Cleo looked toward her Captain, who was she to argue? Finn was gone, her husband was gone. The ring that had been around her finger now was a chain upon her neck. The line where it sat evident from sunny days at sea. When it had happened Cleo shut herself away, she did her job but no sea shanties escaped her mouth like before and she very rarely smiled. In truth she would rather have had her own hand cut off than her heart, for it had been ripped out of her chest that night.

She took another gulp of the rum, wishing to just drown her sorrows. Smee looked over to the Captain then to Cleo. "Who am I to say no, to the Captain" She stated bluntly, another swig of the rum. Pouring another glass. Cleo leaned back in the chair, Hazel hues slightly glazed from the rum yet she also fought back the tears. The rest of the crew had even kept out of the young woman's way, they knew better than to cross her. Cleo was silent for a moment or two, looking as if a weight was upon her chest as she simply stared past Hook and through the window behind. Her gaze was emotionless, her expression rather deadpan.

"He is gone" Cleo then spoke feeling her voice wobble a little. She swallowed the lump in her throat. No, Pirates didn't cry, not feared ones anyway. "Dead, down to the depths of the sea. I couldn't even say goodbye" Smee gave a small sigh, well, now the rum drinking and everything else that came with it made sense. She was grieving. She may be a Pirate, but here she was, just a wife grieving for her lost husband. Her heart had grown stone cold, there was no warmth inside it anymore. No, like this, Cleo was perhaps more dangerous than before. She gave no quarter, she wasn't diplomatic like before, all she felt was rage and God help anyone who met the other end of her blade. Not even Smee dared speak out, he had met Cleo's wrath before, but even the first mate knew that it would be nothing compared to if he spoke out now.

He was unskilled in the affairs of grief. Time and time again, he had kept his affairs brutal or brief at best, and what liquor and violence could not drown was to be kept to the piano and him. Now, however, he had found a bloody reckoning to his desired ignorance. A task he must attend to without sword or shot.

How does one kill grief?

He did not drink quickly, taking time between the sips. His task was to kept Cleo as rum-wet as the ocean itself until he could do or say something to sooth the beast in her heart. None but Finn could do that, though, and dead was he as ever there was a man could be. If there was someway to bring him back, the consequences of such necromancy would be worse than just the sorrow Cleo felt now...

And yet now, Hook felt close to death himself, as there was no telling what would set Cleo into a rage worthy of Ares himself.

"Was there a spot precious to you two?" he said, as gently as he could play a melody. A notion had formed - if she could not say her goodbyes in person, perhaps she could say her goodbyes to a memory. A stretch, but better than just picking her off the floor in an hour blacked out a Rum-River of Lethe.

Cleo didn't have an outlet, perhaps that was the problem.. she had resorted to more violence and rum to cure her broken heart. She took another swig of the rum, the last thing Cleo wanted was to look vulnerable, but perhaps she did already. She knew none of the men would blame her, it was her husband she had lost, not just another man but the one she had sworn to spend the rest of her life with. At the question Cleo gave a small shake of her head, "The sea was our home.. everywhere I look it reminds me of him" She admitted.

Hazel hues finally settled on their Captain properly, the heart break was clear in her eyes the moment she did. A woman who was once whole and full of life was now broken and a shell of herself. "He was my home. There was no particular spot that was precious to us" it was true. The tears that glazed her eyes finally fell down her cheeks, there was no stopping them as much as the young woman wanted.

"I loved him Captain. I loved him more than I loved the sea, and now he is gone I do not know what to do" Now she was being vulnerable.. but it was only in the company of the two men that she trusted with her life. Cleo was smart enough to know that there wasn't anything that she could do, other than to keep going and move forward with one foot in front of the other. Yet right now, that foot was stuck in mud and difficult to get out. Another swig of the rum. It was if the ghost of him lingered, every memory of them upon the Jolly Roger brought her back to the time when it was him and her. "If this is love, I do not want it"

Being on land always got the crew riled up. Yet this particular evening had been their female member of the crew. Cleo stood beside a fallen body, dead. Blood upon her sword and there had been not one, but multiple wounds to the other pirate upon the ground. Blood was splattered across her face, hands stained from the sticky metallic liquid. Even the crew of the Jolly Roger were silent, dumb founded at the sheer violence of her actions. Hazel hues looked up to their Captain, a dark look was glazed behind her eyes. "He had it coming" She stated simply, cleaning off her sword.

Smee looked up toward Hook, "What did he do?" Smee was almost too afraid to ask, his voice quiet but loud enough for the auburn haired woman to hear. "Jealous type. He was crazy, screaming at me." The young pirate inspected the Cutlass, pausing for just a moment "Then he ran into my sword.." Cleo explained pausing to look at the rather young man upon the wet ground, placing the blade back into its leather sheath. "He ran into my sword, ten times" she said it so casually that it even caused a cold chill to run up Smee's spine. Her eyes looked to her Captain, there was no remorse behind them, or guilt in what she had done. Cleo had killed many before, so why was this any different? She took the bottle of rum out of a still shocked Bill Dukes, taking a swig of the sweet liquor. Now she was really living up to her pirate name of Red Handed Jill.

The first mate of the Jolly Roger was almost too afraid to ask why the young poor Pirate had been jealous in the first place. He didn't wish to know the answer to the question and neither did the rest of the crew. They could take a guess, since the death of her husband, Cleo had become in a nut shell, quite the flirtatious type. Getting what she wanted, whether that was gold, rum, or to simply have a bit of fun. Manipulation is certainly what it was, and Cleo Crain was good at it.

Tortuga, it was a place Cleo had been a few times before setting sail to Neverland. The crew of the Jolly Roger had turned into myth, vanishing from the seven seas entirely. Yet here stood the young woman, rum in hand, leaning against the wooden pillar as she listened into a few conversations. Of course her Pirate name was known on these waters, Red Handed Jill. Tattoos evident upon her neck although they weren't the typical nautical tattoos, no, they were large and in the shape of ruins. Anyone who saw those knew exactly who she was.

Her ears pricked up upon hearing Neverland come into a conversation, she had sworn never to go back. Not to that damned island where immortality was real, fairies roamed the lands and mermaids graced the shores. "I can assure you boys" Cleo began, "If you go that route you won't ever find the Never shores" She walked forward, placing her rum on the table beside them. "You'll need a Pirate who has graced those waters" She then sat herself down, "And you have?" One of the pirates asked, "Aye. I have and if you try going that way then you are sure to find certain death heading your way"

The Jolly Roger was not the glimmering ship that once sailed the seven seas. It was now a dark menace that scoured the waters of the earth searching out for its next victim. Fear filled the hearts of any pirate that saw the well known flag as it wavered in the strong wind. The sun rarely shined on the ship and its crew anymore, a seeming storm following them no matter the place, and no matter the circumstances, its prey never escaped. NEVER.

The Captain was ruthless. Rumor spread quickly through the years among the common taverns that served as pirate hideouts. Some said that he lost someone very close to him. Others said that killed said person himself. It didn’t matter the rumor. They all had one common factor…a loved one stripped from the life of the Captain. For any lucky soul who hadn’t encountered the Jolly Roger since its fading away, said pirate would have to assume that the son of the famous Captain Hook had died… and Hook had lost his mind due to the sorrow.

Anyone aboard the Jolly Roger though, knew that was not how the story went. It was far from the truth. They rarely saw their captain anymore, him locking himself up in the Captain Quarters for days on end. No one dared argued him, not even Smee, for fear of their lives. They all quickly fell into line when matters aboard the ship suddenly began to be handled differently, and if someone didn’t… to say no one else dared defy the Captain is explanation enough.

A knock came on the door of the Captain. He knew exactly what that meant. “Cap'n, Sir? We have successfully stopped another ship in our wake. The crew be boardin' now,” came Smee’s voice. Finnegan let one of his hands that was supporting his head fall to the table with a thump, a heavy sigh escaping his throat before responding. “You know the drill. Wait fer me topside.”

Finn graciously accepted Cleo’s hand in his hand. She always knew how to bring his anxiety down, even if it was just as simple as reminding him that she was there for him and that he was not in the place that his mind had wandered. He gently squeezed her hand, trying to calm himself down as they finally set foot on shore.

As everyone started to make their way to find Tia Dalma, Finn stayed completely silent. His shoulders were slumped slightly forward, his head turned downward ever so slightly. He let Cleo take the lead, trusting her to make the best decision for them all. “No… I haven’t had th' pleasure,” he replied in a low voice. “I’ve only heard th' stories.” The stories were enough to make any sane pirate intrigued, but also possibly a bit afraid to meet the woman in person. Definitely not someone Finn would ever want to be her bad side.

“Have ye met her?” he asked, turning to glance at her. It was then that he caught a glance of the pouch. He furrowed his brows, giving her a curious look. “What’s in th’ pouch?” he asked, nodding his head towards the pouch in her hand. He had to assume it was to pay the woman for her help ( whether it was helpful or not ), but what did Cleo have in mind for payment?

"I met her once or twice, she is certainly a woman you should be careful of although she is rather .. intriguing" Cleo responded keeping her hand within his, walking alongside him. At the question of what was in the pouch, Cleo looked down feeling a small smirk form on her features. "Payment my dear, Tia Dalma doesn't require gold as payment she would rather weird and wonderful" She mused gently.

It didn't take long to arrive, Cleo walked in first. Tia looked up upon hearing the door open, "Cleo! Darling" She spoke gently with a wide grin. "What do I owe the pleasure?" Her eyes went to the men before landing upon Finn with a small raise of her brow. "Don't play coy Tia, I think you know why we are here.." of course it was true, "Aye.. that I do. You wish to know if Hook is truly alive.. that he is, he went off to find his ship and to try and return to Neverland" Cleo gulped, she had a feeling that was where Hook was headed. "Then we will need a way to get there.." Tia took a few steps forward.

She scanned the redheads features, "You are glowing" before her eyes trailed up and down her body, suddenly she began to feel a little self conscious. "Have you all not noticed?" Tia asked the men, to which they both gave a shrug of their shoulders in mere confusion. "Your payment. The map." Cleo became irritated, perhaps a little quicker than was normal. Tia looked into the pouch, inside was dust. Pixie Dust. "Where did you get that lass?" Smee asked recognizing it straight away. "It doesn't matter how I got it"

Tia moved away placing the pouch into her pocket. Fingers trailing the many books and scrolls upon her shelf amongst other questionable things. "You should try some ginger tea for the morning sickness" Tia called absent mindedly, she felt the eyes of her crew suddenly upon her although Cleo chose not to comment. Did she really look that pale? Although that couldn't be the case because just a moment before the Witch had said how she was glowing.. you couldn't be pale and glowing that didn't add up at all.

I'm feeling very proud and happy with myself! I decided to step out of my comfort zone and join my local community choir! Which means some live singing in a few months (if I'm not working) plus just singing and having a good time 😁 I've been sleeping better too lately and I'm genuinely really happy at the moment!
