DO THE THING
â (WHAT ABOUT NOW?) ((Cowardly Core))
[ Send me a â and my muse will kiss yours ]
As with most of what she did, the kiss was guided by impulse.Â
The ramshackle door had all but collapsed under their touch, recoiling on its hinges with a graceless creak! as they negotiated themselves through the narrow space the lift afforded them. The dim half-light of the dingy fluorescent was eclipsed by a sudden rectangle of pure, blinding nothingness; assaulting them with a flash of white so unlike the cold glow of Apertureâs artificial sun that Chell couldnât help but flinch.Â
Blinking feverishly, her eyes adjusted and a gilded field unravelled beneath the devastating blue of the sky. Her heart welled in her chest. The sky.Â
Entranced, she crossed the threshold of the elevator, relishing in the organic crunch of gravel beneath her boots, the gentle breeze caressing her bare skin, the warm kiss of the sunââ the sun!
With a display of will power unlike anything she had known, she pried herself away from the scene and beamed at her fellow escapeeââ sharing the bliss of the moment and possibly even searching for reassurance that theyâd truly left their tandem Hell behind. Â
And suddenly her arms were around him, lips expressing the sense of gratitude they could never justly achieve through language.Â
He had been staring out, his mechanical eyes able to almost immediately adjust. He was struck. The real world once again⌠he hadnât see any real sun, real crops⌠real DIRT since heâd entered the robotics project long before his transformation. He blinked and nodded his head, they really were outside. they had really made it.
When she returned he was a bit confused, but then her arms came up, her body pushed against his, and their lips met. His system whirred in an attempt to understand what was happening.
When the kiss finally broke he looked at her. She was breathing heavily, was it because of the kiss? Or because she wasnât breathing recycled air anymoreâŚ?
âC-chell?â
Reality was quick to reassert itself and, unlike the aftermath of so many other rash decisions, she wasnât swept up in the whirlwind of a toppling mainframe or the vacuum of space, rather found herself in the midst of a daunting silence. What had once been a cherished companion reared back and snarled, sending her voice scampering back into the depths of her throatââ for once, not by her own volition.Â
She untangled her arms from around his neck and retreated a considerable distance, wracking her mind for an idea of exactly what came next. She had lived her life via the problem-solution dichotomy of Aperture; catwalks and lifts foretold your path when the colored nodes lacing the test chambers were absent. This grey nonevent of the Outside was already providing her with a jarring sense of culture-shock.Â
Not to mention humiliation.
âSorry.â
He had started to embrace the feeling when she pulled away, sending him into another confused whirl. âChell... no Ah...â he hadnât meant to make her regret her actions... but they couldnât- he knew her as a child. He couldnât do that to her and wouldnât that break his promise?
âItâs alright Chell.â he promised. âAh know it was jusâ a spur a the moment thing.â internally he frowned, he hadnât hated the action, perhaps he needed to be checked.

WRESTLE TEN BEARS W ME
âCh-ah-llenge ah-ccepted.â
Hi, Adventure girl.
âŚI think this image pretty much sums up the Cores, tbh.
What does it mean to be human?

Look me in the eye and tell me the top one isnât Rick.Â
Re-blog if you're accepting anonymous asks from anyone about anything.
âI wonder what itâs like beyond the palace walls?â (Cowardly Core) ((Imagine Rick being the head of the fucking guard and Chell being a servant tho))
âI would have thought you had the luxury of knowing,â Chell said evenly, her voice carrying the undertones of envy.
âThat will be difficult⌠staging the escape will be hard enough, however I will try, they canât expect you to run without a bit of protection. I can probably only get you a small dagger, something you can hide easily.â he thought a moment. âThere is one⌠will it suffice?â he asked, smiling a bit. âI canât do this unless someone escapes, and you are the bravest of all the servants.â
She offered a curt nod, the plan unravelling across her plane of thought; a map of terrain she knew far too well rewritten with treacherous schematics. The breach of the interior walls would be simpleââ she could leave on the pretense of stepping out for air, and that would be on the off-chance one bothered asking. It was the dash across the circumscribing acre that was riddled with snares.Â
His treason would be known only to herââ his feigned pursuit of her would be the resounding cue for his men to follow suit. She couldnât outrun a housebound knightââ even less so the arrows more than likely to be fired from keen-eyed archers.Â
âWhat about a steed?âÂ
âA steed would be impossible, they would never believe You could do all that alone, a weapon and a chance is all I can offer you.â he frowned. âYouâre asking too much, though I will have a steed when I give chase, you might be able to âtakeâ it from me.â he offered.
She had a look in her eye that said she had thought about that a lot...

âI have a plan that could aid us both⌠but I must have your help. I will watch the gates alone, and you escape, I will chase you myself and we will both be free of the chains we were born wearing.â He got her to listen, so maybe they really could do this⌠was she on board? He searched her face, looking for any kind of reaction that would hint to consent in the matter, he grew a bit worried as he didnât see any kind of reaction, he didnât want this to fall through, he was the head of guard, no one would believe her if she said he was going to betray the kingdom⌠âI have little to lose⌠but if you decide to try and convince the family of this plan they will not believe you.â he warned. âThey will call it heresy and imprison you, with very little more than a strange look in my direction.â
âIâm offering the best chance either of us get at escaping this, please join me.â
She stared impassively, any inflection in her eyes weighed down by years of firm conditioning; when one was held in no higher regard than the furniture (the less expensive installments, at least), they came to adopt the associated mannerisms. Her silence was a mandate of her ranking; a reaction out of turn was not only frowned upon, but regarded as much of an anomaly as a chair protesting it be sat on.Â
It was in this manner that she discovered the subtler shades of defiance.Â
The camouflage of being branded unremarkable swathed her as she flitted along the hallowed corridors, slipping by unnoticed and unannounced. Growing familiar with the familyâs schedules, gathering herself little treasures from under the Mistressâs nose, biding her time.Â
She blinked.
âI wish to be armed.â He had a friendly faceââ something that warranted the utmost caution.Â
âThat will be difficult... staging the escape will be hard enough, however I will try, they canât expect you to run without a bit of protection. âDo you even remember what humans are?â He asked suddenly. âCraig youâve got to stop this, the human part of you is just as important as this past, if not more so.â He sighed. âLet be at just look at the station, I can fix any damage that you might have missed on it.â He stepped toward the other. âPlease let me help you.â
Of course he remembered humans. Craig didnât encounter a lot of them these days, but he was working on understanding all those strictly unnecessarily human parts of him; the emotions programmed into him, the moral coding, the ability to process touch and pain and pleasure - all the efforts that had been made to create androids that were believably human.Â
âWhy should I trust you to look into any of my files?â he asked, ignoring the first question. âI cannot imagine how you intend to âhelpâ me.âÂ
âBecause Iâm the one that designed these damn bodies. I know the most about them besides the mechanics themselves... and theyâre dead, I can fix your eye.â he shook his head. âIf you keep going like this you will shut down, and your systems wonât even know itâs happening until itâs long since too late.â
âYouâre right, I was just worried about you.â he replied. âI guess youâre not used to an uncorrupted core roaming around, but I still care about the active systems in this place (Mostly because I built them) because Iâm one and I donât want to end up the only active system in a dead and endlessly dark hallway named Aperture.â
That was pressing a lot of tense points at once. Craig stiffened somewhat, uncomfortable. âMy Aperture currently has no corrupted cores,â he insisted. âDo not spout nonsense, Adventure.âÂ
A soft whirring noise came from behind his temples, and Craig forced himself to attempt to calm down. Just a little.Â
â⌠Rest assured I have no intentions to leave someone like you alone as the only active core in here - such a thought would surely worry anyone. My battery is at 93.4%, as I charge regularly again.âÂ
"Do you even remember what humans are?" He asked suddenly. "Craig you've got to stop this, the human part of you is just as important as this past, if not more so." He sighed. "Let be at just look at the station, I can fix any damage that you might have missed on it." He stepped toward the other. "Please let me help you."
âWell to be perfectly honest I was looking for Craig, but it seems that âRick ainât here, so why would Ah need âim.â so yes, the Adventure sphere was looking for the fact sphere.â he was too annoyed for the others name antics today, he just wanted to be around someone, she was too unstable, Wheatly and Space were gone, and he was not going near the older cores⌠âWhat are you doing in there? You could deactivate and no one would know, we canât have your body shutting down again.â
âThis office contains a charging station compatible with my system,â Craig replied, his tone a little sharper - it took him a moment to even realise his usual third-person tone had slipped. âVery well. You were seeking me out. Surely there was a purpose for this, other than ascertaining my well-being.âÂ
âYouâre right, I was just worried about you.â he replied. âI guess youâre not used to an uncorrupted core roaming around, but I still care about the active systems in this place (Mostly because I built them) because Iâm one and I donât want to end up the only active system in a dead and endlessly dark hallway named Aperture.â
