"unfortunately this 🖕🏻🖕🏻is my signature move 🫤" he said with the sincerity of a man ready to sell his soul for a bit, literally at any given moment
To whom it may concern
You know you're in trouble when you are worried about reading the source material of a show you like because what if the book changes even a tiny fraction of how you perceive those characters and their story? What if Ilya is slightly more of an asshole in the book? What if Shane is even a touch less earnest? What if Ilya never says the exact words "I don't ever want that problem to ever go away"? What then, huh? I just... what? Implode?
My current state of mind is unable to cope with the coexistence of multiple versions of the same story and characters. I can only hold one version as true - and I choose the one where Shane keeps hooking his damn thumbs in his damn pockets whenever he is nervous, and where Ilya's butt defies the laws of modern physics.
I'm fully in the "the best scene of Heated Rivalry is always the last scene I just watched" stage of obsession, but the one scene that I keep coming back to over and over again is Shane's ep. 4 freakout after they use their first names for each other.
The way Ilya says "Hollander" twice, not as a question but as a statement when Shane says that he has to leave. He says it as a reassurance that nothing has changed between them. That he will build those tumbling walls right back up if that's what Shane needs to be able to stay. It's not a question. It's almost an apology. Sorry I broke this unspoken contract between us. I'm sorry that you taking charge of our intimacy disarmed me so fully that I couldn't mask my emotions anymore.
But it's not an earnest attempt at making Shane stay. Ilya is too surprised by all of it himself. He, too, feels a little unsure of what they are becoming, of how he is feeling. So he offers Shane's last name, fully aware of the futility of this gesture. It's the idea of an anchor, when they both know that their well-crafted narrative of "we're just fuck buddies" has been falling apart for a while and no anchor will keep them afloat anymore.

currently listening to Brennan's 5 minute "might this stone be a phylactery?" loredump and I'm once again reminded that sometimes - just sometimes - I really need Brennan to just... get tf on with it
played dispatch eps 5 and 6 the moment they were released and now I feel like I need a fucking cigarette like what tf just happened???
And all my choices lined up to make that ending particularly painful.
she's making it harder every ep to be a blazer enjoyer

We joke, we laugh, we suppress our trauma.
Is it 3 weeks until seekers and schemers? I thought we were going to be following just the soldiers for a while, not alternating between tables?
Oh, that's entirely possible. I haven't kept up with how the scheduling will work. I figured they would rotate, but maybe they stick with each table for a while.
Two weeks no campaign 4 :(
Three weeks til more of the Schemers and Seekers :((
Ugggh not sure how to feel about this new era of split tables.
In all the horror (and there's a lot of it) I just started laughing hysterically about the Tachonis-es being this incredibly magical, seemingly competent and arrogant house, but then neither Primus nor his son Ethrand have the ability to communicate telepathically, so - mid-fight - they literally have to do a 90s-family-movie yelling-down- the-hallway bit with "do you have it?" "huh?" "DO YOU HAVE IT?" "YES, FATHER!" Like, pleeeease someone get them a telepathic link
