••• WOLFTURNED.
softly calloused fingers rub at pulsing temples, an annoyed glance being spared for the younger wolf. his process of logic at this particular moment was ( enough to make ) her want to ring his neck. trusting a product of the dread doctors was the last thing they needed to do at the moment. whatever chimeras were left, needed to stay far away from her & her friends. apparently, liam HAD ANOTHER idea in mind. he wanted to help this girl ! a girl that none of them knew. the worst part is, he wanted to help her when they still had no clue of the doctor’s methods.
‘ liam, you can’t trust her. you shouldn’t even be alone with her. ’
••• ELECTRIICAL.
jolting awake, the coyote flicked her eyes around the darkened room, a light sigh dropping from her lips. she hadn’t meant to fall asleep, but all this ( dread doctor ) stuff on top of passing senior classes had taken it’s toll on her. looking to kira on her right, she realized she wasn’t the only one. they were all burnt out, but they couldn’t risk taking a break or a step back. people’s lives were literally hanging in the balance. & finding the doctors was the only way to help them, or at least the only way they could understand THE PURPOSE.
‘ kira, wake up. we fell asleep again. we have to finish this project. ’
••• WAILISM & DEATHWAILER.
slim fingers run over the current page, a rumble of frustration & insecurity pushing from strained lips. most of the words as individuals made ( sense to her, ) but to placement of them, mixed with the range of words she didn’t understand, made this a difficult read. if she’s being honest, it’s an impossible read. on a normal occasion, she’d likely give up by now ! finding it NOT WORTH the time or energy. but this was important. they had to understand them.
‘ do you understand any of this? i’m completely lost. ‘
••• CAUSINGPAIN & RAEKENOLOGY.
avoidance is a regular tactic of the coyote. the best way to stay away from a bad situation or confrontation was to never allow it to happen. but after THE SCENE between herself & theo in the gym, she knew she couldn’t stay away forever. especially now that he’s seemed to win scott over. which of course, stiles wasn’t particularly ( happy about. ) but he’s been a lot less angry towards theo since he saved lydia’s life after the night of hell with tracy. giving him a slight glance, she let out a sigh before sitting in THE SEAT ACROSS FROM HIM.
‘ have you seen stiles? i haven’t talked to him since last night. ‘
••• ALWAYSCOMPETITIVE.
dark brows pull together as she invades the girls personal space, giving a light sniff or two along with an observational stare. liam said she was different, & he was under ( the impression ) she’d been one of the doctor’s subjects. the hardest thing, was confirming whether she really was or not. these creatures were different, they couldn’t be so immediately identified by scent. they were complex & they didn’t understand them yet.
‘ hm, you don’t SMELL off. maybe we should arm wrestle. ’
••• NOTAHERODAD & CARRYINGUILT.
worn fingers flip through sharp pages, the silence of the school library helping her concentrate on the words. she’d forced herself to read the book ONCE BEFORE but the lack of understanding pushed her to try again. it wasn’t much better this time, but the use of a thesaurus & dictionary definitely helped. hearing the creaking OF footsteps, she glanced upwards, ( brows furrowing ) at the sight BEFORE her. he looked, different. pale. maybe afraid?
‘ stiles, are you alright? you look like you’ve seen a ghost. ’
KIRA.
“ — wait, stiles is ALREADY making plans ?? don’t you think he should … i don’t know, wait until he knows we’re not all getting killed ? && you wont get flunked regardless. i believe in you !! as does everyone else. i mean – you don’t HAVE to be as smart as lydia to succeed in school, you can be your own smart && still make it into a GREAT COLLEGE. ”
‘ yeah, he’s ( not so great ) at waiting. patience is kind of a tough one for him. & for me. but at least i’m realistic enough to know that this year may not go as well as we all hope. & i know i don’t have to be as smart as lydia, but just a fraction of her brain power would go a long way. i can figure out most things, but formulas & math with numbers & physics just confuses me. at least you’re all always so willing to help me out, i can’t tell you how grateful i am. without you guys, there’s no way i’d have ever made it to senior year. we just need to get through this as SUBTLETY AS possible. ’
SCOTT.
it wasn’t that scott hadn’t WANTED to believe malia. if anything, he desperately wanted to. he didn’t want anyone in his pack to kill anyone, especially not if that person themself was actually a victim. and in this case, TRACY WAS. but now, scott knew he’d been wrong. he’d SEEN them, THE DOCTORS. when they’d killed lucas. and he felt absolutely horrible for not believing malia. but there were more important things than the small dispute it could be causing. they needed to figure out more about THE DOCTORS, figure out what they wanted and how to STOP THEM. “ i’m sorry. have you read it ? ”
the lackluster apology was somewhat disappointing, but she let it go. hopefully her friends would actually try to believe her next time, maybe listen to her explanation instead of immediately writing her off. but for now, ( them knowing ) she was innocent was enough. shrugging her shoulder, she gave him a moment to look over the book. it wasn’t complicated, at least it shouldn’t HAVE BEEN. but she’d been having a lot of difficulty with it. she’d read the entire thing, hoping she’d be able to tell them something they didn’t know or come up with a solution, but she was even more confused than before, if that were possible. a sigh left her lips as SLIM ARMS pushed into the back pockets of her jeans. she didn’t have a good answer.
‘ yeah, i read it. but it doesn’t make any sense. at least not to me. ’
STILES.
stiles’ graceless hands pause at the sound of malia’s voice, before gripping a piece of his engine too tightly, watching his pale knuckles flash even whiter. he didn’t want to TALK about it, actually, especially not with malia. theo was BAD, stiles could just feel it, and yet no one was believing him — and people’s disbelief in him usually ended up HURTING his friends.
“what’s the POINT in talking about it?”
observant hues locked onto his fist, head tilting as she watched the already pale skin turn alabaster, listening closer to detect the rise in his heartbeat. ANGER, FEAR, desperation, so potent it was like she felt it alongside him. but she didn’t. she didn’t see the danger, didn’t see the lie. her gut instinct was to trust stiles, always. but the lack of evidence against theo made her slightly sympathetic. ( not to mention ) the fact that he lost his sister as well. she knew how that kind of loss could destroy someone. tear them apart from the inside out. & then on top of that, was the thick layer of guilt. reaching over, she let her hand rest on his shoulder, gripping it slightly in the hope that he would find it a comforting gesture. she wanted to understand, wanted to empathize with HIS ACCUSATIONS.
‘ the point is to make me understand. make me understand why you’re doing this. ’
MADISON.
she’ll just ignore the girl’s ( totally obvious ) fib, as her main focus is now the question she was just asked. why was she here? why wasn’t she still at the academy, learning about her powers & stirring up trouble ? because she died. STRANGLED & left to rot to shit. ( thank god for the power of resurgence ! ) but of course, the starlet couldn’t let that secret out. she’s not supposed to be alive! & the MONSTER who murdered her still thinks she’s gone for good. madison montgomery, once the most popular girl in the world, was now officially lowkey. she hesitates before starting an explanation. ❝ u-um – I was too powerful for them. those bitches couldn’t take the heat. ❞ & there she’ll go again, using her SELF-IMPORTANCE as an escape.
the brunette tilts HER head at signs of obvious hesitation. slight twitches & fissures in the composure of a woman who emulates strength & defiance is an interesting watch. slender fingers ( slide gracelessly ) into the pockets of her jacket, watching the creature intently. not the creature, the witch ! as if she ever thought that was possible, yet here she was, eye to eye with a girl who’d just moved an object with no use of physicality. if malia were BEING HONEST, she was a bit jealous. powers like that could go a long way in beacon hills, especially when it came to protecting her friends. & yet her question still goes unanswered, her voice finally creeping out only to show FURTHER hesitation in the intro of ‘ um. ’ listening ( to her explanation, ) she nods her head slightly, already having heard the slight rise in her heart rate along with the shallow breathing that accompanied it. ‘ mhmm. well aren’t you worried that since they’re learning & you’re not, they’re GONNA END UP surpassing you for the most powerful? ’
JORDAN.
a slight laugh left his lips before his head inclined to a few nods. he RECALLED the day they found malia. her story was INCREDIBLE & it had made little sense to him at the time. after learning about the supernatural, it all clicked. & from what it seemed like, she was starting to ADJUST to the world ; school, society, all of it. ❝ yeah, it’s V E R Y good. ❞ though he hadn’t forgotten the fret that covered her features. upon hearing her response, his head inclined to a few nods. he knew that scott was on E D G E lately. things had been SO GOOD for so long. it only made sense for him to take extra precaution. but taking that extra precaution towards his friends ? it was clear that this was bothering malia, so much so that it must’ve been the only thing on her mind. ❝ what makes you think they believe you KILLED her ? ❞
outright disdain had yet to mask over his features, so she’d take that as a good sign. perhaps he’d be a bit more willing to listen to her & attempt to get her side of the story. then again, ASKING someone to believe in three strange men wearing gas masks that were stronger than a werecoyote was going to be difficult. if she hadn’t seen them with her own eyes, seen what they’d done to tracy, she might not have believed it either. ‘ because ( that’s what ) i wanted to do. i wanted to put her down, i thought it would be best. but lydia said to help her, to wake her up. & she did. that’s when they came. & when stiles & scott found us. it was just me & her alone in the BASEMENT. ’ saying it out loud, she knew it sounded outlandish. but even so, she thought her friends would believe in her. or at least give her the benefit of the doubt & not sneak doubtful looks at one another whenever she brought it up. shrugging her shoulders, she gave the light shake OF HER HEAD. ‘ i know it sounds crazy. ’
TRACY.
“scott doesn’t know WHAT I AM — no one knows what i am, i don’t even know what i am, and i just…really think you all have more IMPORTANT things to worry about than me. it’s okay, malia. …it’s okay. i promise.”
‘ that’s not true, tracy. we’re really close to figuring it out. we already know you’re a chimera & we’re pretty sure they tried to make you a cross between a werewolf & a kanima. once we start figuring out what THE BOOK MEANS, it’ll really help. & you are important tracy. your life is important, you well being is important. please, just let us help you. you don’t have to be alone in it. ’
STILES.
❝ I don’t mind Malia– I WANT to help you. Yeah? would you really do that FOR ME? ❞ the boy raised his eyebrows at the werecoyote, smiling as she talked to him. ❝ this is supposed to be the year where we slack off – senioritis & all that— For everyone else that’s not involved withe the supernatural that’s what this year is gonna be. Do you think we can try to have FUN? Cause, I’d love to have fun, with you. ❞
‘ of course i’d do that for you. after everything you’ve done for me? it’s nothing. ’ & it was nothing. compared to what she put them through on a daily basis, it ( was the least ) she could do. sometimes she missed it, the simplicity & solitude of the woods. but then she’d remember all the things she gained in the real world, & realized her thoughts were selfish. now she had her father, stiles ; she had friends. ‘ senioritis? that sounds painful. but everything else, yes it sounds fun. & more importantly it sounds like what we should be doing during OUR LAST YEAR of high school. right? ’
HERMIONE.
coyotestracks
she approached the girl with caution. RUMORS spread quickly in beacon hills therefore the girl did not know what to be believe when it concerned the s u p e r n a t u r a l . hermione’s eyes were filled with concern.
❛—- are you alright ? ❜
large breaths huffed from a slightly hunched form, trembling fingers placed softly over her abdomen while she attempted to catch her breath. her eyes were wide & the metal of the car door was cool against her back, but she couldn’t erase the imaged from her mind. the sight of her. the desert wolf. the circumstances of her family’s death have ( always seemed so ) straight forward. she was a coyote, she nearly ate them. but now it didn’t seem as simple as she’d thought. glancing up, she traced her eyes over the slight girl, nodding her head WITH AN ACUTE VIGOR.
‘ oh, oh yeah i’m okay. just, not fond of driving. ’
