🌈Queer Witch Tips🌈
Low key happy I didn’t make this post on my old blog. These are my tips from one genderqueer pan witch to anyone reading this I guess? I haven’t seen many posts on the topic so I thought I would share my tips and tricks! Enjoy!
✨Crystals✨
I’ll talk about what each one is for specifically but I wanted to include the order in which I would talking about them: mental illnesses/dysphoria/anxiety/etc., hormones, protection/warding, healing, and self-love(we could use it). These are my personal correspondences, please feel free to use your own!
Petalite - A stone that holds lithium inside, it is good for the calming and balancing of traumatized energies and emotions. It’s also a good aid in manifestation, tranquility, and upliftment.
Amethyst - Probably the most universally recommended stone for anxiety, it can help still thoughts, and clear your negative energy field of unhealthy influences, thoughts, and attachments. It is a wonderful stone for protection, warding, and purification.
Tourmalinated Quartz - A combination of the healing properties of clear quartz and tourmaline. The melding of these two minerals creates a powerful healing energy that works together to restore harmony and tranquility. Clear quartz helps to elevate your consciousness, ease anxiety and intrusive thoughts, and bring clarity into your life by working as an amplifier. The black tourmaline works to keep your energy in balance even in the presence of destructive and harmful energies, it is a wonderful aid in purification and protection.
Rhodocrosite - This stone works vibrationally to support self-healing, it works to release the memories and ties to one’s emotional wounds. It helps soothe the hearth and comfort the soul, helping one claim one’s rightful powers and be everything you were meant to be. It is a wonderful aid in emotional healing, recovery of forgotten gifts, self-love, and compassion.
Rainbow Moonstone - A personal favorite, rainbow moonstone offers the gift of inner peace and harmony, emotional balance and strength, purification, and assistance of transformation of self and negative energies. It is a wonderful aid in self-discovery, intuition, and patience.
Lepidocrocite - A stone of energetic alignment, bringing into proper relationship and harmony all aspects of one’s astral, subtle and emotional bodies. It is a wonderful stone in assisting emotional healing, release of self-destructive patterns, love and empathy, and soul retrieval.
Hemimorphite - Perfect for manifesting the energies of well-being on multiple levels. “Hemimorphite’s energy tends to blend sorrow and joy into a ingle flow of compassionate emotional involvement, [healing], and empathy, for oneself and others.” - Robert Simmons pg.239. It is a wonderful stone for aura balancing, emotional healing and communication, empathy, joy, and channeling.
Black Tourmaline - Briefly discussed earlier, black tourmaline is ideal for psychic and physical protection for anyone who is living/working in a challenging place or circumstance. This stone is honestly great for anyone faced with oppression.
Bloodstone - A stone that’s traditionally been used in balancing hormones and helping stabilize hormones through changes(i.e. menopause, pregnancy, transitioning, other hormone stuff I don’t know about).(Simmons, Robert pgs.102-03) It is also a wonderful aid in strength, courage, purification, and vitality.
Labradorite - An all around wonderful stone for protection and magic. It is also a crystal for those embarking on a (personal/physical)adventure, it offers the change for one to embark upon multiple voyages of self-discovery and transition. Also, hands down my favorite stone for warding/shielding.
Malachite - One of the most important stones for protection from negative energies. “It permeates the auric field with positive vibrations and strengthens the natural energetic ‘shell’ which can screen out hostile forces”. - Robert Simmons, pg. 299 It is also an excellent aid in creativity, confidence, and healing of the heart.
Smokey Quartz - The premier grounding stone, it is wonderful for transmutation of negative energies, organization, and the manifestation of one’s dreams and inspirations.
Ruby Zoisite - The combination of ruby and zoisite creates the potential for a truly magical manifestation of one’s inner and outer developments. It also aids in awakening your true self, joyful engagement with life, healing, and increasing your overall life force.
Spirit Quartz - A stone for bringing a peace of mind and freedom of fear. It can be used to help one merge with their higher selves, purification, protection, spiritual evolution, and healing.
Rose Quartz - A quintessential stone of love - for oneself, for those around the, the community, the Earth, for everything. This is my favorite crystal because it always feels like a warm embrace. It is it wonderful to work with if you’re hoping to work on self-love, self transformation, emotional healing, release of stress, or uniting with the Divine(aka yourself😘)
Pink Halite - Another bomb stone for manifesting self-love! It not only helps to experience feelings of self-love, but also to take action-to actually do the things self love implies. “It can really clear up the air in many ways! It is recommended that those who work in environments of negativity or indirect communication keep a piece of Pink Halite on them or on their desk.” - Robert Simmons, pg.228
Pink Calcite - The energies of Pink Calcite enhance and stabilize the heart’s field and offers healing to the auric fields. It is a good stone to use for general well-being, wholeness, good health, empathy and connection with the mind and heart.
✨Herbs✨
This is pretty basic and to the point. Herbs I’ve used to help cope with anxiety and calm me down when I’m feeling dysphoric, most of these are suggested to help with mental and emotional strains we deal with. All herbs listed are safe to use while on hormone therapy and I’ve included a few you should stay away from while transitioning. At the bottom is a list of herbs you could use purely based on metaphysical properties - please do research and talk to your doctor before ingesting any of them.
Lavender - Research suggests that the benefits of drinking lavender tea or using it for aromatherapy once a day, it may be useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness. Magically it can be used for anxiety, cleansing, self-love, purification, and balance.
Chamomile - Research also suggests chamomile may promote sleep, treat insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Magically it can be used for prosperity, peace, love, tranquility and purification.
Rose - I drink rose tea pretty much any time I want a boost to my mood or have a bad headache(usually paired with green-tea). A 2011 study found that the extract of rose petals can relax the central nervous system in mice. Magically it can be used for self-love, self-confidence, healing, happiness, and general good luck.
Peppermint - Used to reduce stress and relieve you from anxiety. The menthol contained in peppermint is a natural muscle relaxant. Magically it can be used for prosperity, abundance, health, purification, and healing.
St. John’s Wort - St John’s Wort interacts negatively with hormones(including birth control my non-baby wanting friends) so if you’re transitioning it could seriously delay your progress. As well as hormones it also negatively interacts with many anti-anxiety and depression medications. They actually interact so negatively together that France has banned the entire use of St. John’s Wort product. Japan, Canada, and the UK are currently relabeling all SJW to proper warnings and Canada is also discussing banning it.
Kava - This interacts pretty poorly with any medication that needs to be broken down by the liver by speeding up the cycle of how quickly some medications are broken down. This includes excess hormones, if you are transitioning I would talk to your doctor before drinking/taking Kava. While it will not halt your transition it can increase the side effects like nausea, migraines, cramping, etc.
General magical herbs recommendations: willow, birch, olive, cocoa, strawberry, vanilla, bay leaves, yarrow, cloves, meadowsweet, lemonbalm, rosemary, eucalyptus, and hibiscus.
✨Tips✨
If you’re a religious person reach out to your god(s) for assistance! To help keep you safe and confident when you leave the house. If you a Norse practitioner(or are considering it) look into the gods Lofn, Freyr, and Loki.
Do you have a preferred oil/scent you like to wear make you feel like your desired gender? Enchant it to help ward off dysphoria & for those around you to use your proper pronouns.
You can use sigils, staves, or runes for protection, self love, to ward away dysphoria, etc. I don’t have much sigil wise to offer but the runes Fehu, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo, Thurisaz, Algiz, and Inguz would all be good to use!
You can even stitch runes/sigils into an article of clothing, draw it on a tag with marker, find mundane ways to incorporate it in your life safely.
Use oak bark, leaves, or acorns in your altar or craft - maybe even carry one on you! Oak symbolizes strength and transition. It’s also symbolic for the Norse god Thor, the protector of all of humankind.
Use decks that queer themed or made by LGBT members.

Trung Nguyen’s tarot deck is still in the process but features four different Lovers card!

Queer Street Tarot
There’s a whole bunch more like: Slutist Tarot, Delta Enduring Tarot, Slow Holler Tarot, and Next World Tarot!
Take time to meditate on yourself. How does being queer give you a new perspective to magic? How can you tie in your sexuality, experiences, and gender identity into your individual practice?
Charge a piece of jewelry, a small crystal, really anything tiny and portable with the energy of your gender identity and the happiness you feel when you’re addressed with the right pronouns. Keep this item on you and when you’re feeling dysphoric hold the item and use that energy to stabilize you and help you heal.
Consider learning how to set up personal wards/shields. Use these to help you feel comfortable with your identity but to also keep toxic and negative folk away. Bonus if performed on the new moon because of bonus protection.
Tbh, if calling yourself a witch makes you uncomfortable use whatever term makes you happy. Warlock, wizard, healer, etc. it doesn’t matter. Just as a friendly reminder though, witch is a gender neutral term and everyone is welcome to use it.
