Directing requires so much more of my brain than acting does. It’s not that I don’t use my brain as an actor, but I use more of my heart as a performer. As a director, there is a kind of positivity that you need to lead with. Sometimes I struggle with that; I might be more of a glass-half-empty person than a glass-half-full person. As an actor, I traffic around in the business from the standpoint of what my feelings are. I have my feelings and it’s an occupational hazard in a way.
