Grim reaper computer to me it’s all about experimenting not just with sound but with images and words and video and the combination of all of those things and it’s all taking forever but every time I do get to sit down and work on grim reaper computer for extended periods of time it’s the most creatively satisfying thing. I think it helps that it’s collaborative because I know that there’s things I will never think of and i know that I can also think of things other people won’t think of and the real best parts come from when an idea goes though me and through my band mate and then back through me and then back through her and it becomes an entirely different thing by the end and it’s just so much fun. The first album had a lot of samples of my internet friends and a lot of ideas which came from them and even though I’m not really in contact with most of those people anymore it still makes me happy to hear their impact on the music. I think collaboration is like the best thing any artist can do and it’s a shame that there’s so much focus on individuals in art. Of course we are all unique separately but I don’t think any one person will ever produce something revolutionary all on their own. How could they? Part of the reason I haven’t been satisfied with my work in the past like year or so is because I’ve isolated myself thinking it will make me a better artist but as soon as I decided to reach out and actively try to work with others I’ve been making what I think is some of the best stuff I’ve ever been a part of. Music is so much fun to make.
