Three million malware-infected smart toothbrushes used in Swiss DDoS attacks — botnet causes millions of euros in damages

Dental IoT devices caused millions of Euros in damages for Swiss company, says report.

According to a recent report published by the Aargauer Zeitung (h/t Golem.de), around three million smart toothbrushes have been infected by hackers and enslaved into botnets.

The aggressors installed remote control software onto the smart toothbrushes via their unprotected internet connections, aggregating 3 million of them into a botnet: a network of robot computers under remote control.

Next, they would instruct all 3 million of them to attack a website of their choosing, causing a distributed-denial-of-service (DDS) situation where the targeted website was so busy talking to hijacked toothbrushes that it couldn't do the work it was designed for, resulting in crashes and lost revenue.

Jokes aside back when Psychonauts 2 was new there was a present sentiment of "Augustus and Donatella Aquato are bad parents actually and the Aquato children would be better off with Sasha/Milla/the Psychonauts" and anyone who knew me during The Insanity knows that I am an INFAMOUS HATER of this idea. For so many reasons. Imo the basis of it is that some people cannot seem to parse the difference between parents making normal human mistakes and being Abusers. And the narrative very very VERY clearly paints the Aquato parents as the former. As well as a tendency for people to project their own feelings onto Raz to make him More Relatable but that phenomenon is a whole other convo itself. Idk idk. It just baffles me that some people can't see a lot of the nuance in The Nuance Game. I've seen more active distaste for Donatella than fuckin Gristol and that's just wacky to me /neg.

Also. And this is a separate issue. OP is right just purely on this level. It is completely buckwild people took Donatella being a totally normal level Italian(possibly) Mom as Sign She Was An Emotional Abuser. Augustus and Raz's relationship is multifaceted and complex in a way I adore.

But also. On top of all that which is already a really good point. Puts hands together. I wish people had thought. Just even slightly about. Suggesting fictional Romani parents should have their kids taken away from them.

...It is possible. I say calmly. That there's kind of a whole historical thing about romani children being forcibly taken from their parents to be raised by non-Romani parents.
