The coffee was warm in her hands as she sipped it, sitting outside under the umbrellas, the place buzzing with activity. A light breeze stirred her hair, the cicadas singing loudly in the background. All in all it was a very relaxing day, serpentine eyes watching the people as they walked in and out of the store, their scents far more tantalizing than that of the dark liquid. It was one of the more popular coffee shops in the area and soon her table was the only one with a seat open but still people seemed to be hesitant to sit near a socialite like herself, her black Dior dress cutting deep to expose a good amount of cleavage, her kitten heels pulling the ensemble together. Oh yes, she was imposing indeed but she liked it like that.
The sky was clear and the sun was gleaming- one would normally consider this rather pleasant weather, but for an unknown reason the day in of itself gave off a vibe of discomfort. Maybe it was due to all of the task he was preforming or from lack of sleep regardless, the haze of vexation wouldn’t leave his side. The buzzing of people exhaling and chattering filled the air as soon he opened the door to the small cafe. From the single step he took inside he could sense something amiss. The already seated costumers had made an effort to create an invisible wall between them and the woman wearing what appeared to be an evening dress. The woman who was now sardonically smiling seemed to be fully aware and almost proud of the effect she was having. With just a swift glance one could tell this was a sort of entertainment for her- anyone who took such grand steps to stand over others irked him most. Gazing around the cafe there seemed to be no other tables open other than the one’s next to the sordid woman. Without much of a choice he quietly sat down at the table next to hers and began reading a book he had brought along with him. The quicker he left, the better.
