Can you do a camping AU with the 100 and with Monty x reader please?
I’m back! Sorry for the long writing slump, I’ll try to be better from now on.
Camping Trip (Monty x Reader)
This was not what you had in mind when you suggested a fun outing to your friends.
A fun outing was a day trip to the beach, or laser tag. Not swarms of mosquitoes and tents that required an engineering degree to pitch. But the majority had voted for a camping trip, and the excited expression on Monty’s face made it impossible for you to complain. Damn his adorable smile, it would be his fault if you died of a heatstroke or got eaten alive by a bear.
“That’s it, I give up!” You threw your arms up in surrender. “Let Jasper and Raven pitch it, I’ll find some other way to make myself useful.”
“You know what that means (Y/N),” Bellamy piped up, “wood duty.”
You groaned, thinking of bears and the countless horror movies your friends had made you watch. “Actually, I think I’ll try the tent thing again.”
“Too late, you’re getting wood for the fire. No chores, no smores.”
“I’m not going out there alone!” You protested.
“Of course not,” you turned to face Monty, who gave you a bright smile in return, “I’m coming with you.”
The task at hand suddenly didn’t seem as difficult. Considering how tight your group was, you never got to spend alone time with him. Your crush had developed in rooms full of loud, laughing people, through stolen glances and quiet but always witty comments. The opportunity seemed almost too good to be true.
“Fine,” you replied with a fake resigned sigh, “but you better keep the smores coming tonight, Blake.”
You turned around, ignoring Bellamy’s laughing shout of “make your own smores, you lazy ass”, and walked away from the camp, Monty following closely.
It took approximately five minutes of awkward silence for you to get yourself to talk. “So…have you gone camping before? You seemed very excited about it.” You bent down to pick up a dry branch, quickly glancing in his direction. He was smiling sheepishly, mindlessly kicking the dirt with his foot. “I used to go every summer with my parents. We’d walk until we were tired, spend the night in one place and get going again the next morning. Pretty intense for a five year-old but I loved it.”
You couldn’t help but smile at the thought of a younger Monty happily treading through the woods. “Is that where you got your passion for botany?”
“Mostly, yeah. My mum always took the time to teach me the Latin names of every plant. But we also had a garden, still do. My parents insist on only eating fruits and vegetables we can grow ourselves.”
“Between this and the smores, I’m getting very hungry.”
He let out a chuckle that made you feel a little too proud. “I’m sure we can find some edible berries around here.”
“You’re not trying to poison me, are you?”
You laughed and skipped ahead, looking around for anything that looked even remotely like berries. “I see red!”
Monty caught up with you and picked up a berry, rolling it between his fingers. “I’m about 70% sure this won’t kill you.”
He grinned at your horrified expression. “I’m just messing with you, it’s perfectly safe.”
You rolled your eyes playfully and started gathering more berries, staining your fingers red. The two of you found a fallen tree to sit on, taking a break to enjoy the improvised meal. Monty turned out to be a lot more talkative one on one then he was with the rest of the group, and you learned a lot about his family, his childhood and the things he loved. After a while, you noticed that it had gotten darker. “We should probably get back to camp while we can still see.”
“Right.” You thought you detected a hint of disappointment in his voice as he stood up, gathering the wood you had left on the ground.
“This is even creepier the darker it gets.” You remarked, squinting at the path in front of you to avoid tripping on anything.
“I don’t find it creepy. I think it’s beautiful.”
You smiled to yourself, counting on the deepening darkness to hide your face from him. “You do?”
“Uh-uh. I always thought it would be a great place for a first date.” He added, clearly trying to sound detached and casual.
You could have sworn your heart stopped beating for a moment. “Is…is this what it is?”
“Only if you want it to be.” You looked at him, trying to discern his expression in the dark. You were almost certain he was smiling. You were just about to answer when the beam of a flashlight blinded you, making you jump out of your skin.
“There you are, we were starting to worry!”
“Get this thing out of our face, Blake.”
“Whoops, sorry.” Bellamy sung, making no effort to sound sincere. “Come on, we’re only a few minutes away.”
You followed along reluctantly, purposely falling back to walk next to Monty. “So…hum…we’re going to be here a few days, right?”
“And we’re going to need wood, like, every night, probably.”
“I think we made a good…wood-gathering team. We should, hum…gather wood again. Together. Tomorrow?”
You could hear the smile in his voice as you walked out into the clearing filled with your friends. “Tomorrow.”
