In a world where bending is strictly prohibited, Katara has always been careful about hiding her abilities. The only people who've ever known about her bending have been her family and she's vowed to make it through her college years without revealing her secret. Naturally, the person who finds out about her hidden status as a waterbender is none other than Zuko, member of one of the most well known families in the nation and a firebender himself.

I really enjoyed working on this piece for Her Name is a Stranger in the @zkbigbang! Designing [REDACTED]'s precious steambaby, Kyza, was definitely a highlight for me!

A Happy Reunion?

In the center of the picture are Katara (on the left) and Zuko (on the right), standing close to each other. While Katara wears the clothes she wore during her final battle against Azula in "the day of the black sun", Zuko wears a read wardrobe including a light and long, as well as armless vest with golden seams and a golden belt made out of fabric. He wears the headpiece of a firelord and a golden ring on his left upper arm, which is similar to those the sun soldiers wore. The cloak attached to his shoulders surrounds him and Katara smoothly, as it would want to hold her close as they are one unity.

Zuko looks lovingly at Katara. He has a soft smile on his lips and strokes her head gently with his right palm, while his left hand holds Katara's close to his heart, where the lightning scar caused by Azula is supposed to be. In contrast Katara is crying, her cheeks are redded. She looks up to Zuko with a sad glance.

In the background - in front of a blue sky, slim dark trees and a green-gold meadow - are Oma's (right) and Shu's (left) silhouettes reaching out for each other desperately - indicating that Katara and Zuko are their reincarnations.

The atmosphere is filled with flower petals and sparkling lights, which resemble hope for their future selfes.

My Heart is in Your Hand

Hello all! It’s been a real honor to have drawn a scene from My Heart is in Your Hand which can be found by clicking here. I would also like to thank @zkbigbang for organizing the event and doing an excellent job in overseeing the various projects.

The scene I was inspired to draw, without spoiling to much, is when Katara spots Zuko heading towards the elevator when she was accompanied by her father for a stroll around the hospital.

Drawn for the 2022 @zkbigbang. I created this piece for the fic, “Strike A Match”. I really enjoyed working with the team on this project and watching the author’s vision come to life. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn these two, and it felt great to get back to it. Be sure to check out the fic!

This scene in particular reached out of the screen and grabbed me by the throat with its bittersweet loveliness.
