We found that puffy paint was a hit with the four year olds that came to our waiting room. They loved it! It’s really simple to make. Just use one part shaving cream, one part elmer’s glue and food coloring. The kids love the puffy texture and when it dries, the children have a puffy, 3D masterpiece!
Check out the recipe here!
We love...love Discount School Supplies at our center! I can stay on this website for hours! They have amazing deals :)
Family style dining is a great way to teach children to be healthy eaters but it's also a great way for them to work on their social skills. One of the greatest memories I have are of eating dinner with my Italian family. There was always lots of great food and wonderful conversations! :) it's also a wonderful way to work on their fine motor skills and table manners as well!
This picture says a thousand words. It radiates happiness and love. Isn't that really all that matters?
Fingerprint Rainbow!
My daughter painted a lovely rainbow picture today by fingerprinting :) She fingerprinted different colours in an arch shape in layers to form the rainbow, then added a sunshine, cloud and a heart :) Gives a lovely, bright effect & looks super pretty!

When a Child In My Care Says an Anti-Gay Remark
So, even though I'm out and proud and living a beautiful happy life with my girlfriend and my furry pets, I still feel a slight tinge of pain when one of the kids in my children's center says something against gays and lesbians. Whenever this happens, I feel torn about what to say because I do not want any angry parents approaching me about my response to their child's ignorant remarks, so I've been really working on future responses that can enlighten the child and yet, keep me free from any parental backlash.
Last week a sweet ten year old little girl was telling me about a family film she had seen called "Instructions Not Included." After she she told me how much she liked this film, she continued on to say that there was one gross part...
"What was the gross part?" I asked.
"two girls were dating," this little girl said with a frown.
"Well...you know, it isn't nice to judge people." Silence. I panicked. And as this little girl just stared at me like I was a ghost I couldn't get anymore words out. What I really wanted to continue on and say is, "People can't help who they love. It doesn't matter who loves who as long as they are good to others and don't hurt anyone..." But, that didn't happen. I caved and continued with our art activity and unfortunately, failed at getting through to her. So, at that moment, I decided, I am definitely going to find the best ways to discuss the issue if it happens again. And, I'm definitely going to watch "Instructions Not Included" tonight because it sounds like a great movie!! :)
