March 21st has been recognized as World Down Syndrome Awareness Day by the United Nations since 2012. This international celebration, called "Rock Your Socks" day is when you're encouraged to wear fun, bright, or mismatched socks to raise awareness and acceptance of those with Down Syndrome (DS). People with DS have 3 copies of chromosome 21 (hence the 3/21 celebration date) and the chromosomes look like funky socks! #wewantls3psocks https://www.instagram.com/p/CqDeq9iudVT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
