to earn another.
(2) what is the dumbest possible description of the scene you are trying to work on?) Gym Leaders desperately theorycraft onion fairy lore like they're FNAF youtubers
(5) what is the next thing you need to write that's interesting to you?) cannot WAIT to clean up this ruby & joseph stone interaction. one of the darkest (unbeknownst to ruby) but also one of the most necessary interactions in the whole fic for them both
(6) is there a problem you are trying to solve?) there's multiple minor characters that haven't appeared but deserve to be in a story like this. trying to plug them in with an unfinished sideplot to see what happens!
