“Fuck.. I don’t know if I’m going to be cut out for the college thing..”Â
"Why would you be?"
“Never had the chance.”
“Are there none in Chicago?”
“I didn’t do shit last year.”
“Aw, I’m sorry. At least you’ve got this year to look forward, to, right?”
“I like seeing all of the pottery and stuff, and all the things that hint at a super advanced society. That really interests me.”
“Let’s face it, the average Greek or Roman was way smarter than any person now.”
“Honestly the only thing I’m getting from college so far is that college is soup and I’m a goddamn fork. I’m a fork living in a spoon’s world.”
“I don’t know how I relate to his, but I do. Except I’m not in college.”
“Real theatre geeks then, I guess.”
“How come you haven’t been to any?”
“This is my last year, I’m so damn pumped about it, though, oh man.”
“Did you get to go last year?”
“I don’t have a reason to trust you just yet so I think we’re fine. I’m only just sixteen, but I won’t be driving for a long while,” she shrugged. “It’s still cool. I’m probably going to be bouncing around like a bunny in excitement.. I do that sometimes.”
Macee giggled. “That’s fine. I mean, I’m sure I’ll be right there along with you. Especially if I get to see some artwork from greek and roman cultures. I’d probably faint.”
“You see, that’s probably the difference between us. I’m fairly nocturnal,” Rose chuckled.Â
“Despite staying up all night for Netflix, I’m pretty much the opposite. I like to get up with the sun and go to bed with the sun.”
“It feels so good to be home!”
“Where did you go?”
“I’ve never seen a play but I love acting, so that’s why.”
“My parents are really into going and seeing plays, so they always dragged me along. They’ve seen Phantom of the Opera, like, ten times. And Wicked twice, I think.”
“I’ll definitely have to look around for some, yes.”
“I heard the school goes on a spring break trip every year, so that’s something to look forward to, yeah? And something you definitely need a bathing suit for.”
“You can drive? Wowza,” she grinned. “I’d love to go with you! I’ve never actually been to a museum before. I’ve only seen stuff online, but there’s only so much that you can actually see through a screen.”
“Sorta. I mean, I can drive, but I just started, so you have to decide whether you trust me or not. But, I mean, I passed my driving test with flying colors, if that counts for anything. I went to one when I was in middle school on a field trip, but it wasn’t anything huge or anything. I mean, it was in this really small town and they just had rocks and some insects and stuff.”
“They’re actually the nicest things, but I hardly own any anymore because I was fourteen, nearly fifteen when we came here, and I’ve barely been back since so all the old ones don’t fit.”
“I’m sure there are some shops around here somewhere that sell cute bathing suits.”
“To college? What am I studying? Theatre and performance.”
“That’s really cool. I always liked watching plays, but I can’t act to save my life.”
“Are there any history museums around here that like, specialize in Egyptian or Greek histories? I feel like it’d be really interesting to visit one, but I feel like I may also have to wait until I’m old enough and able to actually travel to visit a major one, but my god, they’d just be so cool to visit, don’t you think? With all the histories and stuff? History is just so interesting because all of these things-oh, I’m sorry, I’m rambling…”
“Rambling is fine.” Macee smiled. “But I totally agree. I mean, I can drive, and I’m sure there’s one in Chicago somewhere. We could always go together one Saturday? I mean, don’t think you have to, though, but I wouldn’t mind.”
It would have been even more pathetic if I let you stand there and just blurt random fucking things out to no one. So I answered you, and I regret it.
Okay then, I’m sorry to bother you... you can leave now...
