What do you mean when you say se is a subtle ship? Like their dialogue or expressing their feelings or..?

I mean that Elena and Stefan have their epic, sweeping, fairytale moments, for sure

but even these moments aren’t IN-YOUR-FACE, LOOK AT THEM BEING SO FUCKING EPIC like the show tries to do with DE.

For instance, when Elena goes to kiss Damon in 3x19 Florence + The Machine is in the background wailing AND THE ARMS OF THE OCEAN ARE CARRYING ME and it’s very flashy and it’s like AND ELENA’S HAIR IS BLOWING IN THE WIND AND DAMON IS TOPLESS, LOOOK. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK AT THEM

Whereas 1x10, it’s just Stefan and Elena, it’s just Nina and Paul and their chemistry, it’s their expressions, it’s their words

and when “Cut” does start to play, it’s really more an accompaniment than anything else.

And with DE, the show likes to stop everything to see them be together plus gives them overblown, overwrought dialogue BECAUSE THEY ARE SO EPIC

LET’S SHOVE IT IN THE AUDIENCE’S FACES AND GIVE DE HIGHLY CHOREOGRAPHED DANCES ON MOONLIT BRIDGES BECAUSE EPIIIIIIIIC

BARN SEX BECAUSE HARLEQUIN ROMANCE NOVEL AND EPIC-NESS

whereas with Stelena there’s more subtlety in displaying their love because they don’t actually rely too heavily on tropes like they do with DE what they do is find ways for them to show their love that makes sense for Stefan and Elena and that’s also entwined with the plot, like the blood-share

This isn’t highly romantic because Stefan is drinking Elena’s blood, this is highly romantic because Stefan is an addict and human blood makes him erratic and violent but Elena is opening her veins to him because she trusts him and she loves him and she believes in them. That’s way more nuanced and framed much more subtly than a rain kiss that’s supposed to be romantic because its a trope.

Or the fact that the SE love is shown in the details such as the fact that in 2x18 she’s wearing Stefan’s shirt like no big deal

or that Stefan says he’s on edge so Elena naturally goes to rub his shoulders and it isn’t framed like AND NOW SHE’S RUBBING HIS SHOULDERS, it’s just fact

Or even the way Stefan and Elena are positioned in relation to one another, which shows that they’re aligned with each other

Or the way that Elena just never not has her hand on Stefan’s chest and they’re legit just talking but her hand is simply always on his chest

That’s what I mean.

Also Nina’s hands are going kinda low, lmao.

Elena wiped the dark smudge under her eye left by her mascara. She sucked in a deep breath and looked over at the person speaking to her, “I-uh, nothing. Sorry - I was just sitting here admiring the view and I guess I got sad.”

Surprise Visit | Manichaeisms

Elena edged around the car she just parked and folded her arms over her chest. She was nervous, a lot of planning had been put into this surprise reunion and it all came down to the next few minutes. Her brown eyes peered around the wooden posts and long vines that covered the patio area. Her eyes locked onto Stefan and thankfully he was not facing her. She edged closer, making sure to be extra quiet.

I just really do not have muse for Elena right now. I know TVD returns next week but I couldn't be any less excited about it. Honestly I used to be able to write novels for Elena in TVD seasons 1-4 but now I feel like I don't even know who she is anymore.

To the friends I've made here, you can all locate me on skype. If you don't already have it I'd be more than happy to provide it to you if you message me. I will come on for the next couple of days to check messages and then I shall be gone.

I don't know when I'll come back or if I'll come back. It all depends on Elena.

I would list the people I care about the most from this place but you should already know who you are and I don't want to risk forgetting someone since I just woke up.

I hope all of you continue to get better in your writing. I hope you all have many more amazing threads as there isn't a single person I follow who isn't an amazing writer.

If we had a thread going on and you want to drop it in my absence just leave me a little message saying so. I will understand, but that way I don't reply when my muse returns only to have it dropped in my face, ya dig?

blank space au ─ muse a is notorious for her promiscuous ways. she’s reckless with who she sleeps around with and dates, because quite frankly, she doesn’t care. muse a goes through boys like it’s nothing, but in walks muse b. muse a immediately takes a liking to the boy, and decides to pine after him. muse b however, knows about her reputation. he knows that if he were to get involved with muse a, he’ll either end up crazily in love, or left sitting on the curb with his heart in pieces. whether he decides to take up that blank space in muse a’s life right now, is up to him.

bad blood au ─ muse a and muse b are exes that ended on bad terms. now whenever they see each other around the halls at school, the only things exchanged are glares. all the two of them ever do is try to get on each other’s nerves; which means lots of flirting with random people in order to make the other jealous, and constant bickering. little do both of them know, they’re both still madly in love with the other. though they infuriate each other, there’s a spark between them that refuses to die. will they be able to put aside their childish fighting and accept the fact that they’re still crazy for each other?

i know places au ─ muse a and muse b are both famous singers. this is their peak time in the music industry and all eyes are on them. but when they meet at an award show, sparks fly. they immediately start dating, but soon realize how tough it is to date someone when they’re constantly being watched by the public eye. they both like each other way too much to break things off just because of a few rumours being written in tabloids and the constant questions, but the pressure of it all is getting to them. will they be able to last under the scrutiny of the public eye?

you are in love au ─ muse a and muse b have been best friends for as long as they can remember. they’ve been attached at the hip since birth, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. they know each other better than anyone else and their friendship is to be envied. but now they’re in their senior year of high school. they’re desperately trying to spend more time with each other before they part ways for college, but the more time they spend with each other, the more they see each other in a different light. muse a and muse b are obliviously in love with one another; however, there’s a catch. muse a’s in a loving relationship and muse b would be anything to replace his girlfriend.
