“What is a Cray-1?”
The cray-1 was used for complex mathematical calculations, which made her incredibly useful for Weather and Nuclear simulations. She was made in 1975 and was the fastest supercomputer of her day until her successor was created! Her C shape is actually the reason for her speed, the close shape giving the data less area to cross when running through the wires
The specific model I make art of is the Cray-1A, however the series had multiple shapes!
My biggest source of information about her is her companies official website! Cray-history.net - I highly recommend checking it out if you want to know more about her or the computers that followed her
“What will I find on this blog?”
Mostly posts related to the Cray-1 but I do love other computers - the cray-1 is just the only one who Isn’t a fictional character haha! Expect the usual media that other robot/computer lovers enjoy like Portal, Electric Dreams, 2001 a Space Odyssey, and other misc objectum things
“Any dni or blog rules?”
I don’t have a DNI necessarily, but before you follow know that I identify with the label Objectum, use inappropriate language, am an adult, and might reblog/make suggestive content. I also use language that treats the cray-1 as if she were a sentient being, using she/her pronouns for her and personifying her in a way that might be confusing to some. I understand she isn’t “alive” in the sense humans are but I greatly enjoy treating her as if she were. If any of that makes you uncomfortable then feel free to block or leave
