Which anti-Zutarian arguments do you think are the worst?

For me, it’s the ones that call it toxic and vilify Zuko because it actively ignores that Zuko went through an A+ redemption arc which included making amends toward Katara and earning her trust and forgiveness even though it wasn’t necessary, and the ones that boil down to Aang deserves Katara more because he’s such a nice guy and simped over her longer because it sends the message that men are entitled to relationships with women after giving them the barest minimum of decent behavior and should keep wearing them down until they give in.

I’ve noticed that most Anti-Zutarian arguments are pretty weak and bad-faith.

Ta-da! Ever since I finished Hometown Cha Cha Cha I've been sitting on AU material (of course, ZK AU) and here it is :D

This is really a Small Seaside Town ZK AU since my daydreaming took a left and ended up with a whole different storyline but, eh.

So basically a 23-ish Katara lives with her family in a Small Seaside Town, does a lot of community work and cares for her grandmother as her father is at sea often and her brother is at college. Zuko's life has fallen apart in the Big City and now he lives with his uncle Iroh, the owner of the local cafe/tea house. At first, Zuko and Katara don't get along at all, but they end up spending more and more time together and find out they have a lot more in common than they could have thought. Together, they face the demons and regrets of their past.

(More rambling below cut)

1. The laundry scene. Need I say more. Also, Ms Dentist -> Mr Jasmine (as in Jasmine Dragon employee idk)

2. Our local tea house owner, who employed Katara but now has a grumpy nephew to do the serving work.

3. Katara would be the one to go surfing. It's canon.

4. The Three Grannies (TM). I feel like Hama would be the one that curses a lot lmao. Also ft. some angsty talk that could be right out of The Crossroads of Destiny :')

5. Some bonding at the seaside :)

6. That Drunk Scene. I was conflicted, because I feel they could both fit into this one. Went with Katara and her Abandonment Issues.

7. That Umbrella Scene. Again, unsure who is who in this situation, both fit both roles :")

8. We love that slice of life domestic shit. Katara on her way to a job ordering her favourite tea/coffee and hanging out with the local server :)

Summary:

Waiting in the courtyard after the messy, terrible Agni Kai against Azula, Katara and Zuko aren’t sure what to expect next. When news does come, it’s devastating: Aang has failed to stop Ozai. Run. Hide. We’ll find you when it’s safe. They obey the order, fail to disobey the order, and find a little temporary space for a while, until they can rejoin what is left of the plan to stop the Phoenix King from destroying the world. And they wait. And wait. And wait.

And learn that life has a way of carrying on even in the midst of war and failure. And then, as it always must, their past finally meets their present, and Katara and Zuko need to once again define what makes them who they are, and the roles they are willing to play in destiny.
