Entrepreneurs, designers and thinkers can always use some inspiration to create innovative ideas. As a graphic designer, I often look to the pioneers of my field for ideas on creative problem-solving. Each of these figures offers important lessons not just in design, but also in innovation that can apply to anyone working on new methods, products or experiences. Here are a few ways these icons can inspire you to create something new:
Another success story
Recent A+GD grad Michael Drake tweets from New York, NY:
“To a lot of people getting a new business card is no big deal, but I worked hard for this title and that address.”
Ms. E. Ward, faculty advisor to theCurious, comments:
Most would call Michael LUCKY or TALENTED and dismiss the hard work part of the equation.
I went to a quick copy store a few years ago. The clerk looked familiar and was a former student in CPCC’s Advertising + Graphic Design program. I mentioned that I remembered this person and some good work done in class. A long diatribe about the program ensued, how this person is only* working at a copy shop, how it stinks, etc... When this person was done I asked: You got your degree? Well, no.
Hmmmm. The program does not promise employment after a few classes, it supports the opportunity of employment with a degree. You gotta be in it to win it! WORK THE PROGRAM TO THE END and you will have the basic tools to start a designer's journey!
*All work can lead to more or better work. Remove “only” from the thought process. A quick copy shop job "well-played" can be the beginning of something great if you approach the situation like a creative courageous problem-solver!
Good morning. I am looking for a CPCC graphic arts student to help me do some very basic graphic work for my business. Little part time money and help build up your resume.
Hello!
First of all, theCurious would like to thank you for contacting us for we have many skilled and hardworking students in both our Graphic Arts and Graphic design departments at CPCC. We would love to find out more about your business and what exactly it is that you need in order to help you out the best way possible. Once we have this information as well as a sure way to contact you, an available student skilled in that area will be sure to get in touch.
Sincerely,
Staff Member of theCurious
Hi Marianne, I no longer in the Curious, but you would need to speak to kenn or Ellen. Why don't you send us a message and we'll give the details privately?

Shenanigans! Shenanigans, everywhere!
In order to complete the Graphic Design Program here at CPCC, each student has to take Illustration classes. During this particular assignment, the students had to collage together illustrations for a line of text - excerpts from famous novels.
One particular student, Victor Mirazo, took it a step further. Take a look!
